Space Mega Force Man
Update 1.01
Bug fix for a new update
About the GameSpace Mega Force Man is a retro space shooter game.
Your ladyfriend is kidnapped by space mutants and you have to fly through the universe killing baddies, kicking ass and collecting gems along the way.
Make it to the end, rescue your lady friend and get a smooch for your efforts.
Space Mega Force Man is the first game by developer and artist team of Paul Hagerty and Rob Kitson AKA, Not Your Jax
All images were hand drawn and animated in an old fashioned flip book style. The sound effects are voice clips of Rob and were created using a commodore 64.
The game is coded by Paul in the mono game engine to ensure the retro feel of those great bygone times
Its been a year in the making and it’s definitely worth a blast.
Hit the buy now button and get rescuing her fast.

TL;DR - This game is a fun, interesting, and short experience. It's free, so you really have nothing to lose--try it out, but not for the achievement, as it won't register no matter what you do on version 1.01 (the latest as of writing).
Full Review: Space Mega Force is a neat game. It clearly takes a lot of inspiration from classic shoot 'em ups from the second generation of game consoles: in short, nothing too crazy gameplay wise. It's generic gameplay is made up for by its very interesting aesthetic.
The art looks as if it was drawn by a child, and I don't mean that in a bad way. The entire thing looks as if it was doodle in the middle of a boring middle school class, and I really like that. The bits of humor (mostly in the form of sound effects) in this game also make it stand out, but I'd rather not spoil them for you.
The game is very short but doesn't outstay its welcome. There are ten rounds with two bonus rounds. It offers five difficulty settings and a bonus mode for replayability. The difficult settings are what you would expect out of difficult settings in a shmup, not much to explain. The bonus mode effectively you trying to beat your high score each time. It isn't timed, and is instead based on lives. You'll get a set amount at the beginning of a bonus round depending on your difficulty and you earn more based on your performance. My biggest problem with the game is the bonus round actually: the music is a very short loop (only a few seconds). It's maddening to say the least.
The music overall has an interesting style. Not sure what genre you'd call it but it's definitely strange and experimental (like the rest of the game's art is). I'd love more music in this style at some point in the future, just more fleshed out, as there are only two tracks in the game (one of which is the bonus stage music, which drives me insane).
The only other issue I have with the game is the achievement: it doesn't work. No clue why, but a fix would be nice.
Can't wait to see more from these devs in the future, they're clearly a talented duo.

This is actually a really cool game, especially for free. The gameplay alone is pretty fun (even though it can be quite unfair at times), but the graphics are particularly interesting. Ever seen a ZX Spectrum game? The graphics are like that except in higher definition, in a cool way. I'd like to see more games with this kind of style. I don't really like the music, but it's not completely terrible.
Do be aware that there is a kissing scene in the game. Thankfully, it can be skipped immediately.
The achievement may be broken, but I'm not disappointed overall.

Just the right amount between difficulty and fun and the community leaderboard keeps me playing again and again to try to beat my top score and get to the top (currently only 13th so a way to go)

Before I played Space Mega Force Man, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
