It is the year 2034. Beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside – and within. Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above.
But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for the ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6. A civil war is stirring that could wipe humanity from the face of the earth forever. As Artyom, burdened by guilt but driven by hope, you hold the key to our survival – the last light in our darkest hour…

200 character summary
Metro Last Light is a linear story driven horror survival FPS with multiple endings, It has great graphics and some very tense gameplay, Customize your weapons and save the Metro from itself.
Story & Characters 9/10
The Story follows the adventures of Metro 2033, It is also based on a novel with the same name, People are still in the metro because of the invisible threat above ground. You play as the same protagonist from 2033, Artyom, Not much has changed, except for the shift of focus of enemies. I feel the mutants are less considered threats here, Surely you still need to kill them if they attack you, But in the last game they felt like the enemy, And here I feel other humans are the real enemy. The game like 2033 has multiple endings, So maybe that was just the impression the game gave me by the choices I made.
In the last game I did not feel any of the characters stood out or where particularly memorable but I do feel they improved on the NPC characters this time, there was more bonding and faces started to get familiar. Saying I care about their wellbeing is a bit over an overstatement, But it surely improved a lot and I was curious towards them to say the least. The rest of the game felt really similar to the last installment, But that is not a bad thing.
Gamemodes & Gameplay 8/10
There is no multiplayer at all, It is all single player, Mainly the story mode, There are some extra missions which are pretty cool, Chapter select is still there But you can not go back trough normal progress, It is a very linear game, You are rewarded for exploring but any door could close shut behind you. Your choices do matter and in my experience it is rather hard getting the good ending.
Like the previous game you can choose between Survival or Spartan for your run, Spartan is more head on with easier enemies and more ammo while Survival is a more sneaky way of playing where it is better to evade enemies. Then there is Ranger mode which makes the game a lot more realistic in terms of difficulity, 2 bullets will be the end, But enemies go down a lot easier too, If you really want a Survival experience I would recommend going with that. I played the game on Survival, But I went trough it as a Spartan, and I had tons of ammo to spare mostly.
The main story is a shooter with a very tense Horror like atmosphere, There are some parts you have to follow people around or stuff like that, but it did not feel like a chore at any point. There are also a lot of different "New Missions" these are like extra missions you can play and some are pretty cool, There are sniper missions but also wave missions, all kinds of cool stuff that you will enjoy if you like FPS games.
Graphics & Soundtrack 9/10
Like Metro 2033 The game looks beautiful, surely it is all Dark and Grimey, But it creates an incredibly tense atmosphere, The sounds really enhance this feeling. The pre rendered movies look horrible, They have very bad graphics and play in 30fps. It is like it was pre rendered using a microwave. Next to that everything looks great, especially considering the age of the game. I also love the design for some of the weapons, Like the Shotgun Revolver, Who thinks of insane weapons like that.
Performance & Support 7/10
The game runs really well, absolutely no crashes, glitches or bad behavior like that. Like Metro 2033 It does have some issues with Vsync, It works, but not always, Other times you can't turn it off, It is a bit strange, But it is not a huge issue, It also has bad mapping with the default kernel driver using an Xbox One controller, It works fine with Xpadneo, so if you play with a controller, use xpadneo.
Endgame & Replayability 8/10
I am a little dissapointed with the endgame, Like Metro 2033, The game is extremely linear, It is very easy to miss things. There is a chapter select, But it will overwrite your last savegame and you can not go back and clean up the achievements. The replayability is okay, Since it has multiple endings and multiple ways to play. There are also a lot of achievements that are easily missable, If you want to perfect the game it will certainly take you a while.
Conclusion 8/10
Overall, The game is very similar to Metro 2033, At least I see very few differences between the 2 Redux versions, So this review might sound very similar to the review of 2033. Just like that game it surely is a great game worth picking up, And a must have if you like anything related to FPS or Horror. It is a short but thrilling ride a very linear ride but how you ride it is completely up to you, Kill or Sneak. Good or Bad.

I received Metro 2033 Redux for free on Epic Games and it was absolutely amazing, it prompted me to buy Last Light Redux and Exodus on Steam. After beating the games I was still hungry for more Russian post-apocalyptic action which led me to read Dmitry Glukhovsky’s metro trilogy of books that the games are based on. I absolutely recommend playing Metro: Last Light Redux, it has become part of my all time favourite trilogy of games.

