I really like this game.
The story is fun, the gameplay is really fun, the art-style is awesome, and the soundtrack is just absolutely fantastic!
(Honestly, I don't see people talking about the soundtrack enough, it's amazing.)
Oh, and the English voice acting is really good, they did such a great job.
My only complaints are Denuvo, and you can't change to Japanese subtitles for some reason.

the puyo puyo tetris series is my favorite game series of ALL TIME. it helped me discover my passion for puzzle games of all kinds and i have fond memories of growing up with puyo puyo! my first exposure to puyo was in Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX on 3DS (also my first miku game) with puyo puyo 39, and it only made this game even more enjoyable to me!
the game modes are excellent fun and ive spent probably days in total playing against friends, and the story is genuinely entertaining as well. the voice acting is so well done and high quality (bonus points for Max Mittelman voicing Tee in english, i may be biased) and some of the lines make me laugh so hard my gut hurts after. the music is absolutely fantastic as well, much of it gets stuck in my head. and most of all i absolutely love the artstyle, it really is in a unique league of its own as well as the music. i own this game (and its sequel) on multiple platforms and it just goes to show how much i LOVE this series. i want Sega to bring more puyo to the west so badly because ive fallen in love with the game, its characters and all of its quirks!!!
i wasn't too familiar with tetris at all when i first played this game, but its become one of my favorite game modes over time. tetris is a timeless game and format, and matching it with puyo puyo is like destiny, absolutely meant to happen.
my genuine only qualm is that this game, as well as ppt2, has some serious problems with chain animations slowing the game speed down when playing online multiplayer. i've never had this problem on other platforms, but on pc the only way to really remedy it is to turn off chain animations when playing online AND playing it in fullscreen instead of windowed fullscreen. this game is not resource hungry in the slightest which is why i find it particularly strange that it does this? but otherwise zero problems. i love this game to death and i am excited to see more puyo puyo in north america!!!
tl;dr, BUY THIS GAME AND PLAY IT. everything about it is fantastic visually and audibly, and the gameplay and story is genuinely so engaging and exciting. there is clear passion put into everything about this series and i think everybody should play it at least once.

It's fun, the problem is that it's dead. The online lobbies, only pros, no amateurs like me. And no crossplay. Still recommending it lol.

This game is a really good puzzle game. It can be challenging but it feels great when you finally beat that hard level

4 november 2024 update: Level 3.4 in adventure mode is bugged you're supposed to complete Puyo Puyo chains but the game always scales the opponent score to a point where it becomes impossible to beat it; thankfully after you lose you can use "help mode" to skip the fight, but still... pretty annoying bug.
Look… I just wanted to get a Tetris game that I could play on steam and on my gaming laptop; problem is, most Tetris games on steam have some sort of catch, where they either try to be musical games (Tetris Connected) or games like this one? Where they’re like mix and match ups? Like if you want to play this, you have to play Puyo Puyo, which is sort of like Dr. Mario, you have to match binary tiles in the shapes of strange goo-like creatures to destroy blocks and so on.
Thankfully, after watching a YouTube video about the game, I noticed this is a rather well made, simple, Tetris game with some Puyo Puyo in it, and not the other way around. There’s Adventure mode, Arcade mode, a shop to buy different backgrounds and characters to play as. I don’t care that much about the latter, but I really like the fact that it’s a good port, you can customize your keys however you want, the adventure mode is simple enough that it has a story -that you can skip if you want- and just compete for who can beat the opponent faster, and so on and so forth.
It's pretty darn good and I really like the fact that retains the ability to just sit down and play some Tetris without that much of a hassle. You can get it fairly cheap as well, but beware… for some reason Sega hasn’t taken out Denuvo from this game… it’s an issue with a lot of their games, sadly.
Recommended either way.
