While this game is okay at best, with mods installed from GameBanana, It becomes a A-tier level game, here's a few of them if you want to buy it.

There are many more mods, these are the big three in my opinion, with that being said; enjoy the game!

I know that the levels are super short. I know that the cutscenes are unreasonably long, and the story is goofy and tryhard-ish. I know that the physics is kinda weird and sometimes feels wrong. I know that the game is super easy by the Sonic games mark.
But you know what? It's fun. It's actually fun. The story may be goofy, but still hooks you. Infinite is even believable. The levels feel like they were made for a handheld game, and fit the pattern of "I have spare 10 minutes, how do I kill them." Visual design is great.
Does it worth the full price? Definitely not. But get it with a discount, don't hold your expectations high, and don't think too hard about it - and you will have fun. And isn't it what Sonic games are about?

The way people talk about this game, I was expecting 06 levels of glitchy, underdeveloped mess that would kill my entire family.

But like, it's fine? I'm not trying to be contrarian or anything, I genuinely don't understand why people hate this game the way they do. Sure it's like the most average a modern Sonic game could really be, but like, I like that. There's a decent amount of content, collectables, level variety (gameplay wise, at least), I just don't understand. 100% is a bit of a grind, but most people don't 100% Sonic games anyway.

The story is melodramatic and the canon "Sonic OC" mechanic is a little silly, but I don't necessarily dislike either. It feels like a typical kids game story. I guess the constant talking might grate on people, but I play in JP and love that cast, so it didn't bother me.

Am I just crazy? I don't understand why this is such a pariah in the fanbase. I enjoyed it well enough, and for $10 on sale, you could do worse.

Not a flawless game, but I think it gets more hate than it deserves. It is short, and the writing downright sucks. But I still like the gameplay (for the most part), the level art is so detailed and beautiful, and the music absolutely ROCKS.
Absolutely DO NOT buy it at full price, but on a big sale I think it's worth checking out. I did grow up playing Sonic games though, so I might be a little more inclined to play it than someone who isn't a Sonic fan. Don't let this be your first Sonic game, though. That wouldn't be fair to yourself.

The base game is worthless but I'm recommending it literally just for the Overclocked mod

The game is really fun, Im a 10 year old who REALLY likes this game. It's one of my favorites to the sonic franchise, I've played many sonic games. But none like this! It's very exciting when you beat the bosses, some levels are hard to beat. I recommend that you play normal/easy mode before hard mode.
