Mutrix
The Mutrix is a VR sports music rhythm game designed by professional sports coaches, music composers, and experienced artists and motion designers. It has gained recognition and popularity among numerous users, including some celebrity artists, as an essential game for their daily exercise and stress relief.
The three core elements of the Mutrix are music, sports, and immersive visuals.
———- Music ———-
The game features over 50 songs in various genres such as pop, rock, electronic, rap, and traditional Chinese music. Each song’s chart is professionally crafted by musicians to match the movements and rhythm requirements of the sports coaches, aiming to provide players with a satisfying experience of moving to the beat of the music. Additionally, the game supports the import of third-party song charts, allowing players to enjoy their favorite songs in a simple way.
———- Sports ———-
In terms of sports, different difficulty levels and exercise intensities, including light, moderate, advanced, and professional, are designed by sports coaches to meet the diverse exercise needs of users. The Mutrix has also developed a calorie consumption calculation system that calculates the number of calories burned during each exercise session based on the user’s movement trajectory and intensity. Extensive testing with various sports wearables has shown that the calculated values align closely with those displayed on the devices.
———- Visual ———-
For visual immersion, the game incorporates a level-based gameplay where each level represents a distinctive and well-known city, such as Xi’an, Hangzhou, Shanghai, and Ordos. The Mutrix team conducted on-site research and created songs and charts that align with the cultural and historical background of each level. Players can fully immerse themselves in a visual and auditory feast, for example, fans of the Jiu Bao Band must try the Ordos level, and fans of Hangzhou should not miss the song “Battle of West Lake.”
=======================
To enhance the game’s replayability, the Mutrix introduced the “Extreme Challenge” for high-level players, which consists of consecutive songs with increasing difficulty levels, testing who can persist until the end. The “Theme Challenge Tournament” provides a competitive stage for music enthusiasts to compete for rankings.
Finally, the team is developing a multiplayer social competitive mode, where players can create their own avatars, change outfits, and immerse themselves in outer space scenery with a view of nebulae through windows. They can chat, listen to music, and engage in exciting PK battles with other players on the same stage.
The Mutrix team is committed to continuously updating the game with new activities, combining gameplay, sports, and fitness with fun and popular events, ensuring a balance between exercise and social interaction.

Good fun, lost of colors and the songs get progressively harder, My only issue is i lose haptic feedback on controllers randomly when playing a map
Edit: i played for a bit longer and found there is a lot more to do than simply a campaign mode, highly recommend if you want to try something different, but with a familiar feel.

First, I don't own Beat Saber so I can't compare the two games. Personally I really like this one despite some bugs (see below). The music is mostly very good and there's a metric ton of game modes in varous difficulties to explore. The Graphics are good and I didn't experiece any lag or delayed notes. I incorporate it into my workout routine and man do I work up a sweat.
The bugs:
- If the sabers touch each other or a wall I lose haptic feedback on the beats. It comes back if I loosen and then tighten my grip on the controllers.
- When completing a song in free mode after there are no more unlockable songs (level 40 I think), I get stuck in a black screen with the controller beams visible and working but not going back to the menu. I have to force exit and restart the game.
- Not really a bug but I don't seem to find a way to exit the game other than using Steam Overlay. Maybe I'm too dumb to find it but if there isn't it would be nice to have.
I hope the developers can and will fix the bugs but regardless I absolutely recommend trying this game. For 5 quid it's a real steal.

This is the game I play most on my VR. I can't believe how much fun it is! Ridiculously good fun!
I can't compare it to Beat Sabre as I've never played it but going by the gameplay videos I've seen, I'd say that Mutrix is better.
I simply love this game!

For 5 dollars I was impressed with the menu environment area. My main dislike for the game is the slicing the target haptics disappear after 15 seconds and rarely come back if at all. After awhile, I just forgot about haptics and continued on playing. Another gripe is that I couldn't recenter my play position either thru in-game or on my headset. I had to stand where the game wants me to whether I wanted to or not. Which made me move off camera mark as I live stream. In the future I will download custom songs and try it out. Beat Saber cost 30 dollars and is way more fun but at 5 bucks, it's okay as a budget game.
It's been a few days since I played Mutrix and so I went back to try downloading custom songs. My opinion has now been changed. I can now recommend this game even though there still has problems because it cost only 5 dollars to access all custom songs.
You can easily copy and paste custom songs from Beat Saber folders to Mutrix or get them from beatsaver.com. Get this even if you have Beat Saber just for the different types of environments. Beat Saber is still better than this but it's nice to have a cheaper alternative.

Kid: Mom, can we have Beat Saber?
Mom: You already have Beat Saber at home.

So yeah this is a budget-priced Beat Saber clone. The devs here have unashamedly made their own Beat Saber clone which is probably as close to Beat Saber as you can legally get without probably being suited (as a lawyer, this statement is made solely for review / entertainment purposes, notice the several qualifying probablies, which means there is no certainty and is in no way intended as legal advice, however, if the devs at Mutrix want to pay me millions of dollars for my non-expert legal advice, they can consult me privately).
Is it as good as Beat Saber? No. Would anyone ever confuse this for the real Beat Saber? Probably not, unless they are very inebriated. The big differences are the UI, which is not as smooth and polished as the real Beat Saber and, obviously, the soundtrack, which is nowhere as good.
However, the gameplay is pretty similar. There may be a lawsuit in the future due to this. It almost looks the same. I wouldn't confuse one for the other, but maybe some VR noobs would (the preceding is not meant to be used as expert testimony in a court of law, it is solely for entertainment purposes). But you're probably wondering if you can play your custom songs from beatsaver unofficial website. Yes, yes you can. I did and it's magnificent.
So for $4.99 USD is it worth it? I think so. Gameplay wise I really couldn't tell you the difference. I think maybe Beat Saber is a tad bit more responsive, but that might just be my imagination. For less than $5 bucks, you could do a lot worse in VR. With the custom song support, this is a no-brainer unless you already have Beat Saber that is.
Rate 7/10. Early Impressions Score. I don't mind spending $5 for a clone.
