It's fun but frustrating. I love the retro graphics and dungeon crawling but scrolling through your inventory one item at a time is clunky and the randomization can absolutely end your run prematurely. There's definitely better rogulites but I can't say I don't enjoy it and I could see myself easily playing this for hours in coop. The fact it's so simple and easy to pick up is also a plus in my opinion

Great couch co-op dungeon crawler. Above this review is a video featuring some people partying that captures very little of my experience with Legend of Dungeon. The gameplay trailer, on the other hand, is very accurate.
You (and perhaps some friends) wake up in a tavern and go into the door that leads to a randomized dungeon. There, you will encounter procedural generation that offers up the most absurd configurations of enemies, items, and rooms. It's difficult. The 2D sprites in a 3D room can lead to occasional frustration when lining up an attack or going after an item. There's not a lot of explanation, so going in blind is fun but will very much extend your playtime through trial-and-error deaths.
That being said, it's a competent dungeon crawler I have not beaten. The slow pace adds tension and strategy, the items are humorous and useful, there is a real skill cap, and I've definitely sucked more $10 worth of fun out of it.

This game has been a perpetual install on every computer I've ever owned since I bought it over a decade ago. I've never gotten anywhere close to beating it. It's charming, obnoxious, compelling, and rage-inducing all at the same time. Pretty much everything in LoD is randomly generated, so don't expect an easy time -- you either get lucky or you get squashed. Pickup items are all random, enemies (except for some end-level baddies) are random, dungeon setup and itemization are random.
The anxiety of not knowing what's behind the next dungeon door, stairway, tunnel or secret entrance is what makes LoD great. Will you finally bag the lich and be rewarded with a hat that lets you summon a floating cat with laser beam eyes? Or maybe you'll pick up some random potion only to find out that drinking it gives you the rainbow pukes? There's enough weird stuff to encounter and collect that makes the anxiety worth advancing, despite the fact that you'll most likely get torn apart in the next room.
Anyway, Legend of Dungeon has hats, cats, throwing stars, grenades, spellbooks, flamethrowers, cursed swords, booze, laser guns, and around a million ways to die. It's fun.

Legend of Dungeon represents digital entertainment's fundamental deception—repackaging familiar mechanics as novel experiences while exploiting psychological reward systems through randomized drops and collectibles. You'll willingly submit to its frustration loop because the alternative is confronting the absence of meaning in both the game and beyond it.

Really fun pixel dungeon with simple controls. The game is different every time, so you never know what to expect on each floor!

Legend of Dungeon is an enjoyable break from reality. It shows some age, but overall it can be an enjoyable time. While there are games that feel more rewarding this can be a nice palate cleanser before your next dive into a new experience.

This game is a timelessly awesome recreation of the old school NetHack/Rogue game. If you NEED to play those in a terminal then go for it but as for me and my 3 friends, we come to the dungeon.
Animal sacrifices will continue until a sequel is realized.
