Yeah the game is great, however even though my player has supposedly earned 10 million dollars this season he cannot afford new clothes or golf clubs. Why is that? Oh because the dollars are actually bullcrap and 2k really wants you to buy their over priced currency packs instead.
Why 2k? It costs 1,200 of your currency for a single callaway iron and yet you want 60 dollars for 6,000 of that currency? Are you kidding me? Why cant I just buy a game and play it, why am I always nickeled and dimed by scumbags?

Golf. If you find that concept in itself enjoyable... this is a fairly good simulacra of said recreational activity with functional online play if you happen to have pals of a similar mindset.

Not sold anymore on Steam but if you can get a key to this from some other channel and don't care about Online then all i can say it is a very solid golf game that allows it's settings to be tuned to your levels so if you are a pro or total newbie it is all fine. Just tweak settings a bit until you find your difficulty settings that give you a GOOD golf game. That is basically the tiny learning curve bump you need to do to get into this. A game controller is recommended. I don't get the swings right on mouse at all so game pad all the way this time.
As for why this is good for non-golf fans my background is playing arcade like Mario Golf and Leaderboard on ancient C64 and simulator golf IRL so not much to go from but here it is enough after you get the initial training and adjustments done right. I get endless good vibes from this time and time again and i am by no measure a golf fan of any kind but they got just the right mix here of everything you need to customize the experience.
Just don't expect lots of cosmetics. There is a broken store here in the game and the maker is a real nickel dimer i see from never games but it doesn't bother me much as the core game play here is just golden.

PGA 2k21 is the perfect outlet for a leisurly game, theres NO violence, No looking over your shoulder, No extra lives or risk of being killed etc.... Just a perfect game of Golf ! The ball and swing mechanics are spot on and it is graphically superb, excellent AI commentary and plenty of options to keep you going, I have nearly finished all courses now and WILL be updating to PGA 2k23 as soon as im ready.
If you don't have this game in your library, I highly recommend you do so.
Star rating out of ten?? ........ 12 !

I play this in a zen relaxed turn off my mind way. The game is great for this.
Intuitive controls. On "normal" difficulty it is a relaxed experience with many birdies.
Speakers are really good and it fits.
Graphics: ok. Looking at other games, like racing games (Forza, ...) or shooters or walking simulators, this PGA Tour 2k21 feels somehow sterile.

PGA TOUR 2K21 is a polished, focused, and quietly addictive golf sim that knows exactly what kind of game it wants to be. Developed by HB Studios, the team behind The Golf Club series, 2K21 represents a major step toward mainstream appeal while retaining the hardcore simulation roots that longtime fans appreciate. It’s not revolutionary—but it's one of the most satisfying digital rounds of golf in years.
At its core, PGA TOUR 2K21 delivers a remarkably authentic golf experience. Swinging the club—whether you're using thumbstick tempo or button assists—feels intuitive, responsive, and rewarding. The game strikes a great balance between accessibility and realism, giving casual players options like aim-assist and putting previews, while allowing purists to turn everything off for a more traditional, high-stakes experience.
Shot shaping, wind management, lie impact, and green reading are all essential skills here. There's a learning curve, especially on higher difficulties, but the payoff is immense when you sink a 40-foot putt after reading the break perfectly.
Career Mode lets you create a custom golfer and work your way through the Korn Ferry Tour to the PGA TOUR, facing off against real-life pros like Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau, and Tony Finau. Unfortunately, the licensed pros aren't playable—only your rivals—but they add some presence to the competition.
The mode itself is solid, if not particularly deep. There's no story or dramatic rivalries, but tournaments feel well-paced, and you can adjust rounds to suit your play style. Sponsorships and apparel unlocks keep progression moving, and there’s enough customization in clubs and clothing to keep your golfer feeling personal.
Visually, PGA TOUR 2K21 is clean and sharp, but not especially flashy. Courses like TPC Sawgrass and Riviera look great in motion, with realistic lighting and detailed fairways. Crowds are a bit robotic, and animations occasionally clip or repeat awkwardly—but the overall presentation is professional and immersive.
Commentary from Luke Elvy and Rich Beem adds a TV-style broadcast touch. It's solid at first, but repetition sets in quickly. Thankfully, the ambient sounds of nature and the satisfying clink of a perfectly struck shot do much of the heavy lifting.
One of PGA TOUR 2K21’s best features is the Course Designer, carried over from The Golf Club days. It’s robust, powerful, and easy enough to use after a little experimentation. The community has built thousands of incredible custom courses—from recreations of Augusta to fantasy layouts in the mountains. This feature alone adds infinite replayability.
Online play is equally flexible. You can set up private societies, weekly tours, or jump into casual matchmaking. Lag is minimal, and asynchronous play (where you don’t have to wait for others to swing) keeps things moving fast.
Where It Falls Short:
-No female pros, limited licensed golfers, and relatively barebones career storytelling.
-The visuals, while clean, lack the polish of other 2K sports titles.
-Commentary gets stale quickly.
-No post-launch content drops or significant seasonal updates.
PGA TOUR 2K21 doesn’t try to reinvent the golf game—it refines it. With a rock-solid swing mechanic, a deep and replayable course creation suite, and enough gameplay flexibility to cater to both weekend hackers and tour-level sim fans, it’s easily the best golf game in years.
It’s not perfect, and it plays things safe in some areas, but what it delivers is focused, rewarding, and highly addictive. Whether you're chasing birdies in Career Mode or sculpting your dream course, PGA TOUR 2K21 is a hole-in-one for golf gamers.
