About the Game
Power Chord is a team-based roguelike deck-building time-resetting battle against the demon gangs of Helmoth.
Assemble Earth’s mightiest musicians, each with their own unique cards and gear, to fight your way through the hordes and destroy the only guitar powerful enough to reopen the scratch between worlds.
Choose from a diverse cast of kick-ass characters to assemble your band, with each member having their own unique set of cards and playstyles. Combo your different band members’ cards to unleash devastating attacks and shred your opponents. Be careful though because if a band member falls in battle you’ll lose them and access to their cards in future battles until you revive them at a pit stop.
Discover new cards as you bar brawl stage-to-stage, unlocking new strategies to take down demons and strengthening your instruments of destruction. Choose your way through a branching path filled with battles, merchants, random encounters, and valuable rest locations to heal and revive fallen characters.

Auf der technischen Seite hat mich das Spiel mit seiner netten Comic-Grafik, die mich an die Borderlands-Reihe erinnert hat, und der eingängigen Metal-Musik durchaus abgeholt. Man könnte kritisieren, dass man die wenigen Musik-Stücke häufig zu hören bekommt und dass es keine lizenzierten Songs im Spiel gibt, die dem ganzen Metal-Ambiente sicherlich noch etwas hinzufügen hätten können.
Das Gameplay geht auf Nummer sicher und setzt fast ausschließlich auf Bewährtes. Dies muss nichts Schlechtes sein, aber dennoch hätte ich mir hier ein wenig mehr Innovation erhofft. Das Over-The-Top-Metal-Setting mag ich, die Geschichte ist allerdings wirklich nicht der Rede wert. Insgesamt hatte ich einige Stunden Spaß an Power Chord, im Vergleich zu Slay the Spire oder Monster Train bin ich aber deutlich weniger motiviert, hier noch einen weiteren Run zu starten. Wenn ihr diese Art von Spiel und das Setting mögt, solltet ihr aber auf jeden Fall einen Blick riskieren!

I really love this game and I don't understand why it hasn't much better reviews. If you're a fan of deck-buildings and card battlers this game is a very easy recommendation.
