Become Mad Max, the lone warrior in a savage post-apocalyptic world where cars are the key to survival. In this action-packed, open world, third person action game, you must fight to stay alive in The Wasteland, using brutal on-ground and vehicular combat against vicious gangs of bandits. A reluctant hero with an instinct for survival, Max wants nothing more than to leave the madness behind and find solace in the storied “Plains of Silence.”

Repetitive But Fun
The first thing you’ll notice is how good the game looks. The vast desert landscapes and dynamic weather are beautifully rendered, making the wasteland feel alive in its own desolate way. The car combat is where the game truly shines. The vehicle physics are spot-on, giving you that satisfying crunch when you slam into an enemy vehicle. Customizing and upgrading your Magnum Opus is fun, and every battle on the road feels satisfying.
On foot, the combat is just as engaging. It’s got a solid, satisfying feel to it, with fluid animations and brutal takedowns. Whether you’re fighting hand-to-hand or taking on foes with your car, the game feels great to play, thanks to its tight controls and impactful sound design.
That said, Mad Max isn’t without its flaws. The game design and mission designs are extremely repetitive. You’ll find yourself doing the same kinds of missions over and over again, and the world can feel a bit empty at times. The story doesn’t do much to elevate the experience, either. It’s there, but it’s not particularly memorable or engaging.
Despite the repetition in game and map design, I still found myself enjoying Mad Max. The graphics are impressive, the game feels very good to play, and the sound design really pulls you into the action. If you’re a fan of the Mad Max universe or just love intense vehicular combat, it’s a game worth experiencing, even if it's not the best game out there.

Very underrated game that deserves much more.
This game was released on a very bad timing, so many great games came out in 2015 and Mad Max didn't get enough attention.
Pros:
Great post-apocalyptic atmosphere/style and graphics with attention to details
Open world with big map and plenty of side quests
Point system for progression (both for Max and his car)
Cool gameplay features for car combat
Great music and sounds especially in intense moments
Objects destructibility
Cons:
Weak storyline but all characters have their background explained
Driving (sometimes driving is very messy and annoying)
Bosses are too easy (maybe I just overleveled while clearing areas)
No online. Thanks to WB's pushed feature - WBplay. It's dead lol
Definitely worth playing if you haven't already. Don't forget to use photo mode while playing for some cool wallpapers.
This game is very beautiful. Modern games have a lot to learn from this game but Mad Max is a history at this point. No updates, no care from the devs. There most likely won’t be another mad max game like this. No sequels or smth but this makes me appreciate it even more. Also devs missed out on a great potential for online (Crossout tried to do something Mad Max related but online).

This game is SUPER underrated. Highly recommend if you enjoy rust, dust, and guts. Driving is cool. Killing people while driving is cool. Hand-to-hand combat feels super weighty and satisfying. Racks of content to discover as you drive around the wasteland.

