Overload combines intense action with awesome graphics to create the ultimate zero-gravity shooter. An engaging single-player story campaign, a score attack mode, and online multiplayer give the player an intense experience and lots of replayability. Destroy robots, rescue survivors, blow up the reactor, and escape before the whole thing explodes! From the creators of the classic game Descent.

I was in high school when Descent came out. As amazing as games like Doom were, Descent and Descent 2 were just absolutely mind blowing. The moment to moment gameplay, the graphics, the sound - it just made for a gaming experience i couldn't get anywhere else.
This game is basically how i remember Descent. If you look at the graphics of that 1995 game now, it looks blocky and super low resolution. But of course, i don't remember it that way! Overload looks great, sounds great, and plays great. It is incredibly fulfilling to master the movement and circle strafe around a target on multiple different axes.
I've mostly gotten bored with traditional FPS games. Even the boomer shooters that call back to the 90s. But this game is great fun, and is sorta an FPS.
Buy this if you liked Descent, or if you just like fast paced movement-based shooters.

It's Doom, in zero gravity!
When I saw the trailer for Overload, my immediate thought was "They are gong to get sued by the creators of Descent!" I was glad to find out it was the folks from Descent that made this game. All of the fun, full 3D, vertigo, shooting, is here and then some. Fully voices mission briefings, inventive ship designs, and gorgeous graphics. AND it works in VR.

Awesome game. Descent was one of my favorite classic PC games and this is that but modern graphics. Kind of surprised there aren't more '6 degrees of freedom' games, it's a totally untapped genre these days.

Everything the Descent series was meant to be. If you did not have the pleasure of experiencing the apex of late 90s PC gaming, you can get caught up with what the old heads experienced, but perfected with Overload.

You know how things are always better in your memories? This is the Descent that you remember. Not the one you played, but the one your brain remembers you playing. Yes Please.

THIS is how "spirtual sequel" or "spiritual successor" games should be done. This game is the old Descent blueprint brought to a modern engine, and then had the intensity cranked up to 11.
If you ever enjoyed Descent as a kid, this game is for you. If you ever enjoyed Forsaken as a kid, this game is for you. If you have never tried either of those games before, but you love fast paced FPS games and think you can wrap your head around 6 degrees of total freedom (up-down, left-right, pitch up-pitch down, yaw left-right, forward-backwards, and roll left-right, makes 6DOF) then this game is for you. Seriously, I can't recommend this game enough, and the VR support is so much fun too, though i understand why some people can't handle it. This gameplay style can be nauseating for some people even in 2D flat panel mode, I bet there's far fewer that can handle this in VR, but if you can I highly recommend you give it a shot. If you can do it with a HOTAS or dual-stick setup, even better.

Had this game since Early Access, and it's only gotten better. Anyone who grew up on the OG Descent series and has been missing that sort of full-freedom space robot shooter, this is the true successor. VR implementation is great, but fair warning, you'll need a strong stomach to play more than a few minutes; it's the only VR game to give me sustained motion sickness. The devs have done a fantastic job, and the community level packs are a great addition!
