I was anticipating this release & the wait was definitely worth it. I'm a huge fan of Sylph's other titles (Thrill Penguin, Garlic, etc) and am very happy to now have a killer action roguelite from them.
Quick Quest is tough, but with determination-you'll find yourself getting further & further than you ever thought you could. I'd love to possibly see more weapons, helmets, upgrades in the future.
Stop reading reviews and buy this game. Bottom line-Quick Quest is the best NES game of '24 :)

Hey everybody, I reviewed this game over on youtube, but for a quick breakdown, this is a roguelite game in the vein of Zelda 2/Megaman X/Wonder Boy 3, and while it lacks some of the customization I enjoy in other games of this style, I did still keep finding myself coming back for more.

Disclaimer: I received a review copy of this game for free from Keymailer and the devs, however I was not paid to promote this game and all opinions are my own!

Quick Quest is a really polished and addictive game! It's quite simple: you move left and right, one button to attack, one to jump, eventually one to throw secondary weapons (should you collect them in your run) and that's it!
The graphics are really great, a lot of vibrant colors that fit nicely together, and the sprites are well-animated too! The music is really catchy as well. A lot of very nice retro vibes overall.
Now, beware as this game is more of a boss rush with short platformer sections in-between than the store page might suggest. The main focus of Quick Quest is the boss fights and learning their patterns and your abilities to defeat them.
If that's your jam, strap in and have fun! It's one of these games where the first bosses destroy you as first, but eventually you get better and you defeat them without taking a single hit. And then, there's another boss that make quick work of you, and you repeat the cycle!
A really charming and well-polished game, perfect for quick sessions (my average runs, which never included getting to the end of one so far, are around 6 to 10 minutes, and I often can't help but restart one right after I died!).
Also worth noting that the devs are frequently updating it to fix issues and improve the overall quality of the game experience, a really classy move!

If you grew up on the NES, this is hands down the best recent indy game emulating the feel while using modern control to feel great. This is a game you can just zen out and going fast feels so good. For the price of a fancy coffee, you cant go wrong with this game.

Very simple, fast paced, linear arcade/retro/console game and one of the most addictive "just one more try" experiences I've found lately. We need more true call backs to the past like this.
Highly recommended.

I pray to the Lizard Gods that this 10th review blesses the algorithm, so more people can discover this very fun video game.
Update: Quick Quest is an instant classic that I know I'll be coming back to for years. I'm having a great time getting one or two runs in between work tasks. It's well worth the asking price.
