This one took me by surprise. I decided to give it a try while The Last of Us was downloading and found myself completely hooked by the story.
That’s good because this is a visual novel, so the story’s kind of important. There are no choices to make. Or alternate endings. This is a linear story that will last you between thirty minutes and an hour.
But, holy shit, what an hour it is. Despite its short playtime, this is a story that will stick with you – whether you want it to or not. I won’t say anything about the plot so I don’t give anything away. But this story is distressing, disgusting, and distasteful. There are moments where it literally made me feel nauseous. So, yeah, it’s pretty fucking awesome!
If I have any complaints about the game, it's that it could have used a bit more art. The art style is great - but I want more!
If that sounds like your cup of tea, you might as well give it a try. For this price and with this little time investment, you won’t be out much, even if you don’t like it.

Definitely an unique game, it tells a simple story while providing detailed observation and description of body decomposition, you can even further acknowledge through explanations of terminology in the main menu. The game is free and takes about half an hour to complete.
Despite its short length, please be prepared because detailed depiction of decomposition can be unsettling.

Magnificently Morbid
Pumpkin Eater was honestly fantastic. The contrast between the watercolor art style and the dark subject matter made this story feel so much more eerie, lending to how easy it was to get caught up in. With themes of child neglect and mental health, as well as the scientific accuracy and vivid descriptions of the son's decomposition, this visual novel leaves you disgusted, horrified, and yet so engrossed that you can't help but continue. The developers included a glossary, a timeline of the story with descriptions of the stages of decomposition the son was going through, and full versions of the great illustrations of the son through his decomp. There are also save and load functions, for those who may need a mental break from the macabre content, or may face interruptions from the real world.
This little adventure is well beyond worth the $1.99 USD price tag. The length of the story itself is great for such a small price, and the glossary and timeline help you gain insight and knowledge into just how much passion, thought, and research was put into this project. There are also censoring settings for gore for those more squeamish, or perhaps those streaming. All in all, as dark as it was, I'm left absolutely in love with this disturbing visual novel. I'm looking forward to any more chilling creations from this dev and any of his associates.

Interesting short little visual novel, there are no choices to be made here. To play just click through all the pages and read along.
+ Disturbing gross morbid story
+ Having the body in the story decompose in a medically accurate manner is interesting
- It took me 20 minutes to read through. I was't reading fast either, so this it is a short experience.
- There is not that much art though the novel, maybe 5-10 pictures. Also several pictures are reused over and over again.
- The art is bland, I didn't find the art to be gory, disturbing, or interesting at all.

Welp, probably going to take a hard pass on the pumpkin pie this year.
Short but effective. Well done.

It's the first "game" I've ever 100% completed. I guess that's something.
It's fine. Just know what you're purchasing, before you hit the pay button.
I'd say buy it on sale, if you want it at all.
I guess it was worth the 99 cents I paid, to get my 100% completed games showcase started.
I've been a huge horror movie/show/book fan ever since I was a kid, so nothing here was especially unnerving or new to me. I'm pretty sure I've encountered some parallel to everything introduced in the story, somewhere in my past. If you don't share the same type of history, this experience may be different for you.
The biological accuracy is interesting. One of the websites linked set off my anti virus software, however. Always keep your security software up to date, so that it blocks dangerous things.
I'm torn on whether to give this a thumb up or down. It is what it claims to be, but the questionable website citation is a concern.

This one made me laugh a lot with how generic and exaggerated the characters were acting, but it was entertaining in a way like a B-horror movie.
The descriptions of decay were interesting. Art style is cool.
Overall, alright game. Don't expect much out of it though.
