Of Carrots And Blood
Of Carrots And Blood is a twin-stick survival arena shooter about kissing bunnies, hungry mutants and a lot of blood.
You will be thrown into a combination of old school arcade action, bullet hell chaos, cute retro pixel art and romantic love affair where the only thing that matters is to survive the never ending waves of mutants while defending a giant carrot and making out with your partner. Wait, what?! To release the tension during breaks, you can kiss your beloved bunny partner anytime in the game with the patented POWER KISS MECHANIC! You will need a steady hand and some mad skills to get on that high score list. Shoot your way through hordes of hungry mutants and saturate the forest floor with their gushing blood!
Crack the online highscore in the endless single player mode, play through a short but very intense CO-OP story mode or grab your friends and kill each other in one of three pvp modes, together on your couch or online!!
Endless single player fun
Survive alone against relentless waves of mutants, ogres and other crazy creatures. You must bring your very best carrot shooting skills to the table! One mistake means the end for your short bunny life.
10+ power-ups
If your carrots are not enough to stop those nasty mutants, you can grab one of the many power-ups which are dropped by some of the enemies you have killed.
Online highscore
You can prove to your friends and the whole world, that you are in fact THE most dangerous bunny out there. Practice and kill more mutants than everyone else to raise to the top of the online highscore list!!
2 player CO-OP
Grab a friend and survive together in the 2 player CO-OP campaign! A big surprise is waiting in the end.
2-4 player DEATHMATCH
Grab even more friends and kill each other in brutally bloody bunny deathmatch with up to 4 players. Show ’em who’s boss!
3 different PVP modes
Besides the 4 player DEATHMATCH there are also 2 other PVP modes. You can shoot your friend into deadly spikes while trying not to fall down into the depth of THE ABYSS. This 2 player PVP mode puts you in an arena surrounded by dangerous spikey bushes. Touching them means sudden death! And if this wasn’t bad enough, the ground is opening up and the crack grows into a giant gap.
Or have fun in the MINEFIELD arena. In this 2 player PVP mode you can activate plates on your side which leads to an explosion of the mirrored plate on your opponents side. Watch your steps!
Online multiplayer
PLAY ONLINE!!! You can play all of the above multiplayer game modes including CO-OP, DEATHMATCH, THE ABYSS and MINEFIELD online. Host a game or join one of your friends games.
Patented power-kiss mechanic
Kiss your partner anytime in the game to show him/her some love! KISS KISS KISS! But love is a dangerous game…kissing your partner could lead to certain death because you wont be able to move and could eventually be killed in the act!
10+ unlockable characters
Collect shiny brain pieces and DNA samples which are dropped by dead enemies from time to time.
You can fuse them at the Doc’s laboratory to unlock new characters.
Collectable vinyls and sunglasses
You can unlock 15+ original chiptune soundtrack vinyls, which you can use as background music in the game.
You can also wear fancy sunglasses, which will have a visual effect on the game…PLUS they make your character look really cool!
Achievements
Collect achievement trophies for successfully completed challenges in the game like for example “Kill 10,000+ mutants”, “Survive 5 waves without using power-ups” or “Kiss 30 times in one game”
6+ equipment items
Unlock special items which you can equip and use in the game to boost your abilities. For example you can buy the SNEEZE POWDER which makes the giant carrot sneeze and shoot multiple projectiles in every direction. This might be useful when there are too many mutants attacking the carrot, while you busy killing mutants coming from the bushes.
You will only be able to equip one item at a time, so you need to think ahead on what might be the best choice for your play style.
XBOX controller support
Play with up to 4 XBOX controllers in the CO-OP and PVP modes
Vlambeer inspired juiciness
The visuals and effects as well as the tempo of the old school arcade action in Of Carrots And Blood are heavily influenced by the amazing games and talks/presentations by the brilliant indie game studio Vlambeer. It’s all about juiciness and the “feel”. The more visual and audio feedback we have put in, the more believable the characters and game world got. That is a big part of why you hopefully will enjoy Of Carrots And Blood so much. If you don’t like screenshake, you can always turn it off in the game (even though we wouldn’t recommend to play that way)
Become the ultimate mutant hunter in OF CARROTS AND BLOOD!
Trite Games is a true two person indie game studio from Berlin, Germany. We are producing everything inhouse. That includes the code, the art, the music, the sounds, videos and also a little voice acting in the game.

