Pyramis
Pyramis is a H.R Giger & retro-scifi-inspired survival horror game, that will bring back the genre to its roots and modernize it in the process. The game is driven by its story, beautiful environments, exploration, and horrific themes. Pyramis contains non-linear exploration of most levels but mainly focuses on completing the central narrative. The game combines the combat of hardcore survival horror games with the stealth of non-combat horror, where your best choice is to hide, and allows the player to switch between play styles dynamically. This paired with 6 hours of gameplay, autonomous enemy AI and weapon customization will insure gameplay that is unique to every individual player. Pyramis also includes a replayable survival mode once the story mode is completed!
Pyramis takes place in the year 2011, following the life of Paul Cook, an Airforce Lieutenant who goes AWOL in Antarctica looking for his older brother Walter. An SOS signal his helicopter radio receives leads him to uncover a hidden world that lies beneath the earth’s crust and the true reason why his superiors restricted him from contact with his long-lost brother Walter. You will embark, on a simple mission to find Walter but soon find yourself fighting to save your own life in the archaic dimension, and make it back to the surface alive. Along the way, different characters will guide you through the alien world with the same goal of getting to the surface.

tldr; Like Alien-isolation but with actual horror and actually good. But enemies make it frustrating.
Very dark but you always have a blue glow around you, which makes it able to play even when you completely run out of flashlight batteries. The story is forgettable but the environment looks pretty good. It's paired with an "use item x on y" type of progression system that includes lots of backtracking. You will also look up a guide for some of them because there are a few that are not intuitive at all. There are also weapons but you will rarely use them, mainly due to ammunition shortages. Tbh, the best is just to ignore enemies all together and just respawn constantly because this way you lose no items.
Oh and you will find lots of placable nightvision cameras. But there seems to be only a single spot where you can connect to the them. Seems like either an unfinished feature or somethings the dev's forgot to remove.
I didn't finish the game. Going by a walk through, i got stuck half an hour before the end. The part with the gas mask was just way too hard and dying constantly with no way to progress is just no fun. You respawn, so you don't actually lose progress. But you still lose the items you used - mainly ammunition. Oh and some enemies even respawn upon reentering an area, causing me to also run out of health packs.
Tbh, could be an awesome game if you simply remove most of the enemies. The game could also do with some more play testing, just so the dev realizes that some of his decisions are detrimental to the gameplay. Like you stare at the good after going through a loadzone - why do that? Why purposefully make me stare at the door so i have to turn around? Makes no sense. Or not stopping time when using the terminal, so you get mauled while you buy ammunition - realistic? Yes. Fun? No.
I wanted to give this a thumbs down. But looking back, it is actually a good game. Just please, for the love of everything unholy, please devs! Stop enemies from respawning and tone down the difficulty!
