Overall it's a game that I would recommend to others but it definitely has some aspects that aren't super ideal.
pros: it's cute, the skill system is fun, it has great characters, the questing mechanics are fun, the inner world mechanic is AMAZING, and much more.
cons: it's very grindy. for starters, i'm on year 2 and still can't date any characters (let alone marry them) because of how much effort it is to raise these friendship values. you can give them their favorite gifts and get the best results on dates and it can still take seasons to make any real sort of progress on it. Similar can be said for gathering the different rare woods and gems. the floors they spawn on in the mines are randomized ever 2 weeks so you have to explore the entire thing again to find them which makes farming them a massive pain. Finally, i know a lot of people probably like this aspect of farming games, but having to manually collect products from over 100 animals kinda drives me insane after a while.
It's a great game but could definitely use some quality of life updates >.<

Overall: enjoyable and addicting, worth the money, but far from prefect. ~6-7/10
Pros:
- large open map with no loading time in between (except for the mines)
- infinite inventory space <333333
- character dialogue changes as your relationship progresses with them
- lots of fun lil hidden quests (you might see this as a con since they are harder to track)
- alternative tool upgrades (e.g. uses produce instead of ores)
- there is no time requirement for quests
- birthday cut scenes (I never knew I needed these but I loved the birthday cut scenes)
- fun events
- lots of management aspects
- easy to progress in early game
Game mechanics:
It has everything you need in a farming sim, but with additional quirks from strategy and management games. You receive farmhands very early on in the game, and you pay them basically nothing. By half of first year, most of your dailies would consist of planning farmhands and posting requests at stores instead of grinding on the farm.
Plot:
I am currently in year 1 autumn so I can't speak for all of the plots, but in general, the main quests are super short, the side quests are quite fun. The quests are grindy if you play it like a basic farming sim, so I strongly recommend you take advantage of the management aspect of this game.
Characters:
Visual - depends on your preference, I personally do not like this mobile game looking kind of design, but you get used to it and they look kind of cute.
Personality - all of them have tons of personality, even a bit too much personality LOL, again this depends on your preference, but I personally think they are a bit overdone...you do get used to them, since all of them are equally crazy.
Dialogue - the daily dialogues are VERY lacking (the same lines over and over). The character is therefore conveyed through their inner space and side quests (which are pretty well done honestly), but the severe lack of dialogue is still a problem. I played this game in Chinese so I can't comment on how terribly it's translated, but even in Chinese some of the dialogues are still hilarious (in a bad way). But fear not, the major characters are still pretty well written, except that some of them really need to go to therapy (I write this with affection).
Cons:
There are also some bugs here and there, e.g.
- Huan was away, but he still showed up for all the cut-scenes
- favour point notifications would randomly not show (fixable by reloading the game)
- pupil and eyelash/eyebrow colour sometimes do not load properly
But I haven't experienced anything game breaking yet. If you get stuck between rocks, there is a quick escape option in the ESC menu.
There are no key binds for sub menus, so you have to click at least two times to see the quests.
The animations are hilariously choppy, thankfully there are very few animations to watch.
Quests are difficult to track (the ? symbol never show at the proper place; character icons are not precisely placed; some quests are hidden and do not show in your journal)
You only have enough space to place one big greenhouse!!!! DO NOT BUY A SECOND BIG GREENHOUSE.

I won't lie, I bought this game because the English translation looked so terrible and I thought it was funny. Devs, your updates ... they're um, not super well written in English. I probably wouldn't have bought the game if I wasn't a very particular audience. That being said, I'm writing this positive review, so ...
This game is, as you'd expect, a standard farming game, with several romanceable characters, a mining system not unlike Stardew, fishing, animals, logging, etc. In that regard it doesn't build a ton on what's already in the genre; the characters are ... strange, with many speaking in third person and one who is .. a bird? ... but I don't mind that and they can be pretty charming. (Are they weird because of translation? Maybe, but I can't read Chinese so your guess may be better than mine.)
I think the big selling point of the game is that there's a mechanic called Inner Space, which is essentially you getting a look into someone's headspace and investigating them as a person from there. You can interact with them differently there and learn some interesting things about them. You can also befriend your farm animals in the wild and just take them home rather than buying them. There's also a prestige system a bit like Fields of Mistria, and you can hire folks for your farm, upgrade the town buildings, or simply up your own production to improve the town. As the mayor, you also get to make town decisions.
People in the reviews are, fairly, concerned that the game is slow paced, and it is. I feel like I've done very little in over 10 hours. There are probably better farming games. But this one is somehow charming, with some new takes, and I think, especially if you buy it on sale, it's worth a try.

Lots of content and can be very fun. It has one of the better dating/marriage systems that I've seen. Character's have loads of personality and are enjoyable to interact with. I genuinely had a good time playing this and I'd say it doesn't deserve some of the hate it gets.
Unfortunately there are some cons. It gets a bit grindy late game especially if you want to marry. Also alot of the newer content is not translated. Slightly buggy but nothing gamebreaking and unfixable with a game restart far as I've seen.
Additionally there's a general lack of dialogue. I would've liked to see much more unique dialogue, especially during events or after key plot points in the story. But for a small game company this is a gem in the rough! Please consider playing it!!!

I've played Song of The Prairie for quite awhile. The developers do listen to players and occasionally the English translation isn't 100%, but it is understandable. For me, it doesn't take away from how soothing this game is for me. The story is unique and I've never found another game with a story like it. Currently, it doesn't play a huge role in game play, but I'm hoping they'll expand on it more. Song of The Prairie has been my ultimate cozy game because I can entirely escape when I play it. I can't think of any time that I had to grind. Without a grind, you'd think the game would go by fast. It doesn't! I could keep going on how much comfort this game has given me, but I hope you'll try it yourself, and that if you had questions, I was able to answer them!

I really am enjoying this game, although it does have some flaws.
-There are translation and grammatical errors. They’re not completely awful, but they’re noticeable.
-The game is male oriented, like adding a female main character wasn’t originally in the plan. Often times, you get referred to as a guy, even if you’re playing as a girl. Or perhaps that's more of the translation issues.
-The loading times can be long at the end of the day and cause some stuttering.
Otherwise, the game is fantastic. There are so many characters and so many things to do. You have main quests and various tasks the villagers can give you. The world is fairly big. You can run and jump all around town. There are invisible walls, but there’s plenty to explore. You can even move the camera to your liking. There are fast travel stations that are completely free to use. You do have to repair a few which costs money and materials. You can upgrade your house and the businesses in town. You level up, making your stats better. You can save at any point; you don’t not have to wait until bed. You can craft and get a variety of furniture, outfits, and accessories. When upgrading your tools, you keep the base one to use and receive the new one the next day. There’s so much, and I’ve barely even started.

This game is great, except the fact that coming year three, all main quests are in Chinese. Like wtf?
Update: Translation is there, which is nice. Game is great, would recommend.