Simple gameplay but with enough bonus content to keep you entertained and coming back for more.
Controls are very responsive which is a must for any good game. Highly recommend a controller on this one.
Lots of unlockables and a few secrets hidden around.

Really, really, fantastic. Simple to start with a difficulty that ramps up with a lovely snowball momentum. Good luck with 250+ post kill gameplay!
We start off in a really cutesy world remniscient of my 1990's cartoon theme childhood full of Bug's Bunnies and Animaniacs. The music is enticing, upbeat, and keeps you in action while you're playing the game. I was unable to watch the introductory cinematic because I skipped accidently by pressing the spacebar, which I'm personally fine with. Story always pales in comparison to the meat of the game: the gameplay!
Top down, arena based combat, protect the asset (Carrot) in the center of the arena. ..Yes, you can destroy it yourself, should you so choose... Twin-Stick shooting action with some powerups along the way. Triple Shot, Super Speed/Super Attack Speed, Screen-Wide AoE Wipe, Protective Barrier, and more!
Really enjoyed this experience, global leaderboard, unlockable characters, powerup items purchased in the shop, etc. Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did! If you enjoy games like The Binding of Isaac and Smash TV, you will definitely enjoy this game as well.

Video Review:
Summary:
This is a sale target in my mind. It gets a recommend because it's worth picking up at some point, as the base gameplay has enough of an alteration in the top-down shooter genre to be worth something. The fact that your core can be attacked by yourself and the fact that enemies take you down in one hit, that's a nice change of pace for the genre, and does make it stand out a bit. The animation and art is great, even with characters like PewdiePie making an apperance. But where the game majorly suffers is variety: it's the same thing very, very quickly, and doesn't have the lasting power to keep your entertained over a long haul. The unlocks do small things to help, but enemy and arena variety would have gone a long way to help the game out: and it fails at it. And it doesn't help that the online play is ancient: this is 2016 and you're asking for IP host/join in game, with Steam as your base platform? Not a good move. In the end, I'd wait for a sale regardless, as while I had fun, I can't say that you're going to get your moneys worth at this current price, but eventually, you will.
Lists:
Positives:
Base gameplay is good. Solid controls, and some good powerups that can cause chaos.
Dying to one hit while the core doesn't means you can't just throw yourself in front of enemies; you've got to consider your own life, and the risks you take.
Like the fact that you can hit the carrot core in question. Makes skill shots around it mean something.
Good gameplay options in the options menu. If you hate yourself, turn on the weak carrot mode.
Can cause good chaos in the coop battle, reviving your friends while running for your life.
A good soundtrack......
Negatives:
Variety lacks. The game falls into a pattern that causes a bit of a problem over the long term: the main gameplay is the same variation of enemies and items over and over again, with not a lot to spice it up. After an hour of gameplay, you've seen the base content here.
It's 2016. If your game is host/joining via IP when Steam is the framework.....you're probably doing something wrong.
At the bloody difficulty, that's where the game starts seeing some problems in frame rate when you've got a lot on screen.
The Soundtrack really isn't used that well. You'll be hearing the same base music over and over again unless you go and change it yourself.
Multiplayer games are very very basic.
Visual effects don't really help for me. It's artificial in terms of value added.

tried ages ago, for a few secs, with keyboard, and my reaction was: "meh"
tried again, for half an hour, yesterday, with controller, and my reaction changed into: "OMG"
if you like twin-stick games (and already tried it, give Carrots a second chance) this is a must.
a big, fat, thumb up

I picked this one up not expecting much, loved the cartoony look and the games personality right off the bat.
Music is really well done as well.
It's one of those games that you do the same thing over and over till you get better. Unlocking equipables and new characters along the way.
Point being for 4 bucks (on sale) I can see putting some hours into it on a night I just need to relax by shooting everything.
One of the biggest things that has me googling things is this game has some mysteries too it. If you see this one on sale and your like hmmm should I? Do you like cartoon voilence? Do you want some bullet hell while protecting a giant ass carrot? Then JUST try it. :) I'm Glad I did.

"NO, WE DIED BECAUSE YOU WOULDN'T STOP KISSING!!"
Was really not expecting to like this as much as I did. It's a great 2-person, couch co-op game you can play with someone who isn't really into games, yet get hooked on yourself. Simple, addictive, good amount of unlockables, and pretty cheap.
For a couple bucks (or under a buck on sale), honestly just try it.
