Our Life: Beginnings & Always is a feel-good simulation, as well as a “feel-better” one, where painful emotions such as sadness, anger, stress, and worry can all be expressed, then met with reassurance, understanding, and support.
It’s a wholesome experience that faces large steppingstones of life, while having a focus on familiar everyday moments. With notable amounts of customization for even tiny details, you can enjoy pleasures as simple as having a preferred type of drink and a neighbor who cares enough to remember what it is.
- 4 different periods of life to experience: childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, and fully grown
- Name, appearance, personality, and pronoun (he, she, or they) customization for your character
- Change your character’s details however you like as you grow, including transitioning to new pronouns
- Shape your personality, feelings, and preferences, then see them reflected in the story as characters remember who you are
- 1 love interest, Cove Holden, whose personality, interests, and appearance will develop in a custom way over the years based on his experiences with you

Jamie Last (changeable name) has spent the last couple weeks on a summertime high. At eight-years-old, nothing is better than what feels like endless days of school-less adventures, especially when you live walking distance from the beach. While coming home under a scorching sunset one fine evening, Jamie is approached by a stranger. The man is looking for a kid who can do him a favor, and he’s even offering to pay for it. He wants Jamie to please be friends with his only child. The person is Mr. Holden, Jamie’s new neighbor, as well as the father of the odd, and oddly named boy, Cove. Whether Jamie wants to play along or not, Cove isn’t going anywhere. He’s present in Jamie’s life for far longer than they ever would’ve guessed.
And then the long days of vacation finally come to an end. Summer may not be able to last forever, but Jamie can take comfort in knowing it will come back again someday…

Let's be real here. This game is a visual novel which was made for the girlies :) I am one of the girlies and I loved every second of it. I come back to this game every once in a while (bought this gem for christmas 2022) because it is such a wholesome thing to play!
Yes, it is a lot to read (it's a visual novel, duh) but for me it's worth every second! I like the soundtrack, the voice overs and the character design! Don't get me started on the new crushes and Hear me Outs I developed during the first playthrough (I am looking at you, Mr. Holden!)
Everything fits perfectly together and it's obvious that this game was made with love.
You can freely decide how your character looks, dresses and speaks, the choices you can make are sometimes more, sometimes less important. You will always have the feeling that it's YOUR choice and YOU are living this life, which is one of the main charms of the game, at least for me.
This game is so wholeheartly wholesome that it feels like coming home.
Give it a try if you want to play something without big drama, but don't forget that it's A LOT to read.

Our Life: Beginnings & Always - a game, that healed my heart and soul when times were getting tough. The story is beautiful and very deep; I related to many aspects and enjoyed the handling of the topics very much. While we are at it - the characters, all of them, are so lovely, well-written and yeah, I liked every single one. They have depth, bright personalities and so on. This story completely catched me and what really makes this game special are the choices. So many of them that can turn things different so quickly, not just empty choices that wont`t change anything - it makes the whole game, characters and all, more alive and helps you not only to read but also to feel. I can definitely recommend this game, it is my absolute best and most loved comfort game! The DLCs are also lovely, if you want to get to know other characters better!

Hands down, the best game I've ever played in my opinion. No matter what genre, for me nothing compares to OL and I've recommended it to many. It's fascinating how a little thing you said in Step 1 can be brought back up in Step 4 as something important. I fell in love with the artsytle, story and even more with the characters (Cove Holden, the man you are).

Sweet story overall. So if you like a cute, attached puppy, go for it. Oh, you can also change his looks/ ppersonality, but I didn't test that. Could get sweet.

It's a very cute and cosy Game, i played it after an toxic relationship and it helped me to forget that a-hole and i wished for myself to get such a cute relationship which i finally have <3 10/10

Meine allererste Visual Novel. Keine Ahnung, was mich erwartete, aber ich wurde begeistert. Es ist wie ein Roman mit vielen Wegen und Möglichkeiten, als könntest du den Roman, den du liest, einfach mitgestalten und trotzdem intensiv eintauchen und mitfiebern.
Ich liebe das Spiel so sehr. Die Geschichte ist sehr interessant erzählt, die Charaktere haben eine lebhafte Persönlichkeit, die sich weiter entwickelt und auch die Szenerien sind sehr gut illustriert, sodass man sie sich vor dem inneren Auge vorstellen kann.
Es ist unglaublich, wie mich ein Spiel so fesseln konnte. Ich freue mich schon auf mehr vom Entwickler. :-)

I picked this game up after a youtuber i enjoy talked about it (neverknowsbest, go check them out!
In the end, it was truly one of the best VN i have ever read, truly. The calming, soothing and just overall positive vibe was like a hug. The characters are really cute (I didnt realise I have two moms until at least 20 minutes in, lol).
My heart soared when i was allowed to pick my gender identity so specifically, down to my chest. To be represented by romantic and sexual indentity so well was also so beautiful and welcome!
I cerish this game and will play this game through again until i truly read every little snippet.
For the Wedding DLC i am going to leave a seperate review, but i recommend buying it as well. Especially if you also find Cove so very adorable and want even more.
Really enjoyed it, has many choices, good story, wholesome good vibes, and you get to be the ideal you you could never be!
