Recommended for Samurai Jack fans, but not anyone else.
The combat is atrocious. I respect what they tried to do, but I don't see how anyone playtested this and was like, "Yep! This combat is fluid and satisfying." It has a lot of good things about it, but MAN, the bad game design choices start to weigh on you after awhile. Weapons that break. Having to go into your menu to equip items and use others. Repetitive enemies. No XXXY combo. Or maybe I haven't unlocked it yet, but that should be open from the beginning! That's standard in games like this. I enjoy it for the Samurai Jackedness, but if you removed that, as a game on it's own, it's not good.

Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape shifting master of darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil. But a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time, and flung him into the future where my evil is law. Now the fool seeks to return to the past and undo the future that is Aku.
If this means anything to you, then please buy this game, you won't regret it. I had a blast playing it and it felt just right. That being said, I believe it's an unbalanced mess even on normal difficulty.

Note: This game got delisted. So, ya either need to buy a key (like going to Game Stop or EBay), stalk people that do have this game, just to abuse the family share/friendlist or beg Warner Bros. to bring this game back. Not just for Steam, but for ALL platforms. It feels as if all the Adult Swim games survived WB's tax write off purge, except this one.
2nd Note: I'm not done exploring the rest of the game. I just unlock the missions mode.
Controller Compatibility: XBox One, other controllers are unknown. I recommend using controllers rather than the keyboard, even though keyboard works just as well.
Steam Deck: I dunno if this game works on the deck.
Story: 'Battle Through Time' takes play in the last few episodes of the final season. But Aku did something again.
Review: The game is GOATed and everything about it is beautiful like the last time I watched the cartoon (Like Greg Baldwin's voice acting, it feels as though Mako didn't leave). 'Battle Through Time' is one of those 'video game adaptions of non-video games' media that was adapted insanely well (like 'Ghostbusters: The Video Game'). Usually, these types of games are not well done or they're just mid (If I like it). 'SJ: BTT' is a relatively short game, it only has a 9 stages/chapters.
My SIMP-ing for Jack was worth it.
Achievement Hunter Notes: They're 'easy' to get, some are 'finishing the story' chapter achievements. While others need farming, akin to how one levels up Bayonetta. But the 'Masters Of Master' needs ya to be fully maxed out in the skills/abilities department (Something tells me that it's gonna be like the indie game 'Awaria', ya only need to play the 'hard' mode to unlock some of the most difficult achievements). Also, according to a guide, a few achievements are mildly buggy and ya have to restart the game.
Completing the main story unlocks the missions modes.

The best Cartoon Network game. The combat is fun but can get repetitive very quickly. The game is much better than the final season but I wish they when for a cel-shaded look instead of the wired play-doh look.

A short but enjoyable adventure with surprisingly well-thought-out combat mechanics and enemy design that, despite being held back by less-than-stellar animations, still manages to be engaging.
For those looking for a challenge, know that, on the highest difficulty, some of the encounters feel like they came straight out of Ninja Gaiden 2. The chaos and amount of projectiles on screen can be overwhelming at times. Whether that turns out to be a thrilling or frustrating experience may depend more on your personal preference rather than your level of skill.
The lower difficulties should provide a smoother, more welcoming experience for most players, but there is a difficulty spike in the last stage that some may find off-putting. Don't hesitate to lower the difficulty to Easy if you feel like you need to, as it can take some time to not only unlock your moves, but also learn how to correctly apply them in combat.
