ENG: My favorite is actually Railway Empire 1 or now 2. However, I have to say, this game has something. You can definitely check it out if you like train games.

This is a criticism outside the norm. This is more of a comparison between RC 1 and RC 2.
Both parts are extremely entertaining and worth their price. The developers deserve respect for the special paths they take in both titles. But at this point in time, RC 2 is not only behind in terms of scope and technical sophistication due to Early Access, but unfortunately some techniques seem to me to be a step backwards compared to Part 1.
The special thing here compared to Transport Fever or Railway Empire is that goods have to be purchased. This plays a big role in planning and calculations at the beginning of a mission/map. Overall, the puzzle character here is greater than in the other titles. Deliveries that are not precisely calculated “clog up” train stations and lead to individual routes coming to a standstill. The aspect of building rails and signals is subordinate here.
In RC 2 I think the following has been changed:
- The “wait until fully loaded” function is more convenient
- Building tracks and signals (there are now some) has become unnecessarily more complex, more fiddly, and seriously, I wish the old system was back.
- The difficulty level has decreased significantly. And that is a disaster to say the least. The first part was characterized by the fact that some of the economic puzzles were very difficult to crack. Now everything is cooked quite softly.
What was unfortunately ignored is the legibility of the terrain when planning the route. Like part 1, it's terrible. The new contour lines are of little help.
Overall, I recommend Part 1 to new players at this point.
Veterans should still access Part 2 here. RC 2 is so good that I finished it in a few days (four campaign missions now).
