RUNGORE
RECOMMENDED FOR YOU
the Game
Have you ever dreamt about a world where you don’t need to follow arbitrary rules of your favorite card game? Like, making turns, or use a finite amount of manaenergyAP or whatever. If you answered “yes” then I have a treat for you 🙂
RUNGORE is heavily inspired by Slay The Spire and Loop Hero. It takes all the good parts from those games and smashes them together until they stick.
FEATURES:
– Idle battles (very exciting)
– Non restricted card-play. Have you ever wanted to play 100 cards during one encounter? Well, now you can
– 15 heroes with different strategies for each one to explore
– 15 levels to assert dominance over random mobs
– PETS
– Branching levels
– Hero swap mid level
– Meta progression that is not cringe
– Psychopathic tutorial guide

Can't Stop the Train, Baby!
RUNGORE is a unique and vigorous card-based roguelite autobattler played in real-time. A bit of a mouthful, I know. Overall, it was a fluid experience, except for one crash and the fact I couldn't screenshot for no reason. Too bad! The chunky pixel art is full of childish energy, reflecting the game's contents. The visual style reminded me of Toss the Turtle, the best launcher game on Flash. The music is so groovy it should be sold separately. RUNGORE aims to please your ADHD-ridden synapses. It's direct, brutal, it slaps, it's breakneck. It's a pinata full of saucy surprises. The game plays with you, subverting your expectations, and throwing you curveballs every step of the way. And it's actually funny without overplaying its hand. This is charming and novel, for most games that resort to their current meta-memes end up being cringe. I mean, I don't even try, no sir. Not young enough to belong, not old enough for it to be cute. Am I stuck in a meme Limbo?
All of the snap gives RUNGORE a cheerfully violent mojo similar to that of Hotline Miami. And, akin to games by Daniel Mullins, the humour often gets playfully expressed through the mechanics. The tutorial boss gives up after 5 seconds. You wouldn't know if you skipped the description and started using cards. That's a good lesson in reading comprehension! Thankfully, you don't have to worry about speed-reading in real-time since you could soon buy unlimited slo-mo. Now, down to business. You run, beat everything from frogs to cronenbergs to a pulp, roll gear and cards in between, take part in absurd random events, find secrets, suck on bosses, get gold, buy meta. Cards are expendable and initially do what you expect of them if you ever played a deckbuilder. It's how it all eventually comes together that would throw you off. Here, you build a hand rather than a deck in an unchained manner, and your builds have to be RIDICULOUS to be viable. Your hand is seemingly endless, and so is your ability to stack synergies until your screen cracks.
The game manifests magical thinking. You MUST go out of hand to win and the sheer grotesque of the local power creep is a sight to behold! Win or lose, the audiovisual oomph makes you feel every bit of meta-progress by smashing new stuff in your face. Equipment, potions, communism, etc. As well as a dozen freaky heroes with unique cards and abilities, all played so differently they keep the game fresh for the duration. The roster starts off innocently. Sword guy is a sword guy, bow guy poisons and dodges, mage guy summons chairs and casts meteor storms, hungry guy gambles with his health, megachad... it only gets more absurd. There's a method to that madness, enough challenge and variety to get quite a mileage out of the game. Times more if you want to experience all the insanity on offer. See, it's like a fever dream that goes in your favour. But words don't do it justice, you gotta play the game to sus out its hyperactive vibe, let its eye-popping sensory overload take you for a ride. In this genre, RUNGORE's pace and flow are unmatched.

I dont play many card games but this is one of the best and most fun card games ive ever played.
Biggest thing you need to enjoy this is to be able to laugh at yourself and be fine with dying many times before you find the working strategy. If you cant do either then yea the game is not going to be very fun for you, but otherwise its great!
buy it.

A very enjoyable deckbuilding roguelite game, what made me like this game is that every run you take is different from another one, except this I liked the design of the game and basically every aspect of it.

RUNGORE is a hidden gem among card games with nice visuals, good character design, enjoyable music, and tons of meme references.
The game is challenging, and you may find yourself repeating the same level many times. At the beginning, it might seem intimidating due to its complexity and lack of clarity, but with each new playthrough, the gameplay becomes more understandable and engaging.
There are many different characters, each with unique abilities and cards, some of which will be quite difficult to unlock. Unique enemies with different abilities - some will steal your cards, poison you, explode, and even make it difficult to properly move your mouse cursor.
The game battles are in real-time and fast-paced, so much so that you might not even have time to use a card. To help with this, the in-game shop offers a "bullet time" effect, which slows down time, allowing you to strategize more effectively.
You should check out this game if you're looking for a unique card game and love memes.

Playing a real-time version of a deckbuilder definitely takes some getting used to, but this game is a lot of fun.
The humor actually lands, too.
Usually when games try to appeal to meme-culture, they pull 10+ year old references in the most "hello fellow kids" way possible. Other games are pulling "Damn, Daniel" and "Le Heckin' Doggo" references and this game's pulling references to things I still see daily, it's refreshing.

I Only Recommend This If You Can Tolerate A Volatile RNG.
Things I Like About Rungore:
Gameplay, Soundtracks, Other Stuffs.
An auto-battler which you can play cards to enhance the characters. Just like the game's store page, it combines the structure of Loop Hero and cards & artifacts synergy of Slay The Spire to create a faster, more chaotic gameplay.
You enhance your character by playing cards during battle. Most of the time you are aiming for attack speed and power, but some guys have other methods for combat you can go for.
Something worth noting. It is not all about cycling your deck. The game likes to throw in some special enemies that can directly influence your cards. Knowing when to hoard cards and when to bail them all out is essential.
Because of the fast-paced nature, your character scales way faster than other card games, and crazier too. You can have an attack speed that match your frame rate, you can have the attack power up to four digits or more, and you can summon loads of companions that your screen can't even fit.
Enemies' designs are fun and intense. Some even have the abilities to play around your fps or your cursor.
I really like the ridiculous, cartoonish pixel art style, especially integrating famous memes into the cards. The animation is also fluid and mesmerizing.
Soundtracks are rhythmic and addicting. The calm version(played while you choose three cards) and wild version(played during battles) connect seamlessly with each other.
Usually this type of "in your face" or "ur mum" gag bounces of me hard, but somehow I enjoy these crude jokes in this game.
Things I Dislike About Rungore:
Volatile RNG
A lot of rogueliked/-lites have this issue to a degree, but none I've played so far has a RNG this volatile like Rungore.
Of course you can reach higher highs and become literally undefeatable, but the lower lows are so abysmal that you can hardly come back.
This is not those games that you can go against RNG with enough skills. The combat depends heavily on your card choice. If the game suddenly decides to not give you the cards you need, you can barely survive the encounter only to find out that you have no way to win the next fight.
Not every "guy" is created equally. Some guys have clear methods to build up their strengths, others are not so lucky and are reliant on the card draws.

One of the best and most unique rougelikes/rougelites ever.
The only thing im slightly worried about is that some of the humor might age like milk.
Some jokes are funny but some are just "haha, go kill stuff now" *VINE BOOM*
And by the end of the game it was starting to get annoying.
I also do wish that there was a truly random/rougelike mod, infinite floors, fights slowly get harder, random boss every floor. As right now almost all the stages in this game have the same events, fights and bosses just in a slightly diffrent order each time.
Would reccommend even if not on sale
