Pretty fun and compentent top-down shooter that infuses the "survivors" gameplay elements into a more traditional mission based top-down shooter.
I also like that this game varies the gameplay by offering different weapons or objectives per level, and slowly introducing you to the abilities and upgrades. (There's also like boost pads or something that reminds me of the "slide" in the board game sorry!). Varied locations, too! - nice to see something unique each level instead of the same boring arena over and over again!
The survivors like mechanics are just a series of straight forward stat upgrades that are reset on a per-level basis. And also manually activated abilities with cooldowns.
There's a campaign and then also traditional survivors-like levels to play on.
I was pleasantly surprised by how fun and engaging it was, how it gently introduced you to new mechanics, instead of just throwing you in the deep end with everything unlocked and "oh, here are ten pages of text to tell you what to do". Nah, it's just one or two things at a time, much appreciated so I get to shoot stuff in-between reading.

I played the demo back during Next Fest, and there was a lot I liked - and it was a title that I looked forward to. Unexpectedly I received a free key from the developer.
The full game captures that "One more time," feeling that so few games seem to pull off now. I love that about Morbid Inhale. I started with the campaign, and was surprised at the length. I think it could use some slight improvements, like a display of some kind that tells you how many waves there are. It felt sporadic where it'd pop up that there were 5 waves left, and then a final wave notification. I had no idea how many waves to expect, when waves started, or ended. It's a minor complaint though.
Before I talk about the gameplay itself, I feel like I should praise the music used in the game. It's rock, I'd say, and it's rather fitting for the game. It's probably my favorite part of the game.
And now, gameplay. At the heart of the game is a central mechanic. Shoot zombies. To make the game a bit more complex we get 3 special abilities, upgrades, and lots of weapons. The shooting of zombies is entertaining, though I think a lot of that falls on which weapon you get. I used the machine gun most of the time as combined with your fire bullets special it's an absolutely fantastic option. Some weapons like the grenade launcher or rocket launcher were just too slow even when you fully upgrade the reload upgrade. HAH! I said upgrade twice. Now you know this isn't some AI nonsense, but instead written by a real human. Neat.
I can't remember all of the weapons. Shotguns, assault rifles, machine gun, some laser thing, a bug zapper weapon of sorts, and uh.. Submachine gun. They all have their merit, and what you use will likely end up being based on what is available plus whatever your preference is. And that's fine.
Level design for the game is good, with some having various obstacles or teleports you can use to your advantage. In the campaign you'll get a few sub objectives where you try to use things like mines or turrets to handle killing the zombies instead of doing it yourself. I never bothered with those because the fun of shooting the zombies was way more worth it.
I feel like I'm praddling on at this point. I really enjoyed Morbid Inhale. It's a great game. Tons of fun, plenty of replay value if you'd like too.

As a fan of shooters, I really enjoy this game. The gameplay is very entertaining and addictive. The beginning may be quite easy for experienced players. But the game quickly gathers pace making me want to keep on playing. I think it's a good sample of indie games. I would highly recommend the game to those who love old school shooters.
