Ever had a situation as a kid where you accidently found your parents porn, watched it and thus, a new fetish awoke?
Well now if you kept quiet about it this wouldn´t have resulted in an ugly divorce where non of the parties involved really wanted you but I´m not here to tell you my life story.
Much like in this reasonably disturbing comparison earlier, I noticed that there was something I really like yet had no knowledge off. I´m talking about Sniper games. There´s really something to it being someone who can turn 3 kilometres into 6 feet really quick with the use of just one bullet.
In Sniper Elite: Ghosted on Tinder, you play as Karl Fairburnes grandson Generic McAmericanman on a mission to... uh... okay I... I have no idea what the story here is supposed to be.
I just accepted that you were a soldier somewhere in Georgia (Europe) and gunning down the local militia is just something americans do in their freetime. You know, german tourists fight turf wars using towels, french tourists are generally unlikable, and american tourists enforce their precious second amandement.
And enforce it you do. This game plays like a light version of Far Cry in a semi-open world with lots of stuff to do, most of it optional. You can either follow the story and kill dudes, or you do sidequests where you kill dudes. There isn´t much variation but then again I bought a Sniper game to go full JFK on some Russian gangsters and not to run errands for Ubisoft NPCs.
However, this may be a ranged focused game but it still gives you lots of options to go up close. Not in an recess at an american highschool kind of way but more like sneaking around as if they were building a Metal Gear somewhere. So this is a stealth focused game and going in guns blazing will most likely result in your life expectancy being equal to that of RedFalls playerbase...
Man, what a shitshow that was...
Anyway, this game is pretty generic, dumb, screams overly ambitious AA project all over the place and is quite janky at times. And you know what? I love it.
The developers may have ripped off every AAA sin from 2007-2009 imaginable, but their intention was to make a good game, and I heavily respect that.
Also the firefights can get pretty intense at times, and seeing a bullet wander through some discount Putins head never gets boring to look at.
My only complaint is that you can´t drive the Renault Clios in this game. Seriously, I like this car, let me drive it, dammit.
