RONE
Extra Content
Free extra content coming in March, 2019. Two new 360′ street art films will be added to the gallery.
About the SoftwareRONE is a distinctive portrait of the world famous street artist. The 360′ film and interactive VR art gallery take the viewer inside Rone’s world. We follow him into the rarely-explored spaces in which he works – an abandoned paper mill, a house set for demolition, a crumbling theatre and more. The VR experience also transports the viewer into a Rone exhibition and inside his studio, giving them a front-row seat to the artistic process behind his epic murals. Most of the murals and buildings in the experience have since been destroyed. Through RONE you can now experience these lost works.
The interactive RONE experience consists of a virtual gallery where you wander through and explore Rone’s works on the walls and listen to an audio tour. At the end of the gallery you find a large orb where the 360’ video documentary begins. After the film new rooms are unlocked to explore; revealing more information, art works and films.
The award winning RONE has toured to festivals around the world including SXSW, Cannes NEXT and the New York Film Festival.
“You can’t find a medium more perfect than VR to transport the viewer into the ephemeral world of street art.” – Lester Francois, RONE Director

When I read the store page description street artist and then saw that he did mostly portraits from the screenshots, I wasn't impressed. Now I know that I couldn't have been more wrong. Looking now at the store page video and screenshots and contrasting that with the VR experience and this is something you just have to experience for yourself.
These are some of the most beautiful portraits I have ever seen. There's something magical about their expressions and how they are juxtaposed with the urban sprawl and decay around them. In case you haven't figured it out, Rone is a street artist who does mostly portraits of women on the walls of delapidated buildings in Melbourne, Australia and also around the world.
And it's not just the artwork here hanging in some generic VR art gallery. The art gallery is a carefully thought out and detailed environment and is an amazing place to discover in VR. The art gallery looks like a modern real-life art gallery that would be the crown jewel of any city. You start out with a semi-guided tour. You hear some audio snippets about Rone and his work and about street art in Melbourne in general. Once you look at some of the artwork, you arrive at the center which is the 360 video about Rone.
The 360 video is high quality. No issues with blurriness or any other technicalities. The documentary is well done. I found it entertaining and informative. Once that is done, it opens up 4 areas of the gallery that were previously closed. The Omega House is the room that really took my breath away. You go inside this abandoned house where Rone has created some of his painting on the walls of that broken-down house. This recreation in VR is simply amazing. The other rooms show short films, another a 180 video of Rone doing his art, and lastly 360 photos of some of the street art locations in Melbourne. The whole tour took me about 35 minutes, but it may take you take more time to enjoy the art.
While I loved the experience, there are some issues. You can only teleport around and it's a clunky teleport mechanic where you have to point with both hands to get to where you want. You can't face where you want so you'll need to turn in real life. Operating the voice snippets was not as smooth as it should have been. Lastly, once I re-entered the art gallery. my progress wasn't saved. So you have to do the whole thing again to unlock the rooms!
Rate 8.5/10. I've had several art experiences in VR. This is bar none, the best art experience in VR. I felt various emotions viewing this art in VR.

Such a brilliant tribute to one of Melbourne's amazing Street Artists! Remembered seeing an earlier version of this at the Melbourne International Film Festival last year. The VR Interactive Gallery was a real treat and being able to explore those run down houses and sites strangely brought back a lot of nostalgia. Amazing work!

Best VR Art Gallery app I’ve seen yet. The room and scale are huge. I love that they make you watch a movie about half way through to unlock more rooms. The movie has great hi-res definition and talks about the interior of a house he painted with his murals. Then you get to walk around a VR 3D rendering of the house. Super cool!

Stunning gallery and 360 short film. It provides second best way to experience street art with life size HD reproductions on virtual walls.
Works fine on Reverb G2.