Don't be fooled by the fact that this is an "old" game! It's still a really good game! If you enjoyed the movie Mad Mac: Fury Road and you like cars, you'll enjoy this game. The plot is a little silly. Max got his car taken away from him, and gets a replacement car. But it doesn't have a V8 engine which Max wants. Apparently the only place where you can source a V8 engine is in Gastown, which is the homebase for the Scrotus faction, and Max will stop at nothing to get his beloved V8 engine. In other games, the goal is something like defeat the main enemy that has been harassing you your whole life, or to take down some evil superpower, or reunite with your family. In this game it is to get a V8 engine.
The game world takes place in a wasteland where somehow the entire ocean has disappeared, and everyone are killing each other for their own survival. You'll often find yourself chased by idiots who wants to kill you (a bit like a typical GTA Online session except without the flying bikes). Taking down scarecrows and destroying oil camps will lower the threat level in the area, which will reduce the amount of enemies spawning. It will also unlock upgrades for your character and your car.
In various locations you'll find history relics. These are pictures and letters from the modern age before or during the downfall of modern society. These history relics gives you an glimpse into what modern life once looked like.
Upgrades for your car and character can be "built" with something called "scrap" which you collect everywhere. However, you don't need special parts to give your car that upgrade. Everything you collect (head gaskets, mufflers, random metal pieces) equally counts as "scrap" that you can use to install parts like better air intakes, nitrous etc. So "scrap" feels more like a currency than a construction material. The upgrade system is very simplified. There's no mention of how many horsepowers you get at x amount of RPM. It's more "This part increases the acceleration by 30%". There are no automotive technical terms other than in the ramblings from Chumbucket.
Half of the wasteland (the ocean floor) is open to explore from the start, while the other half (the land) will be accessible when you have enough upgrades to take down the gate blocking the only path between the two areas. If you try to leave the game world, a strong storm will spawn which will kill you. From most parts of the map, you'll see a lunch of smoke stacks in the distance, spewing out flames and thick black smoke. That's Gastown, serving a nice reminder of where you'll eventually go. You'll see stacks of smoke everywhere, suggesting that in the post-apocalyptic future, no one really cares about climate change or CO2 emissions. You aren't going to find any electric cars around the wasteland.
The vehicle combat is great, with the option to ram enemy vehicles or pull parts of with your harpoon, including their wheels to effectively immobilize the vehicle. The ground combat is rewarding too, as when you're attacking enemies you feel like you're actually doing something. If you're fighting a group of enemies, only 1-2 will attack you at the same time so you don't get overwhelmed.
However, sometimes the combat is a pain in the ass. In groups witn two or more strong enemies, one enemy will charge at you, making your character immobilized for a while, and before your character has recovered, the second enemy will charge at you. Such an even drains a lot of precous health. Also, while it can potentially be stratigically advantageous to shoot and kill the war crier, using the shotgun will take precous time leaving you exposed to the enemies. More often than not, you'll be forced to fight through the buffed enemies.
Speaking of enemies, some of them acts like they think they're wolves or chimpanzees or something. In the wasteland it's noticable that all the mental hospitals has been destroyed. Those enemies could really use some time there. Actually most characters in the game could use some time there, but the Buzzard enemies are the worst.
Some of the top dogs may also be confusing to fight. These has a lot of health, and right after they have striked they leave a few seconds of window open for you to strike them, like an enemy boss in most games. However, once you have reduced the top dogs health to 0, continuing with your usual attack move doesn't kill him or drain his health further (since it's already at 0). Instead, When the top dogs health has reached 0, that will unlock a different move that you'll have to perform by pressing a certain button at the exact time (shown on screen), which will play an animation where your character will deliver the final move to the enemy. In other words the game devs made the enemy unkillable by your regular move because they want you to see some special animation to finish him.
As part of the story mission you'll be doing missions for small faction leaders. It can be to help someone rebuild part of the fortress. One of them for example lives in a ship where the front fell off, and you have to help him gather materials to rebuild his ship to be stronger so the front doesn't fall off. Another mission can be to help some lady in a wheelchair get some sail so she can build some kind of sail powered wagon. Also, this lady in a wheelchair lives in a fortress with lots of floors that can only be accessed by stairs. Did no one in the dev team think about wheelchair accessability and desighned her fortress accordingly?
Even though this is a PC game, it can also be played with a PS or Xbox controller if you prefer to play that way. Just plug it in and go ahead. Being a 2015 game, it's from a different era than we're in now. There's no microtransactions or pay2win or constant online requirement. It's not like some other driving game that's made entirely unplayable because the servers shut down. The game is entirely singleplayer. It had some online features in the past, but these features aren't available anymore as the servers has probably shut down a long time ago. However, the lack of these online features aren't really noticeable. The game is still perfectly playable and enjoyable.
I can definitely recommend this game for anyone who's into cars and action and post-apocalyptic wasteland.

A very decent open world game. After now almost 10 years the game holds up pretty well. In my opinion an underrated gem. Now what does that mean you might ask, is it so amazing that it deserves a 10/10? Not really, it's not that amazing but honestly I would recommend any gamer to try it. The great thing about is you can finish it quick or you can try to spend 80+ hours like I did getting all collectibles and everything on a 100%. If you are someone who likes doing that you will love the game, however even if you aren't it's still a decent game and then you could just stick to the missions. The story is great, keeps you driven most of the time (not gonna spoil anything don't worry) and it's good enough to make you finish the game. Gameplay is also very good, fighting is enjoyable and keeps you on the edge, especially if you go into big areas when you're not "leveled" yet. Overall I would give it a solid 8/10. I think everyone should give this game a chance.

9/10 - An absolute recommendation for fans of the films, post-apocalyptic or open worlds. It captures the atmosphere of the movies very well, has beautiful landscapes and it's really fun to wreck enemy vehicles on the roads.
