You are a slugcat. The world around you is full of danger, and you must face it – alone. Separated from your family in a devastating flood, you must hunt for food and shelter between terrifying torrential downpours that threaten to drown all life. Climb through the ruins of an ancient civilization, evade the jaws of vicious predators, and discover new lands teeming with strange creatures and buried mysteries. Find your family before death finds you! Inspired by the simplicity and aesthetics of 16-bit classics, this survival platformer requires fast-paced sneaking, both upon your own prey and past the jaws of hungry predators. Each ravenous foe in your path will be cunning, vicious and always on the hunt – eager to sink their teeth into you, or even each other. As a small, soft slugcat you must to rely on stealth and wit rather than force: learn the ecosystem and turn their strengths to your advantage. Maybe then you can survive… Rain World!

As someone else put it: This game isn't able to fit into a single category of game very well and can be instead described as a "2D platformer survival immersive sim horror rage game". It is an absolute masterpiece wehen it comes to world design, creature AI, movement tech design, background story telling as well as a masterclass in complete and utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It is hard. And sometimes, because all creatured behave not on a script but interact dynamically with the world around them, you will get caught up in situations that are not your fault. So this game willl sometimes tempt you to yeet your computer out the window. Nonetheless, its story and world design and the countless upsides of having such advanced creature AI by far overweigh this negative if it can even be counted as one. The world building is absolutely phenomenal. 9/10 overall.

I absolutely adore this game.
The scenery is beautiful, the worldbuilding is impecable, the creatures feel as if they were real and the difficulty is a perfect mix of extremely brutal but yet also learnable and masterable.
I do have some small Issues with the game though.
1. Sometimes the Creature AI is kind of dogwater, for example if a lizard just starts tweaking out in a pipe where you want to go, which would normally be fine if you have a diffrent path you could take to get to where you want to go, but if it's the only connection to the room or region you want to go through it feels kind of unfair.
2. The game does NOT hold your hand in the slightest. it gives you a quick short tutorial and throws you in immedantly. But that is not an issue about the game, that is just a personal prefference of mine. I did get the hang of what i need to do after a while, but i did have to use maps to get to that point. I wish the monk would've had some sort of feature to guide you more to where you are supposed to go.
3. The controls also suck alot, but that isn't a real issue because you can change them.
I have talked about alot of negativity here, but the game is really wonderful and it holds a special place in my heart. it is really addicting and I would recommend the game to anyone who likes a good challange.
If you have trouble navigating I would recommend some kind of map, like one from the wiki or such. but be aware of spoilers!
