A frenetic multiplayer fracas in which 4 players swing pointy swords, sling explosive pies & celebrate victory with exuberant aplomb. Choose from a wide variety of characters and bring the Godhead back to your base – before it unleashes its wrath upon you.

Fun and frantic. Works nicely on a couch with controllers. Probably more fun with four players than two, though two can still be entertained. Handling a giant cat head who makes you start to wander like a cat is tricky.
Glad to have run across this game!

Capture the flag may be one of the oldest, most basic premises for a game ever, but it is a classic that can be easily reinvigorated with a fresh design and a few modifications. Oh My Godheads by developer Titutitech and publisher Square Enix Collective is a multiplayer combat game that is loosely based off of capture the flag, and it succeeds in keeping it engaging and fun by changing up the rules and impressing with its colorful, sharp style. With a few tweaks in gameplay, it has a bright future ahead.
First of all, this game innovates gameplay by adding an extra dimension: instead of capturing an inanimate flag, you try to hold onto a living, breathing head of a god. When preparing for battle, you can pick the location of the battle from a huge range of destinations, such as the Aztec Pyramids or Greek temples; this, is turn, determines which gods and goddesses you can choose from for the Godhead. For example, Greece includes the Lightening God Zeus, and Mexico includes the Aztec god Tezcatlipoca. Every deity possesses special powers that can help or hinder the player holding it, and this is often the determining factor of who wins the round. Obviously, then, it is imperative to quickly assess whether the Godhead can help or hinder you, and then use or avoid its powers in order to beat your competition. An extra element is when someone succeeds in carrying the Godhead to the altar of their team, after which they have the chance to “honor the gods” by killing the other player under a time limit. From experience, I can say that the creative new elements that Oh My Godheads applies to a basic game premise brings a whole new dimension of playing enjoyment.
Another aspect of the game that impressed me was the graphics. These days, especially with the rise of Millennial gamers, appearance and “aesthetics” count for more and more. Oh My Godheads hits the nail squarely on the head (no pun intended) with its uniquely vibrant and textured game design. The characters you can choose from are not only various races and ethnicities, but also include different animals and creatures. The graphic style renders their appearance adorable but also fierce, and to indicate which color team they fight on, they sport different accessories and skins. The battleground stages are also visually stimulating, and the layout and color scheme changes with every location. Finally, each Godhead has its own individual style, and the visual effects that erupt when the Godhead utilizes its special powers is stunning. More than just fun gameplay, Oh My Godheads is a treat for the eyes.
The one critique I would make is the limited game controls. To begin, there is only multiplayer gameplay, and you can only play with other people by using the same laptop, not other people connected to the online server. Also, the second player controls are mostly on the number pad, which is not included on a lot of laptops. This severely reduces the number of people who can play Oh My Godheads. Some solutions to this may be including a single player version that lets you fight computer-generated enemies, or changing the controls of the second player to keys that appear on more laptops. Besides that, though, Oh My Godheads is a rollicking joy ride of fresh challenges and visually appealing design that has the potential for enormous popularity.

This CTF style game is on par with games like Gangbeasts and Sausage Sports Club in terms of graphics and gameplay. Frantic and constantly changing, the one thing I do think this game is missing is 5-12 player multiplayer, and ideally 3 and 4 team maps/gamemodes. This game is a great start for an Early Access game, having waited for a better maturity before release, so you won't feel burned or incomplete on this one!
While there is not a specific tutorial mode, the trials mode does a good job prepping you for MP gameplay, although jump attacks are difficult to execute. The built in FPS counter is a nice touch, and the only time the game suffers lag is on the trial with 16+ enemies, which is only specific to a trial mode round, and not to regular gameplay. Playing far enough through trial mode unlocks a regular flag for normal CTF gameplay.
With the godheads, each one greatly changes the dynamic of gameplay, with some being helpful, others hurtful, and a few others both helpful and hurtful to the holder and surrounding players. Ones like Zeus help kill other players, while ones like Gaia impair movement. I would not nornally reccomend using Gaia on maps with lots of movement/jumping, especially with changing goals, as that could prove very frustrating.
The gameplay is fresh with each map, which is very unique with different layouts and mechanics. For example, the treasure room has boulders that can crush players, while the Greek City has 4 potential goal locations that alternate positions.
The creation of individual profiles for achievement and stat tracking is a little bit confusing, but the built in AI mechanics and multiple game modes is great for adding further customizations to gameplay either individually or with other players. This game though is of course best suited for party gameplay, especially with 4 players. You be default have a rb-attack that throws a pie at other players, although as the trials demonstrate, these can be deflected back with enough skill.
Overall, I think this is a strong buy even for an Early Access game, and like Gangbeasts and Sausage Sports Club, I bet that there will be many more content updates in the future. The developers have been working on this game for approx. 3 years and are very responsive on Facebook, which is also great!

I did not think that a game of this kind could please me, but the truth is that after testing it with colleagues in a friend's house, saving the differences I think it is almost at the height of the Super Smash Bros, without losing sight of what is made by an INDIE study.
PROS
- Flow of movements.
- A thousand and one things that complicate the game (inverted controls, rain of swords, ...)
- A music of such quality for an INDIE product is appreciated.
CONS
- It is missing a network multiplayer mode.
Conclusion
A collection of arenas to play with friends from a PC. The game transmits a pleasant and carefree atmosphere between screens. The design of characters and environment is super peculiar and although it may clash at the beginning, once inside the game that simplicity helps not to get lost. Without hesitation, it would reach more people if it implemented multiplayer network mode.

Definitely not bad, plays OK and feels good. Simple as far as party games go. Not the best couch co op but that's fine if you get it for a good sale.

Local Multiplayer Arena Party Game
+ The gameplay is pretty fun. There are multiple game modes, but the main ones involve picking up the "Godhead" and either keeping it away from the enemy team or scoring it by bringing it to the goal (capture the flag). Meanwhile you fight with the enemy players with a variety of attacks and special abilities.
+ Each Godhead has a unique trait. For example one of them explodes when held for too long, while another is heavy so it's better if you throw / roll it. I think these add variety, and I hope they continue to add more Godhead types in the future.
+ Visually the game looks fantastic! Each map / arena is very pleasing to the eye with vibrant colors and a great style that is perfect for the game.
+ There's currently 7 maps which all have a unique settings. Some have their own environmental hazards like the Volcano level with platforms that raise and lower which really adds to the game. ( Although I do hope more maps get added in the future to prevent repetiveness)
+ Great soundtrack
This game is in Early Access so these are subject to change
- Currently, you can only select 1 type of Godhead to play with in each game. I think the game would be far more exciting if the Godhead was randomized each round to add some variety.
- Some maps have poor spawns for certain game modes. For example in the two deathmatch modes "Headhunters" and "Last Man Standing" some maps have you spawn literally right next to another player which results in instant spawn killing. I suggest they fix the spawn locations.

An entertaining couch co-op game where you can either face off in a game of keep away and football or run around throwing pies at everything that moves. Blitzkrieg all the way and don't goof up on your passes.
