Came to this game thinking I’d build a small shack and live out my peasant dreams in peace. Next thing I know, I’ve got a wife, two kids, three debt collectors, and a villager named Bogdan who won’t stop talking about cabbage.
Built my first house backwards. Hunted a deer with a stick. Got mauled by a boar while trying to pick berries. Froze to death in spring because I forgot clothes were a thing. Truly immersive.
Somehow convinced a random woman to marry me after gifting her a locket I stole from the tax collector. Romance is alive in the medieval age.
Now I’m a lord of a tiny village where half the people do nothing, and the other half pretend to do something. I spend 80% of my time micromanaging their lazy butts and the other 20% wondering why everyone suddenly hates me because I didn’t build a tavern fast enough.
But listen... when you finally finish your first house, see your villagers eating soup by the fire, and hear the wolves circling just outside the range of your torch... you know you're home.
Buy it. Play it. Become the potato king!

Great game, truly addictive. After 100+ hours you still feel as though there is a plethora of things to do and learn (both in-game character and yourself).
Looking forward to the addition of a future bandit revamp. As it stands, there are bandit camps; you have a massive arsenal of weaponry with which to deal with them, ranging from swords and shields to throwing rocks and crossbows. Armours to protect yourself. Yet currently they are quite obsolete as any gamer worth their salt can tackle a huge camp with just a bow and stone arrows (or kite bandits with just a stone axe).
My biggest gripe with the game is the memes/pop-culture references.
Absolutely hilarious for the first 5 minutes, but then becomes extremely tiresome and you find yourself rolling your eyes and feeling a little dizzy, every time you approach a villager, from the constant 360's your eyes are doing.
A lot of people talk about how the game should be played as an immersive sim, yet these in-game memes do their best to pull you out of that immersion; with the developers pointing a finger at their own game while exclaiming "HAHA look at that reference, do you get it? DO YOU GET IT!?"
Little kids walking around saying "ka-me-ha-me-ha" (voiced as Goku would say it)
May the forge be with you - Star Wars
I hate grain, it's course and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere - Star Wars
Winter is coming - Game of Thrones
No one can destroy the Metal. The Metal will strike you down with a vicious blow - Tenacious D
Get to the copper - Predator
Gotta catch 'em all - Pokemon
I once heard a man say "winds howling" even though it was nothing but a gentle breeze - The Witcher
To infinity and beyond - Toy Story
I love you 3000 - The Avengers
Me think, why waste time say lot word when few word do trick - The Office
I had a dream in which we were all had green diamonds over our heads and talking gibberish - The Sims
I met a guy called Sparrow. Sorry, Captain Sparrow. And I think he stole my money. - Pirates of the Carribean
Alright then keep your secrets - The Lord of the Rings
I'm just scratching the surface, here. Trust me there are many many more and you will hear them over and over again. Very rarely do villagers talk about normal things, like the Weather or crops or any other day-to-day activities. EVERYTHING is a meme or a pop-culture reference or a tongue-in-cheek jab at the game's development or even Steam itself "I don't care if you bought it within 2 hours. No refunds!"
To repeat myself. It's funny at first, but gets tiring very quickly; especially after playing 100+ hours.
I feel as though the development team hired that guy from the Key and Peele sketch, where they are brainstorming ideas for Gremlins 2, "you want 20 Witcher references in our game!? Your crazy and I love it, it's in!"
I'm fun at parties and I recommend this game

Erecting a Dynasty is Hard Work
Came for the survival, stayed for the procreation.
For the first 20 hours, I was just a lonely guy beating my wood in the forest Then the game told me the main quest was to find a wife and produce an heir.
Suddenly the real grind began. Turns out you can't just walk up to a medieval 10/10 and show her your massive.. pile of logs. You have to sweet talk her and pretend you don't smell like a fermented bog monster.
Finally got her back to my one room shack The game's objective popped up Ensure the continuation of your dynasty.
Let's just say my dynasty was thoroughly ensured that night.
10/10. The ultimate build a house to get laid simulator.

Comfy log chopping / wife finding simulator.
>start my village - chop logs all spring
>get first 2 citizens (man and woman)
>flirt with the women for 2 season
>tryna wife her up.. go into town for a gift to give her
>when i come back she married the other dude :(
>start chopping logs all winter, build more houses
>invite every single woman from a nearby gypsy camp to live with me
>they are ungreatful and ruin my life and wont talk to me because I'm too stinky
10/10

Medieval Dynasty has claimed a top spot in my forever favourite games.
Everything about this screams that the devs want us to have fun - from perfectly paced build progression to narrative quests to quality of life mechanics that I now can't live without.
Everytime I thought "Oh it'd be super fun if X,Y,Z", MD had already thought of that and was lined up to give it to me. When I became super attached to my little town, having watched it evolve over a hundred hours of gameplay, I thought "it'd be nice to get a little map tag for it!" and bam - MD already had something in place for me.
Bandit camps evolve, narrative quests add and remove characters and unique dialogue, building works intuitively and is super satisfying and peaceful, and the villager management is so easy even I could work it out.
This game wants you to have fun and grants you the tools to do so. At one hundred hours in, I was drunk and punching on with a badger to unlock a new town crest and just thought. "This is awesome." There are a ton of specific things I could point at that make MD a wonderful way to spend your time - the fact that dying has no real consequence, the tavern automatically attracting the band once you build it so you can party on in your own township, the dialogue of your villagers changing depending on your standing with the king/if you're overencumbered/if you're dressed nicely, the kids sounding like actual cute little kids (I would die for my child and he WILL outrun his own shadow one day), the NPCs having different personality types and preferring different kinds of gifts but the description of the gift doesn't outright say what personality suits it and you have to infer from critical reading who enjoys what (using my brain! My big brain to work out a game mechanic!), SHARED STORAGE. Oh my gosh. Shared storage, my beloved, how did I ever live without you and how will I ever again? Chuck a log into a storage barn on the other side of town? Congrats, it's in your pocket and you can use it wherever, within a certain radius. Oh, but that radius can be expanded with another storage barn? Fantastic. No more over-encumbered walk trying to get to your build site, no more opening a dozen chests looking for sticks (I cannot stress enough how much I love that I don't have to go hunting for a specific resource).
Add to that the obvious love the devs have for the game and their players - the Nature DLC giving us the option to beautify our towns with hedges and bushes and trees (our designated Beautification Council (my fiance) had a great time giving our village, Eagle's Rest, a glow up). The 5th year anniversary event that planted gift baskets all over the Oxbow actually had us racing from location to location to try and find them - those boxes could've been empty, and we still would've been frothing at the bit to get to them because it was just FUN.
Nothing like spying that red slip of silk and hollering "GEEFT BASKIT!" into the Discord group call.
If you are on the fence about this game, don't be. Buy it. Play it. Make it your own. Enjoy the passion that went into this game because it honestly brings about 90s and 00s vibes where devs made games they wanted to play. Medieval Dynasty is fun and brilliant and intuitive, and I will forever buy any and all DLC they release. Thank you for this game!

I haven't played any of the latest updates, but this game is really, really good. The concept of having a child and continuing your legacy is genius. The only thing I wish is that you could build your own houses instead of relying on pre-made ones you plop down. Other than that, it's a great game!
