What a lovely adventure game! A game inspired by Kiki's delivery service while still being so wholesome and so freaking cute. You play as Mika, who is ready to get her Witch training. She is a bit overconfident, and when she shows up at the Witch's house, she gets a rude awakening.
During the starting cutscene, your broom will break, and you need it repaired. You end up helping out the locals by delivering packages to and from them. However, delivering packages is a delicate thing ( I wish the real-life postal services would take that into account a bit more), so some packages have breakable things in them while others can't get wet, and a small amount of them are time-sensitive. You can see the package's status, and I highly recommend checking that before handing them over. If it got damaged in some way, you can delete it and try again. I highly recommend doing that if you want to unlock all the achievements, as this is one of the missable achievements.
What I find a very bold move that totally makes sense story-wise is that your first broom is hard to handle. It just doesn't work and feels janky. But this is on purpose. After just a few deliveries, you'll get an upgraded version, and another after more deliveries. The last broom will feel so good, but by getting a horrible broom at first, they really hammer home that feeling of how good the later brooms feel, not just faster but less janky as well.
The achievements in Mika and The Witch's Mountain are great. I wish there weren't missable achievements ( getting all green stamps + giving away your Witch items) but I can see story-related how it makes sense that way and not adding an option to change the outcome. All the other achievements are for exploring the island and doing all possible things. That just feels so great! It rewards you for exploring the world while also being able to tell you what you have missed when later on checking which achievements you're missing. The only achievement that was less clear to me is for the races. You not only need to finish them all but receive a gold cup in them as well.
I give Mika and The Witch's Mountain 4,5 out of 5 stars.

not a very long game but a sweet game takes a few hours, learning the best ways to get around is fairly fun. very light and stress free for a delivery game, well worth the kick stater backing cost and look forward to the what comes in the future.
hope you all enjoy!

I was initially very intrigued by this game because I am a huge Legend of Zelda fan (especially of Wind Waker, which this game reminds me of!), so I decided to give it a go, and I was not disappointed!
Normally I am someone who does not like to back track, and this game definitely does include back tracking, but it handles it in such a good way that I was barely even cognizant of the fact that I was having to back track quite a few times. I wish more games did this so back tracking wasn't a chore. There were plenty of things to do that the back tracking felt like a true exploration of the island itself.
The music was fantastically done and fits each area very well. Additionally, the Churro mini-game, in particular, added a bit of difficulty that I think balances very well with the fact that the deliveries themselves are not difficult to complete. The writing is definitely more on the "kiddie" side style of writing, but I will admit that some of the dialogue from characters definitely got me to laugh due to how real it was from such a character.
Also, as a side note, I am a huge fan of the achievement names! (I think my favorite was Leap of Faith or Cho, Co, Bo as a Final Fantasy fan). It is a good nod toward other well-known games/franchises.
Reading through other reviews, there were some that noted a crashing issue. I had no crashes the entire time I played. So if that is something that might be holding you back from getting this game, don't let it!
If you are a fan of cozy games or trying to find a game for a cozy game enjoyer, get this game!
If you are a fan of Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, get this game!
If you are looking for a low-stress game, get this game!
If you are just looking for a new game to play, get this game!

(I backed this on KS and got early access on the 16th)
First thing you need to know: it's short. The devs have promised content updates (I'll update the review once they drop), but expect to be done with the story in about 4 hours (6 hours if you're doing a completionist playthrough). Second thing you need to know: there are still bugs, but nothing game-breaking.
BUT: it's charming as all hell. The writing is cute (they're still doing typo corrections), the art is great, the music is lovely, and the gameplay is entirely based on exploration and collecting.
If you like games like A Short Hike, and if you like Kiki's Delivery Service, there's a really good chance you'll enjoy this.

This is a cute little game that reminds me of the movie Kiki's delivery service from studio Ghibli. I enjoyed flying around and trying to figure our the puzzle of how to get higher as more abilities unlock, and delivering packages was quite fun. The main problem is that it is quite short, I really wish the main storyline had was more fleshed out with a few more people to meet and make deliveries to. That said there are planned updates to add more content so I cant wait for that. This is definitely worth the price and you should check out the rest of the games from Chibig, after playing this game I started playing their older titles and I'm really enjoying those too.

I like this game, but honestly, it needs more time to cook. I like flying and making deliveries, that core gameplay is great. But the other stuff needs work, and I feel like the game will be a better value once it's out of Early Access and the additional side content is there.
Biggest pro: Flying the broom is fun. The mechanics on keeping deliveries safe and dry are well handled. It delivers on the promise of playing a game version of Kiki's Delivery Service.
Also I do like the story. It is cute and cozy like you'd expect. I like a lot of the townspeople.
Biggest con: The world feels flat outside of the main story. The island is small and you quickly see everything there is to see. NPCs only talk to you if you're delivering a package. If you run into one after finishing the game, they just stand there and a speech bubble that may or may not be relevant pops up. There's no feeling that they see you. Major NPCs just vanish after their part of the story is over without a feeling that they left the town or just aren't there at the moment.
Also, there's a lot of quality of life features missing. It would be great if I could put pins on the map. The music cuts in and out, and I had a major story moment after a cutscene unfold in dead silence. There are map boards in the world and they don't seem to do anything. Tutorials pop up and vanish. I had to watch an LP to find something out when the relevant tutorial happened half an hour before I needed the information.
While I like the story and the central gameplay, more than anything, this feels like an Assassin's Creed 1 where the thing that makes it special is there but needs either a more polished 1.0 release or a sequel that actually delivers a game that lives up to its promise. If ALL you want to do is deliver packages for a few hours, by all means play it. I'm giving it a thumbs up because it does deliver (haha) on that. But if you want something more from it, a deeper experience or a livelier, more reactive world, this one will leave you disappointed.

Adventure game, exploratory, female protagonist, delivery management, open world, early access.
PLOT
Mika is a little aspiring witch, she would like to be trained by Olagari, a veteran in this profession.
But alas! Unfortunately she is not well received, this grumpy teacher mistakes her desire to learn for arroranga,
and decides to immediately start with a severe lesson: he throws her down the mountain with his broom, and tells her to come back
when he will be able to fly well and climb to the top of the mountain.
Blind and with a broken broom, what can Mika do now?
He decides not to give up, a good idea is to look for work to earn money and get a super broom that everyone will envy!
And so she began her career as a parcel delivery service, which would take her to explore the whole island and see wonderful views
from above and get to know different inhabitants who will help her, while she will make beautiful friends.
PLAYABILITY
Our task is to deliver packages to various inhabitants of the island, but it will not be an easy task, we must pay attention
not to get wet, avoid hitting the packages while flying, otherwise the contents will be damaged.
This is very important because our customers will evaluate our work positively or negatively.
Of course we don't have to waste time because deliveries also have a limited time.
If your delivery ends badly, there is no problem, you can collect the package again and make the journey again.
There is no shortage of collectibles scattered throughout the island, explore carefully everywhere because some are hidden.
In addition to work we can accept quests as a diversion, we will offer our help to the inhabitants.
The work will also be rewarded with different clothes and uniforms to change the look of the protagonist.
The graphics are very beautiful in cartoon style and rich in colors, the soundtrack is suitable for the game.
I recommend it, it's a nice story and the protagonist is nice, the only problem is that it's not easy to fly because you can move around
left and right, but don't go up, to go up you have to use the air currents to get push or get up high;
you have to evaluate the route carefully, understand which currents to use to get to the destination and do it without ending up bumping into obstacles that
they ruin the packages.
