Hard difficulty playthrough:
Not gonna lie, had an absolute blast with this game this morning. Took me a bit to figure out what had to be done to escape, but the creepy atmosphere is subtle, the penguins act as a nice tonal clash for the sake of humor, and the core concept is executed very well. I ran into some bugs during my many playthroughs, but aside a small handful of "real" difficulty killing the experience a bit I was able to forgive them.
The biggest complaint, though? It's short. Yes, there are four difficulties, but I still beat this multiple times on all but "easy" difficulties (didn't play that one) in less than two hours. Hopefully the devs do what Shawn did with Pacify and continue supporting it with one or more new maps in the future, or even a mutiplayer mode at some point. $7 is a bit much to part with for such a short experience, but I really do suggest this title if you just want to sit back and play a fun little stealth horror game.

Target Audience: Someone wanting a short, humor based experience, especially for streams
Summary:
Penguin's Dogma is a bit of a weird game. It's definitely a game that's short and isn't going to stay with you for any significant time, but for a 7 dollar title, I found myself wanting to complete it despite the fact that it's not a very in-depth experience. I can't even point to that X-Factor of Charm: the game is definitely rough around the edges and technically has some issues. In that element, the game seems to be something that you could easily overlook. It's AI is dumb as a rock and can be easily exploited, the level design especially on HARD makes you absolutely have to take advantage of that, and the game has limited replay value due to it not really attempting to randomize enemy positions or change up AI behavior
And yet.
It's one of those games where I laughed while streaming it, and I just sat there going “well, this is dumb.....but I'm having fun with it”. It's a game that sorta puts up a flimsy shell for you to play around with, but you can sorta take that shell and exploit it to have fun. It's very much the player who has to make up for it, but in the end, it allows for the player to do that.
I feel like this is a game to come to if you're wanting something that just sorta gets you through an evening or even for streamers only, in a couple of months when the price (yes the price is only 7 but honestly it's hard to recommend this over others) is lower, it may be worth it. I had fun, but it definitely
Gameplay Footage:
Lists:
Positives:
It's goofy in the right ways, allowing streamers/players to play off with it if they so desire from a humor standpoint.
The story is absurd and very bare bones....and yet again allows you to make what you want for it and tries to not be anything more then it is.
The idea of luring penguins into a room of death is fun on the surface.
Negatives:
Rough mechanically. It's obvious that the design was definitely changed a couple of times as certain mechanics only work because the AI is so blatently stupid, and yet you have to exploit them in order to make progress.
It honestly feels like a lot of assets were thrown in to the game to help round it out: which would be fine.......if the artstyles were similar. The penguins being so different and other oddities make it feel like a really cheap game.
While the design of the one room to kill penguins means you have to be somewhat clever at times.....it's also really really annoying as there's literally only one strategy to be effective in things.
Limited replayability as even the difficulties don't do much to help the game in the long run.

Quick fun, and easy to play. Remember to set the language to English, if not you'll be lost and confused.

A quick and fun game to play. The chase music is hilarious. Be aware that "Real" difficulty is the true game. This game was recommended to me by Usada Pekora.

I really enjoyed being chased by killer penguins. This game is short and fun, hopefully more maps/levels and penguin costumes get added in the future.

Enjoyable game with a fun backstory. The concept, music and gameplay are fun. I hope there will be more levels or chapters in the future to make the price worth it. I completed normal and real mode. Link to gameplay:
