Mutants and monsters unleash maniacal carnage on the gridiron in THIS action packed, arcade-style football game. Mutant Football League delivers intense online multiplayer action, deep strategy and deadly humor. Fantastical arenas full of ruthless fans and deadly traps set the stage for mayhem in every contest that allows players to win by highest score or by killing and eradicating their opponents – a feat made easier as teams use their unique [Dirty Tricks] (dirty tricks) such as [Bribe the Ref] (bribe the ref) to overturn a call or having a player become [Ginormous] (ginormous) to grow in size and pummel the puny combatants in their path. Whenever a game begins you’ll quickly discover the only predictable element is broken bones.

Uninstalled Madden 24 because it's a laggy unplayable mess on PC. Installed this right after to play with a buddy and we ended up playing it most of the night. My stomach hurts from laughing so much. GREAT JOB.

A fun arcade football (handegg) experience that works well on the Steam Deck.
What it lacks in depth, it makes up for it silly antics and carnage. Now with a free Dynasty DLC where you can build up your own team. There's a nice blend of satire and humour, which fans of the NFL will get.
Commentary is decent, although has some very out of the blue references and swearing. Which in hindsight, shouldn't be expected as the game is 18 rated.

For those who have never heard of gridiron football before, this game is a FANTASTIC intro on how it works. You get to learn how offenses and defenses make plays, what the BEST play is for a certain situation, and how to make the most of the players you have out there. Want to see if you can convert a 3rd and 14 running a hail mary?? Or maybe you want to see exactly why running blitz for a pass play instead of zone or man is a BAD IDEA.
Point is, its whimsical, fucking hilarious at times, and educational.

So, i just realized they update the rosters every year to keep up with NFL teams..... something you have to pay $60 a year for to play each new Madden for the same game play. That alone is worth my recommend.

I love this game. For my money, this game is 100x the game that Madden or any other FB game is (with the possible exception of Tecmo SuperBowl, but hey, let's not go back 30+ years). Simple game play...you can basically play it right after install...no complicated team set up...no need for 12 fingers on each hand to perform your actions...and, you know what...no micro-transactions. Just pure, arcade style football. Fun, goofy, and less expensive than other football games. When I'm looking for fun, action packed football, this is the game I boot up.