Amazing game for the price. The graphics are outstanding and the story is even better.
Pick this up if it's on sale, after you've played 2033.

Metro: Last Light Redux

Game length10 - 12 hours

Based on"Metro series"
- Metro Last Light. The sequel to the game Metro 2033 which was based off the same book by Dmitry Glukhovsky, Last Light takes a bit of an unexpected turn. Instead of following the plot of the book the first one was based on's sequel, Metro 2034, the developers with assistance of the author came up with their own plot for this game, due to the fact that Metro 2034 is apparently not very gameworthy. Like 2033, it was rereleased for the new gen consoles as well as PC, providing new graphics and some other minor tweaked things.
Story/Atmosphere
You once again play as Artyom, who, since the last game, has become a Ranger. He is sent out one day to investigate the ruins of the Dark One's former home, where there are reports of a young Dark One still living there. While there, Artyom is captured by the Nazi faction and escapes with his new ally Pavel, a Red soldier who says he will help Artyom get to a neutral station and get him to the Dark One. Things end up not going as planned, but I won't get into that because spoilers. The story goes a bunch of different directions, all of which keep you interested in going on with it. It's a pretty good story, a lot better than 2033, which is saying a lot. The endings are the same basic idea; you get or lose morality points throughout the game, which will affect which ending you get depending on how many you have. I've seen both, and it's worth going for the morally good ending since the bad one... it's kind of depressing. xD They also go into the history of the Metro and add some neat lore into there, which is pretty neat. Overall the story is excellent.
Gameplay
The game is very similar to Metro 2033, which is not a bad thing at all since it is good. Gunplay is good, and they have some more gunfights, which can get really tense. There was one battle where I had fought against this boss animal and when the battle was over I was out of normal ammo and had to resort to using military grade rounds, which are more damage efficient but they're better used to save up and buy ammo and guns. Stealth gameplay is pretty good as well and it's a good alternate to going in guns blazing when you can do it, though it does show that the AI is a bit... lacking. It is a bit better than the original version, but I still get some moments that I scratch my head and wonder, "How the heck did he not see me?" The surface levels from 2033 make a return, where you have to use a gas mask and air filters to be able to stay up there for longer than a minute without suffocating. They're fun like last time and are a nice change from the narrow metro tunnels. Overall the gameplay is fun.
Graphics & Performance
The game looks pretty dang good. The metro tunnels look gritty and the outside environments are breathtaking to look out. The game played well on my rig, though it had some lower FPS on the later levels, though I think it was more because of my crappy rig and if you have a good system you shouldn't have any problems.
- I think one of the reasons M:LL is so amazingly immersive and delivers such a fantastic atmosphere is largely due to the lighting. It's flat out gorgeous. The lightbeams from friendly and hostile npcs and mounted lights, combined with the fantastic fog/smoke effects makes for an impressive sight. Especially when you take into account the moisture on your gas mask, the ambient lighting and the flares.
Characters & Voice acting
The voice acting quality from the last game carries over to this one. There are mostly Russian accents in the game, though some German ones for some members of the Nazi factions, and I think the only way you can make it feel more authentic is if you had them only speak Russian, which you can actually set up in the options with subtitles of whatever language you ne
ed, but I'm fine with the English dubbing, thank you very much. :P Artyom still doesn't speak outside of the game, which is pretty awkward and interesting in same time. A lot of characters from the last game, like Khan and Miller, are in here as well and do some neat stuff. There's also a female sniper named Anna who you, kind of randomely the more I think of it, start a romantic relationship with. They're all fine though characterwise, so I won't be mad for that.

Conclusion
- Metro Last Light is certainly worth a look if you like first person shooters, apocalyptic, adventure and creepy games. It provides a strong story line directly connected to 2033, a wonderful atmosphere to experience, smooth controls, stunning visual graphics and sounds. This was my second favorite game that came out in 2013 (my number one being GTA5 for all those who were curious), it's a really good game and you should check it out sometime soon as well as 2033. Both are pretty good.

I purchased Metro Last Light and Metro 2033 to get the back story for the Metro games and to see if it would be worth my time to buy exodus. I jumped into Metro Last Light right after i finished Metro 2033 and enjoyed both games completely. It is cool to see the story from 2033 link up with the story of Last Light (assuming you had the "bad" ending from 2033). Not a super long game but worth playing. i think ill buy Exodus now.
