ONINAKI
Reincarnation is the foundation of our way of life. We celebrate the lives we’ve been given, and offer up prayers for the next. It is grief of death which shackles the living, and causes the dead to stray. Indeed, there is no greater affront to reincarnation. So do we turn our grief to joy as we send off the dead. But the souls of those who held back their tears in life still need salvation in death. A duty that falls to the Watchers. Their task is to guide the wandering souls known as the Lost, and serve as keepers of the Living World and the Beyond. The Watchers sever the bonds that tie the Lost to this world, and send them on to the next. They navigate the emotions of the living and the dead. They prize life above all else. This is the story of one Watcher.

I played the previous two titles from these developers (Lost Sphear and I Am Setsuna), so I did come into this with some expectations. Overall, I'd say it's a pretty good game, somewhere between LS and IAS. The story at first can be a little bit all over the place, but it sort of ties it all together in the end, with an unexpected plot twist which was a pleasant surprise. The combat is very nice, you get a variety of characters with different skill sets, so you can find the one you prefer and enjoy more. The one thing that did disappoint me, especially coming from the developers of I Am Setsuna, was the music. I mean, it was practically not even there, for the most part. I remember a boss or two that had a nice soundtrack, and the manifestation mechanic also had a nice soundtrack, but other than that, it felt like I went through most of the game with no music.
Overall, I'd say it's a solid 7.5/10

Oninaki is a game that I personally enjoy but I am sure many people might find it dull with an uninteresting story. However for anyone who wants to experience a diablo or POE style game that is more artistic with a Japanese aesthetic that provides a slower more grounded and methodical combat that is beautiful to look at then you might enjoy Oninaki.

Disclaimer : This is based on my opinion, no hard feeling.
Game has a good story line, characters, weapons, skills and environment. Don't expect the game mechanics is fluid like other good game. Repetitive features of enemy, NPC and maps makes this game looks bad, maybe Developer need to make improvements on that one. Worth to buy when there's discount, not at full price. But I will surely repeat to play this game again due to the decent story.
