Overload

It's 1995. I'm a kid standing in line at Comp USA looking at the new VR Tech. The guy behind the counter was raving about it and was demonstrating a game called Descent. I was captivated, but not with the poor VR tech that was 25 years too early, but with the game Descent. I begged my parents to buy the game, went home and installed it on my powerhouse Pentium 2 450 Mhz PC. I was in gaming heaven. Fast forward 28 years and somehow I stumble across this gem in Steam. It brought me back. Barely dove in, but the nostalgia hit is damn fine and I enjoyed the first 2 missions so far. Has the classic Descent/Quake era vibes with mission structure and everything feels on point. Looking forward to diving in more. Fun!

Awesome game. Descent was one of my favorite classic PC games and this is that but modern graphics. Kind of surprised there aren't more '6 degrees of freedom' games, it's a totally untapped genre these days.

You know how things are always better in your memories? This is the Descent that you remember. Not the one you played, but the one your brain remembers you playing. Yes Please.

Great Game, Love the Campaign even on Recruit you gotta keep moving. Tons of fun. Just like the original Descent games, which I loved. The VR is amazing. I want to bring a bunch of people to play this now. Well done guys! I would love even more from this dev.

I was in high school when Descent came out. As amazing as games like Doom were, Descent and Descent 2 were just absolutely mind blowing. The moment to moment gameplay, the graphics, the sound - it just made for a gaming experience i couldn't get anywhere else.

This game is basically how i remember Descent. If you look at the graphics of that 1995 game now, it looks blocky and super low resolution. But of course, i don't remember it that way! Overload looks great, sounds great, and plays great. It is incredibly fulfilling to master the movement and circle strafe around a target on multiple different axes.

I've mostly gotten bored with traditional FPS games. Even the boomer shooters that call back to the 90s. But this game is great fun, and is sorta an FPS.

Buy this if you liked Descent, or if you just like fast paced movement-based shooters.

A great modern take on the classic shooter Descent.
The controls are excellent, it feels so smooth and easy flying your ship. Even in some of the more labyrinthian levels it rarely gets disorientating and the combat is frantic and fun.
The graphics style sits somewhere between retro and modern and explosions are really cool with sparks and particle effects flying everywhere. I think it looks great.
This is kind of a niche style of shooter but if you like this genre you will know exactly what you're looking for and Overload has it in spades.
Now i want HD remasters of Descent 1-3 because the ports we currently have on Steam will not do.

If you like Decent, you´ll love this.
Lots of weapons to increase your chances of survival.
Upgrade points to improve your ship and weapons between levels.
Speedrun mode for those that like a challenging challenge.
The game feels really well polished, i´ve only had a few problems with finding the next objective once or twice.
Little holo-dude to help if/when you get lost.
Good performance on the SteamDeck.
