Why didn't I know about it before?
It uses some wizardry to load my megamix+ songs installed trough proton on Steam Deck. Nice.
It loads very fast. And while you're browsing menu it plays random songs in the background, feels very nice.
It has original songs (16 atm), supports flick notes, double notes, and basically all types of notes that appeared in any diva game. When the songs starts you'll get reminder of all kind of notes that appear in this song, which is useful, as you might forget about flick notes if you play Megamix for quite a long time.
You can configure controls to your liking, and the interface for it is pretty nice. There are also skins and custom button prompts you can get from the Workshop.
Downloading the songs from workshop is like a magic. Long gone are the days of stepmania where I would have to manually put files in correct places, restart the game to get the songs. Now if I want to play Cirno's Perfect Math Class I just click on it ingame and it seamlessly is available to play. Wizardry, I tell you. You still CAN put the songs into the game manually, if you're so inclined.
There is also built-in chart editor, and many advanced settings that go over my head. There's also indicator on the bottom of the song that shows your timings for the notes, so you can see how often you're too fast or too slow. Nice.
Now, it's not perfect:
* I don't like that retry/share/exit buttons at the end of song are so small they are almost invisible.
* The song rating is inflated for the official songs. 4 star normal is harder than megamix 5 star during "challenge" part. I can adjust, but as someone who isn't very good at those games this is a bit irritating.
* There is no way to filter songs by difficulty. If I don't feel comfortable with songs harder than 5 or 6 stars and I don't want to play 1-2 stars there's no way to filter them out.
* This also applies to workshop songs. Almost all of them seem to only have charts for extreme, 9 stars. I'd rather filter them all out so I can browse the dozen or so that will be left. It's not like I'll be able to complete any of those extreme songs anytime soon.
I don't blame the game for having hardcore players being the ones most involved. It's only on 0.16, so I fully expect small things like that solved by 1.0.0.
