Maiden & Spell is a one-on-one magical girl aerial projectile battler, featuring a colorful cast of ladies fighting with fantastic spells.
Battling with magic is simple! Fire your spells, hit your opponent, and don’t get hit yourself! Each maiden is color-coded and has a set of abilities unique to them, activated at a press of a button. There aren’t any complicated combos or intricate inputs or grabs or melee attacks or block buttons! Just a 3-pixels-wide hitbox, a lot of shiny bullets, and your own dodging skills.
You can fight against a friend in Versus Mode, or test your skill against a series of opponents and bullet hell boss attacks in Story Mode.
An abyss on the edge of the map, said to be the most dangerous dungeon in the world… The Great Circle. A group of young adventurers travel down into its depths in search of a powerful treasure.
Awaiting them are cute monsters, nonsensical architecture, and an ancient city once known as The Kingdom of Stars….

Worth every damn penny. This is a beautiful and amazing bullet hell game. The interface is well made, the attacks are easy to distinguish, and the story itself seems interesting so far. For those who played touhou, there's a lot of similarities with it, but it also has it's defining features that sets it quite apart other bullet hell games.
First off, you can either play against AI or against players. You will each control a character who has different attacks and moves, and you will aim at hitting the enemy before they hit you. It's sort of a mirror boss-fight game?
The story mode adds to the gameplay some sequences everytimes you should remove a "life" to the enemy (after every 3 hits on them). When it occurs, the enemy boss will enter a phase with new attack patterns and will basically fill your screen with attacks. Playing with each characters changes the order and the difficulty of each of these battles, so clearing the game with each character is a different experience.
I really love how this game plays, and the only time I went to try online playing, I was happily surprised of finding players online, so the game is alive. The online experience is really nice, and each character having a VERY different feel, you won't get tired of this game quickly.
Only somewhat interesting point? The difficulty curve is pretty steep. When playing the 2nd character in story mode, while the first boss is somewhat easy to beat and will only "lightly" fill your screen with attacks, the 3rd one can basically oneshot you through a map wide attack if you aren't fast enough to beat her. Interesting and fun as hell though in my opinion.
TL;DR : If you like bullet hell or would like to try the genre, this game is an absolute gem.
