Venture into the darkness of the Dream Forest and discover why it’s now called "Cursed". Meet interesting characters in a psychological adventure, solve puzzles and learn all about the story of Artuo, the knight who wants to be a wizard; Red, a fire goblin that was summoned by Artuo; Melchior, the wizard of dreams and his companions.
Red Goblin takes inspiration from a host of old school retro platformers. With that in mind, you will die, a lot, and when you think you have mastered the game you will die again. However don’t let that turn you off! Cause this game is not only beatable but offers secret powers that make the game experience a lot easier!Features:
- Explore 3 worlds; the Ice Caverns of Magi, the Cursed Forest, and the Nightmare Factory
- Different endings
- Eerie musical soundtrack
- Secret Areas and abilities
- Challenging gameplay
- Magical pixel art world hand placed (No procedural worlds. Everything was placed by a human being)
- NEW* Elemental powers to unlock; Fire and Thunder
- NEW* Completely redone code and graphics system
- NEW* Boss Sprites and boss AI

A fantastic throwback surprise. A modern work in authentic NES style game design. Simplistic, stylistic, atmospheric. At times peaceful and relaxing, at times frustrating and intense. Fight your own logic as much as the featured slope jump mechanics as you work your way through a world that speaks very little and lets you embrace a childhood sense of imagination, fervor, and challenge. It's charming, with a top notch, catchy, addictive soundtrack. First playthrough was a little over 5 hrs to completion. Short? Perhaps it's not that the game is too short, but rather that I really wanted more once I finished. I would like to see more diverse enemies in a future expansion or sequel. 5 dollars well spent.
Steam player synopsis:
Fell far.
Lived.
Threw fireballs.
Blobs died.
Jumped high.
Spinning death trap.
Walked in grass.
Falling spike trap.
Walked in more grass.
Appearing spike trap.
Double jumped across a chasm.
Floated like a tanooki suited Mario.
Missed ledge.
Fell in Spikes...wasn't a trap.
Just spikes.
Died to many Spikes.
Enjoyed it.
Alot.
Retro review: Would jump into spikes again.

While the game seems unforgiving at first it's actually a great game with lots of old school mechanics, sonic and games of that sort were built and thrived off of this sort of gameplay, memorize the levels, perfect your movements and progress in the game. I would definitely recommend this game to people who like a challenge.
One thing I would love to see for this game is controller support.

Game is great, the controls a little bit tricky, but it is not impossible to complete, it is a good challenge. Game is also entertaining, and the art is great.

Only played a little bit so far and although it's hard as nails, there is that satisfaction of getting to the next screen that you've been trying for 10 minutes to do. Fitting music and cute art make it less frustrating when things go wrong. I imagine things will be less painful when I start unlocking some of the specials.
Will update this review after I've played a little more, so far it's a worthy purchase.

Great game if you're looking for a reason to kill yourself.
