Jump into a neo-retro adventure with Pankapu : a taste of 90’s platformers in an oneiric world. Pankapu is a narrative action-platformer that takes place in the dreams of Djaha’rell, a child troubled by a tragic incident. Upgrade your skills, find new competencies, switch your Aegis in real time in order to get rid of Nightmare's invasion: 'Fight for the safety of your land, dear Dreamkeeper' Told in the manner of a fable read to a child, the game has two levels of reading: the tale of Pankapu, epic and naïve, and the one about Djaha’rell's life, in the real-world, dark and tragic.

It is a true fairy-tale adventure. It will appeal to platformer enthusiasts who appreciate visual style and atmospheric storytelling. The game is suitable for both children and adults who wish to immerse themselves in a world of dreams and fantasy.

A sort of clunky platformer that gets better the further you go. The first 2-3 hours really aren't convincing but you unlock more and more skills which makes the game much more complex and fun. I stopped shortly before the end of the game because the game becomes extremely frustrating to play on keyboard. Most of the game is quite undemanding but the end becomes Dark Souls for some reason. I wouldn't pay full price for the game but it's far from bad. The gameplay design is comparable to the Trine series, but with more focus on precision platforming and less on puzzling.

I have completed all the game has to offer and overall, I had a great time!
- The art is pretty good, I enjoyed the vibrant designs throughout the levels, and using some of the art to hide secrets was quite clever. It isn't anything jaw-dropping, but each level has its own charm to it.
- Story is a bit cliche, relatively average. Hero sets off to hunt down a big bad guy sort of plot, nice and simple. There are memories you can collect that I believe are supposed to provide additional story, but they're just pictures with no added context so if you're looking for lore, they're up for interpretation.
- Combat was a bit clunky to get used to at first, but I was able to adjust. You start off only limited to melee, but as you progress, you can switch your "Aegis" or mode to a ranged mode and a mage mode. This ability to switch weapons does make progressing through each level more fun. As a heads up, around the Gehod's Core level in the third map there is a SIGNIFICANT difficulty spike. You're expected to switch between the different Aegises quite rapidly and the boss battles need some precise timing or you basically eat shit. Again, I personally found this difficulty to be entertaining but I know that can drive some people away, especially for a game that initially seems like a simple platformer.
- The platforming starts off relatively easy, but again, there's a difficulty spike in the later levels where it becomes quite gimmicky. Also, I noticed that some hitboxes for platforms and obstacles were a bit small which can be a bit frustrating, but it was never so far off that it severely hindered gameplay.
- Some people were not used to the controls on keyboard, personally I found them fine. The game recommends to use a controller anyways, so try them both out and see which one you like!
Ultimately, if you're looking for a somewhat challenging but short indie platformer with some nice visuals, I recommend picking up this game and it's DLC during a sale! It's a solid game with neat mechanics to challenge the player to adapt and conquer.

It's a good game in my opinion. As for the controls, yes, they are a little complicated, but everything else about this game is good enough in my opinion. I got it for free when it was on sale, but it's worth it even when paid. I recommend it, especially if you love indie games.

== The Good ==
- Nice art, animation and audio.
- Combat and platforming is generally good.
- Lots of secrets and hidden things to find along the way.
== The Bad ==
- Its weirdly both too easy and aggravating.
- Very generous check-points that fully heal, but sooo many pitfalls and occasional platform collision misses that insta-kill.
- Hidden stuff everywhere is great, but that encourages you to explore pits, and maybe-pits that insta-kill half of the time before you can see anything, and that gets old.
- Some odd dialogue (maybe translation bugs)

I suppose i liked it, it needs to be really bad for a negative review. Side-scroller that does a few interesting things, but never shines beyond that. As it goes it ramps up the difficulty and (for me at least) lowered the enjoyment. If cheap probably worth it, otherwise do what i did and wonder how it got into my inventory.
