Pikuniku is an absurdly wonderful puzzle-exploration game that takes place in a strange but playful world where not everything is as happy as it seems. Help peculiar characters overcome struggles, uncover a deep state conspiracy, and start a fun little revolution in this delightful dystopian adventure!

quoth a conversation recently.
I have no idea when I got this game. This basically showed up in my library.
I progressed to a point in the game where I was laughing my ass off so hard I fell out of my chair. People were worried that I'd lost connection, when I'd actually collapsed onto the floor and was noiselessly laughing because the absurdity of the situation was just that funny to me. 11/10, I want to experience this game for the first time again.

Still one of the funniest games I've ever played. The single player campaign has so many fun and cute moments, but it's the co-op is what shines. I've played the co-op game mode with many friends, and it never fails to make us smile and laugh within seconds.

I first heard about this game from one of Noodle's videos about great indie games, and this game delivered said expectations. This game combines absurd comedy, physics based platforming, and a simple captivating story that creates a really enjoyable short experience. The co-op utilizing this puzzle physics based platforming and adding a rope leads to an enjoyable co-op mode you and your friends will laugh at the absurd situations you will encounter.
Although I have my qualms with some of the achievements being missable, the game story is short to where it is not a problem to get those achievements in a new game. All around I would say this game is worth it's price point.

This is a kid's game and it's not subversive. Because other people reviewed it well and called it subversive and it's published by Devolver, I was expecting something very different. "The industrialist who is taking all our resources is actually a bad guy" plot is not actually subversive. The very simple and light tone of the game is, well, very simple and very light. And that's it. I was not expecting so little.
Keita Takahashi made Katamari Damacy, which I loved, so when I heard he had made another game (published by Annapurna!) I thought I had to get it. That game is Wattam. It is much more a toy than a game and is very clearly for young kids. I made a mistake getting that game, and I made the exact same mistake with this.
I can't thumbs-down this because I'm clearly not the target audience, and frankly I blame other reviewers more than the publisher for not making that clear. And the game is not bad at all, it's just so stripped down it hurts. I can appreciated the very simple game mechanics and how the developers make puzzles and obstacles for those simple mechanics, but combine that bareness with the art style ("Giant Rounded-Edge Off-Brand Safety Lego") and it's pretty clear that it's not for me. The game is solid for what it wants to do (which is "be very simple") but I feel misled because I assumed it had something more. I did not find anything more.
So set expectations accordingly. I happily recommend this game to the ten-and-under crowd. The casualness of the characters is probably much more appealing than most other writing designed for that age group. They'll appreciate the clarity and straightforwardness of play and the goofy, low-stakes tone.
