Our Life: Beginnings & Always is a feel-good simulation, as well as a “feel-better” one, where painful emotions such as sadness, anger, stress, and worry can all be expressed, then met with reassurance, understanding, and support.
It’s a wholesome experience that faces large steppingstones of life, while having a focus on familiar everyday moments. With notable amounts of customization for even tiny details, you can enjoy pleasures as simple as having a preferred type of drink and a neighbor who cares enough to remember what it is.
- 4 different periods of life to experience: childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, and fully grown
- Name, appearance, personality, and pronoun (he, she, or they) customization for your character
- Change your character’s details however you like as you grow, including transitioning to new pronouns
- Shape your personality, feelings, and preferences, then see them reflected in the story as characters remember who you are
- 1 love interest, Cove Holden, whose personality, interests, and appearance will develop in a custom way over the years based on his experiences with you
- Decide for yourself how quickly or slowly the relationship with Cove develops by setting a unique dynamic; from love at first sight to last minute confessions to always being friends and more

Jamie Last (changeable name) has spent the last couple weeks on a summertime high. At eight-years-old, nothing is better than what feels like endless days of school-less adventures, especially when you live walking distance from the beach. While coming home under a scorching sunset one fine evening, Jamie is approached by a stranger. The man is looking for a kid who can do him a favor, and he’s even offering to pay for it. He wants Jamie to please be friends with his only child. The person is Mr. Holden, Jamie’s new neighbor, as well as the father of the odd, and oddly named boy, Cove. Whether Jamie wants to play along or not, Cove isn’t going anywhere. He’s present in Jamie’s life for far longer than they ever would’ve guessed.
And then the long days of vacation finally come to an end. Summer may not be able to last forever, but Jamie can take comfort in knowing it will come back again someday…

I couldn't possible tell you how this game changed me, and for the better !
This is the best written visual novel / dating sim I have ever played, it can also just not be a dating sim as you can choose to only stay friends with the main love interest or even just not be fond of him at all if that's what you want !
The game also remember your choices, so your character and the overall story will be different from how you play it, giving it infinite ways to change things.
Also I should mention the dlcs, they are worth SO MUCH MORE than what they are right now !
I bought all the dlc in one go (which was around 20 bucks) and after 20 whole dlc hours I am not even a third into completing them !
Overall, wheter you plan to buy the dlcs or not, you need to play this life changing game that is our life: beginning and always (and definitly check out the demo of the second game our life: now and forever, it's just as good !)

Je pense n'avoir jamais autant pleuré, aimé, rigolé, dans un jeu vidéo. Une aventure dans laquelle on veut replonger, revenir et faire autrement, sans stress, sans craintes, juste un bonheur fou ! Tellement pressée de découvrir le nouveau jeu prévu !

Je ne peux pas lire plus de 10 minutes mais la narration est pas trop mal, les différents choix ont l'air de proposer une diversité intéressante.
MAIS les femmes ont des designs superbes et ton perso a des daronnes lesbiennes très gentilles.

Literally one of the best games I've ever played. The best visual novel for sure. I fell in love with it. I love all the characters - whether they're family, friends, or more. All the possibilities raise your standards so high for every visual novel you'll play afterwards.

PEAK GAME.
My favorite game of all time, I never played anything like Our Life, beautiful CGs, perfectly written characters and storyline, I'm not english and I enjoyed every second of it.
I love this game, it made me laugh, cry, dream, it's my comfort game, full of my comfort people.
It's a game that needs to be played once in a lifetime, it's so well-made, I don't even have words !
Thanks to GB Patch games because Our Life (Cove) changed my life.

One of the most immersive LN i've got to experience these past few years. I love the variety of subjects, the sensation of having full control over your decisions through each step, and the memories being the heart of this game : what you choose does count and have a lasting impact. Can't get enough of how sweet Cove is, and how magnetic and weirdly endearing Baxter is (thanks to the DLC!). I yet to have discover everything but I'm impatient to get the chance to discover more Derek's story during adulthood and other paths I might have missed as well. Thanks for the openness and the representation of the diversity our world has to offer

First part is a bit boring because it's mostly kids stuff. But then the game is really nice (if you're into visual novels).
It's sad there are no language options. I'm not native english speaking, so I sometime struggled to understand what was written, since it's quite often literary english.
