V2 is better than the original Sniper Elite, but not really the sniper/stealth game that was promised on release. The enemies are somewhat glitchy, and almost always stupid with great accuracy and sight from long range. Also after replaying the V2 in the Remastered form, I could not tell you what’s remastered it’s the same game and even runs out of the OG’s game folder??? I would recommend playing in co-op if you do play! 6/10

Honestly I can't tell the difference between V2 and the remastered version. Just a solid excuse to play more sniper elite really. For £7-8 I consider that a solid investment in my entertainment.

Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is essentially the same game as the original, with slight visual improvements that bring it a little more in line with modern expectations. The core gameplay remains intact, and fans of the original will find the same stealth mechanics that made the game engaging. However, not all missions allow for a 100% stealth approach, which can be a bit disappointing for those looking to ghost through the entire campaign.
The sniping mechanics are still fun, offering satisfying long-range kills, though it's worth noting that the experience isn't particularly realistic, especially on lower difficulty settings where the challenge is reduced. On the plus side, the remastered edition includes all the DLCs, adding extra content and missions that enhance the overall package.
In summary, Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is a solid choice if you're looking to revisit the classic game with some extra content and improved visuals. Just don't expect a completely overhauled experience.

One of my fondest memories of playing this series is from the original version back in 2013.
Loved the stealth game play & bullet mechanics - with varying options from arcade style to real simulations (bullet drop physics) - so much that it got me hooked on the series over the past decade.
So going back to the updated version (remake) of V2 on the Steam Deck has been a lot of fun.
The game is fairly linear compared to the open world style of the later games in the series, so it's bit shorter in overall duration.
Besides a slight tweaking of the controller settings (default doesn't work with SD controller, so you'll need to change that), the game runs perfectly on native configuration on the Steam Deck.
Battery life will be roughly 2 hrs on this setting.
Highly recommended.

If you like sniping, this is an excellent game. Plus, Nazis are one enemy I never feel bad about killing. I enjoy taking my time and setting up traps. I just reloaded and about to start I think my fourth play through.

Would grab this while it's on sale if you're interested.
It's a good and fun game but pretty short and the multiplayer is dead so keep that in mind.
Gameplay is solid and fun, good sniping mechanics and the bulletcam is fun. The levels are not too big or too short and are all enjoyable.
It runs smooth and looks clean as well.
The 100% is quite enjoyable too, some challenging achievements but nothing too bad.
You'll need a friend to farm the multiplayer achievements with though (which there are quite a few of) since as I mentioned before there's nobody in public games.
Besides that there's only 1 annoying achievement which is to get 40 hours game time (in mission time, not steam time) even though getting all the other achievements didn't even get me half of that time which meant I had to leave the game running afk 20hours+ just to get it.

what i like:
it was fun while playing co-op despite its short comings but not so sure about the solo experience. keep it locked to co-op only for maximum fun. also the game had lots of subtle details especially considering that the game is very old, so props to that.
what i didn't like:
very difficult to play for long hours as it disconnects mid game most of the time mainly due to the client side issue. had to relaunch the game every time after completing a certain level which was quite annoying. the prone button was also very glitched as my character mostly stoop up while prone on a flat ground.
overall a 6/10 game.
