Rhythm Doctor
Save lives with your spacebar!
Rhythm Doctor is a rhythm game in a world where defibrillating patients’ hearts in sync with their heartbeats has healing properties. Slam your spacebar in perfect time on the 7th beat, and they might just come out okay. But beware – every patient has unique illnesses based on complex music theory: polyrhythms, hemiolas, irregular time signatures…if you don’t know what they mean, don’t worry. Rhythm Doctor is designed to make you learn music and rhythm theory without even realising it!
- 20+ handmade levels, each with their own story.
- Every level introduces a different concept of rhythm theory in an accessible way
- A large cast of doctors and patients feature in an overarching, character-centric storyline
- Play the story solo or grab a friend for drop-in drop-out local multiplayer throughout the whole campaign!
- Robust level editor to make, share, and play community levels! Use your own music, place notes snapped to the beat, and use 50+ different visual effects and backgrounds
- Challenging “Night Shift” versions of each level for the brave
(Note: 2P mode only works locally. Online 2P via Remote Play is enabled for this game, but it does not work that well right now due to varying latency)
Rhythm Doctor features flashing lights and colors. Please use caution if you have experience with epilepsy or any of its symptoms.

This is hands down one of the best rhythm games I have ever played. Each character is charming, even the characters with one song, and the music is incredible. This game is still (as of review time) in early access and it seems that any content add makes this game more worth it. A try musical gem.

This game has a fun story that made me laugh, visually stunning and VERY memorable graphics, and a great soundtrack.
Most important to, however, are the mechanics. This game does not disappoint. Since I have 150+ hours of playtime in other rhythm games, I thought that this would be a breeze. Having just completed the main story, I can safely say that I was wrong. First of all, this game was quite challenging in the best way. More importantly, however, I was mistaken in thinking that I’ve ever played a rhythm game before. In the other rhythm games I’ve played (eg “pistol whip” and “crypt of the necrodancer”, are “rhythm”) the rhythm is perhaps the least interesting mechanic; you just need to keep a simple beat while focusing on the rest of the game. In Rhythm Doctor, however, there are no other mechanisms; it’s just and your spacebar vibing with the music. The rhythm is much more complicated, and you’ve actually got to learn to keep the beat with the music; you can’t rely on visual cues to get you through the entire game.
I’m glad to have this be my first “real” rhythm game. My experience with simpler rhythm games did let me breeze through the early levels, and the more advanced rhythm concepts were introduced gradually enough to not be too overwhelming, but quickly enough to be a fun challenge. There were a couple of noticeable spikes in the difficulty curve, but those just served as a good opportunity to go back and do the advanced version of some of the earlier levels.
Including offline playtime I’ve probably spent about 5-8 hours on this game, I’ve only attempted about 60% of the levels, and of the ones I have played I’ve only gotten an A rank or better a couple of times. If you’re interested in rhythm games, this game is worth your time and money

The gameplay seems simple at first, you just press one button at the right times. But I think the simplicity works great for some really challenging and satisfying levels. Plus, the music is amazing. <3

This game is insanely slept on. One of the best rhythm games out there! It's easy to love the characters in this game and the story is pretty funny for it taking place in a hospital. Really great job, Devs. Keep it up!

This game is truly a joy to play! I am not currently sure how far through the game I am, but I know that I never want it to end! Each level has its own new gimmick to try, and has an interesting story! My personal favourite rhythm game, it really shows the devs put a lot of love into it. 100% Recommended, and a must-have for fans of Rhythm Heaven, Deltarune, Bits and Bops, and ADOFAI!

This is a rhythm game with a relatively simple concept at the start - just tap a single button on the 7th beat - but as you progress, it manages to bring complexity and challenge to it in a way I find rewarding to overcome, with a lot of good music and really fun visual effects, too. I think it's worth the asking price.

Rhythm Doctor is ridiculously fun. I first played it a couple years ago, and coming back and seeing how it's grown and developed has been delightful. The soundtrack is well done, the visuals are amazing, and the gameplay is crisp, responsive, and engaging. The rhythms can take some figuring out, but you'll get into the swing of them. "Dreams Don't Stop" is one of the most fun boss levels of any game I've ever played. I can't recommend it highly enough.
