I don't understand the achievement drama tied to this game. If you care for easy achievements then great give this game a go. If you are passionate about the game play then you don't need achievements to enjoy that.

Restoration is a short RPG encompassing the final act of a world-saving mission. Do you feel heroic enough to undertake the final challenge?
You are a dream-catcher, or rather, a nightmare destroyer. Saving people from the darkness of their hearts. Purifying them through diplomacy, silly quests, or battles. After the brief intro stage, you're thrown into the shoes of one of the two protagonists of this title. You're on your way to meet the other protagonist, whom you will be playing in the next section. Once you reunite, your final soul-saving challenge awaits.
That's about it in terms of the story. It is a rather short and linear title with only one ending. Everything can be easily finished in less than 5 hours.
Battle encounters are frequent, and the challenge is moderate. Fights can drag on due to the enemy's HP and a shortage of strong attacks. Level caps are at 20 and can be easily reached without much grinding. The pool of skills is rather limited in terms of variety and usefulness. The majority of magic skills are useless, making the supposed magic-based protagonist very weak. In fact, more often than not, he does more damage physically than with magic.
Additionally, you can't use items outside of battles, which I actually don't dislike, but it sure makes things more tedious later on. I think the majority will find this annoying rather than consider it an interesting design choice.
Other than the story and battles, you can also enjoy some puzzles and mini-games. There is nothing innovative here, but it is still a positive addition in my eyes.
Certainly, this is not among the most engaging titles I played, but some enjoyment was present during my playthrough. Also, it is free now, so there are even fewer barriers of entry for those who give a chance to indie RPGS.
Visuals are fine for an RPG Maker title. While most of the art is generic, the design offers some less common presentation features. It did not feel like most similar titles. Map sizes, their number, and the degree of creativity are about average. Not bad overall when compared to many RPG maker titles I played.
Music does not stand out. Not all tracks are generic, but nothing was really memorable or catchy to me. Good background fillers, but nothing above that. Simple voice-acting during battles is a nice bonus.
No bugs encountered.
Overall, while this RPG does not stand out in terms of story or audio, the design puts it a little bit above average. Additional elements like puzzles and mini-games are a nice extra. For a free title, it is worth trying if you enjoy budget indie RPG: 5.8/10
