In itself its great and the base game (without the DLCs) is really fun. With multiple Weapons, each with its own Abilities and techniques, aswell as 3 different stances you have alot to choose from. For each playstyle there is something to be found: Want to be really fast? Tonfas or double katanas do the job, Want something heavy? Go For axes or spears, they pack a mean punch. Each can be used with 3 different stances (light, normal and heavy) with its own Advantages and Disadvantages. Not to forget the 3 different range weapons, aswell as ALOT of different support items like shurikens, buffs, debuffs etc. which makes everything abit more interesting. Did i forget the multiple elements with their own effects? or multiple armor effects? So yeah, an incredible amount of ways to play the game and thats where the game shines. Difficulty wise its like any soulslike. Very hard but depending on your playstyle abit different for each and everyone. All in all its fun and the bosse are also unique and have their own styles. Levels are unique aswell and different from each other. It took me around 50 hours, with every sidemissions. So your money is well spent.
In terms of story it gets confusing and is not really important. Its very shallow and well it just exists. Nothing to say about it other than its boring and shallow but doesnt destroy the game experience, because the game is mainly focused on gameplay and the variety of playstyles.
Sadly there is a big flaw, atleast for me
If you continue past the mainstory its gets very frustrating and disappointing. The DLCs are pretty lazy and recycle ALOT of bosses from the mainstory and it just gets tiring. It mainly comes down to this: fight 2 bosses together, which is REALLY ANNOYING and actually at that point isnt fun anymore or fight multiple WAVES of monster with a boss at the end. And there are MULTIPLE mission where you have todo that. Mainly side missions but its still very annoying if you want to 100% the game. Depending on how much you grind for gear and such it can take really long to clear those missions. There is nothing more frustrating than having to fight 15- 20 minutes against NPC players in waves, only for a boss to appear at the end who basically oneshots you with one clean hit. After that you can repeat the whole process. There is no fun in that, its only frustrating. If you like highly frustrating bosses and missions, go for it. But for me its more of a bad game design than fun at this point
Generally its a great Soulslike i can highly recommend. Only the DLCs are questionable

A very wierd game it is in itself with very repetetive gameplay like souls like usually do but this game also repeats itself in things like the enemys are reused in every lvl. I cant really remember anything outstanding and worth playing it was unly worth for me to finish because the gameplay itself was kind of entertaining. Maybe Nioh 2 will be better but nioh was a wierd expirence.

very good game.
combat, story, atmosphere, character progression are all great.
there are some overlaps with nioh 2 as nioh 2 resuses some areas of nioh 1.
A newcomer to the serious should probably start with nioh 2 as its more accessible, although i find nioh 1 to be the slightly better game.

7/10

Love this game. Enjoyable fighting but hard bosses. Calling for help is very useful.
