Jump into a neo-retro adventure with Pankapu : a taste of 90’s platformers in an oneiric world. Pankapu is a narrative action-platformer that takes place in the dreams of Djaha’rell, a child troubled by a tragic incident. Upgrade your skills, find new competencies, switch your Aegis in real time in order to get rid of Nightmare's invasion: 'Fight for the safety of your land, dear Dreamkeeper' Told in the manner of a fable read to a child, the game has two levels of reading: the tale of Pankapu, epic and naïve, and the one about Djaha’rell's life, in the real-world, dark and tragic.

A sort of clunky platformer that gets better the further you go. The first 2-3 hours really aren't convincing but you unlock more and more skills which makes the game much more complex and fun. I stopped shortly before the end of the game because the game becomes extremely frustrating to play on keyboard. Most of the game is quite undemanding but the end becomes Dark Souls for some reason. I wouldn't pay full price for the game but it's far from bad. The gameplay design is comparable to the Trine series, but with more focus on precision platforming and less on puzzling.

It's a good game in my opinion. As for the controls, yes, they are a little complicated, but everything else about this game is good enough in my opinion. I got it for free when it was on sale, but it's worth it even when paid. I recommend it, especially if you love indie games.

== The Good ==
- Nice art, animation and audio.
- Combat and platforming is generally good.
- Lots of secrets and hidden things to find along the way.
== The Bad ==
- Its weirdly both too easy and aggravating.
- Very generous check-points that fully heal, but sooo many pitfalls and occasional platform collision misses that insta-kill.
- Hidden stuff everywhere is great, but that encourages you to explore pits, and maybe-pits that insta-kill half of the time before you can see anything, and that gets old.
- Some odd dialogue (maybe translation bugs)

I suppose i liked it, it needs to be really bad for a negative review. Side-scroller that does a few interesting things, but never shines beyond that. As it goes it ramps up the difficulty and (for me at least) lowered the enjoyment. If cheap probably worth it, otherwise do what i did and wonder how it got into my inventory.

I’m a bit old for this game.
I think it’s more suitable for kids above 7 years old.
However, I really liked the art design, color scheme, and the game environment.
(By the way, I received this game for free.)

Really cool game. A unique final boss fight. And a copium for a sequel!

Pankapu is a delightful action-platformer with a character-switching twist (à la the Trine series) that I recommend to any platforming enthusiast.
The game is relatively easy and a short length (10 hours for 100% achievements and completion), but the charm, artstyle, progression, and mechanics make for an engaging experience throughout. Not once was I bored playing, even when backtracking to pick up collectibles I didn't know how to obtain or flat-out missed.
I am baffled by the bad reviews of this game, which cite clunky movement, unresponsive controls, and frame stutters. I played with an Xbox 360 controller and only experienced a handful of times where I felt lag, not my own incompetence, was at fault.
If I had any criticisms at all, it would be that the game felt far too short and didn't dare to really challenge its players with the depth and complexity of the mechanics in a way that a twitch platformer might. Alas, this is not a twitch-reflex platformer, although there are plenty of sequences to trip up even platforming veterans, and I must admit I never fully mastered the mechanics, perhaps because the game only introduces complex maneuvers during its short end segments.
The ending of Pankapu has me excited to play its sequel, Pankapu 2. Having only played this game at time of review, I have to say Pankapu is an experience I would recommend to everyone.
