A game by our friends!
the GameLaysara: Summit Kingdom is a challenging city builder which tasks you with creating a new home for your people forced out of the lowlands. During a campaign or sandbox playthrough, you will establish multiple towns, each on a unique mountain with its own traits. All your towns co-exist in symbiosis, creating a trading network, which you can then adjust to your needs by revisiting already developed settlements. The Kingdom of Laysara has to be rebuilt!
BUILD ON A MOUNTAIN
Each mountain comes with a new set of challenges. Mounts differ in shapes, vegetation zone layouts, resource availability and weather conditions. Sometimes you will have plenty of room for farming in green lowlands, sometimes you will need to rely on breeding and extracting valuable minerals from regions dangerously close to peak glaciers. If you find yourself in dire need of a certain resource, you can always try to establish a trading route with another town.
DEAL WITH AVALANCHES
One of the ever-present dangers you will have to deal with are mighty avalanches. You can’t stop them, but you can take precautions and be prepared. Afforest the key areas to create natural barriers, build artificial ones to redirect rushing masses of snow, or trigger the avalanche early, while it’s still manageable. Create a deliberate and reliable strategy and you might even be able to use the power of snow to your advantage; fail to do so and find your city buried and devastated!
CRAFT A TRANSPORT NETWORK
So, transporting goods is easy, right? Well, not if your destination lies on the other side of the mountain, a few hundred meters higher, behind cliffs, ridges, canyons and rivers. You will need to create a vast, complex transport network consisting of roads, bridges and shafts to ensure reliable delivery chains. As demand for resources will grow alongside the town’s population, always look for opportunities to optimise your transportation network, be it by building paved roads, using more advanced lifting constructions, or aiding your carriers with glamorous yaks.
RAISE A SUMMIT TEMPLE
If you manage to endure all mountain dangers, build a network of efficient production chains and satisfy all needs of your people, there is only one more thing to be done: conquering the mountain peak! To succeed in this great endeavour you’ll need to reach the summit and establish safe routes for your carriers to bring in enormous amounts of building resources, but beware! Weather at this height is as deadly as ever. The final effect is well worth the effort though, as raising the summit temple is an act of total triumph of human courage (and your logistics skills!) over the elements.
Final note: the game is a pure city building experience solely focused on the economy, resource management and surviving despite the inhospitable environment. Therefore, the game doesn’t feature combat or any other military aspect.

NOTE GLOBALE ❤️❤️❤️❤️🤍

A beautiful, sunny, snowy, mountainy city builder, very chill and yet very fun to play. Placement and puzzle is all, but in the end there many parameters to take into account, and a lot of buildings and resources to manange.
The aesthetics and music really gave me a classic SimCity feeling. Love it.
IDoesn't really feel like early access, haven't found any bugs, maybe you''ll find some ui infos are missing when you progress through the game but that is all.

Laysara is a unique city builder shaped by the vision of developers who are clearly passionate about what they do. It doesn’t seem to draw inspiration from any other game, standing out as remarkably original. This is a breath of fresh air for city builder fans who feel they've seen it all in this genre.
Gameplay:
At first glance, one might compare it to the Anno series due to the progressive accumulation of resident needs as their houses are upgraded and the presence of multiple social classes. However, in Laysara, these needs can actually be met in various ways, unlike the more linear approach in Anno. Simplified, your inhabitants seek access to diverse sources of food, crafted goods ("prosperity"), and spiritual services ("illumination"). Each social class has preferences (for instance, workers prefer access to a wide variety of food) but will accept other improvements to their lifestyle. It just won’t be as efficient if you fail to prioritize their preferences. For me, this is where the game becomes truly engaging :
This is a city builder heavily focused on optimization. Your mountain offers limited space, some of which is threatened by avalanches. You don’t want to waste available land producing unnecessary resources. Nor do you want to transport resources too far, as this requires a larger portion of your population to act as carriers (the further the distance, the more carriers needed). As a result, you’ll often need to relocate parts of your city as needs evolve and new technologies and resources are available, seeking every possible optimization to save space. The developers have thoughtfully integrated this aspect, as rearranging your city is straightforward. However, this is also the game's most complex feature, making it quite challenging at higher difficulty levels where poor optimization can quickly block your progress.
The difficulty (I only play on Veteran because I enjoy a challenge) feels well-balanced. I was a bit surprised by how quickly the danger from avalanches escalates by level 3 (it’s painful when an avalanche buries the monastery and causes a research drop, even with a forest and a wall to counter it. I haven’t yet played enough to fully manage this issue; maybe a second wall is needed for larger avalanches?)
Graphics and Sound:
The art direction is top-notch, and the game’s assets are stunning, immersing you in a colorful and majestic world. Even the most optimized villages look charming, with all the little bridges, shrines, plazas, and decorations. The artwork is very cohesive, making it incredibly satisfying to observe. Each caste's preferences and the properties of each altitude level lead to your mountain evolving in an interesting and eclectic way over time.
The music fits perfectly with the game’s atmosphere. While there aren’t many tracks, their quality outweighs their quantity. Still, one or two additional tracks would be welcome, or perhaps some moments without music to emphasize the ambient sounds of the weather.
Drawbacks:
For me, the game’s only downside is its pacing. Since you only need money to build, and resources are treated as flows that cannot be stockpiled, any interruption in supply leads to immediate dissatisfaction, which is costly. But because building often involves rearranging many structures, causing temporary disruption until everything is operational again, you’ll find yourself pausing frequently to avoid a deficit. In my 5 hours of playtime so far, I’ve probably spent around 4 hours with the game paused, only resuming once my income was optimized. Then, as soon as the treasury was full, back to pause mode to make improvements. With game-over looming if you run out of money entirely, it feels necessary to overuse the pause function to ensure stability. However, this slightly breaks the game’s flow. I think it should be possible to accumulate small emergency reserves of each resource at markets based on surplus production to delay supply interruptions and smooth out gameplay.
Conclusion:
For me, Laysara is the best city builder discovery since Frostpunk. The developers took a risk by creating something original, and it works brilliantly, with fun mechanics and a great sense of humor, delivering a genuinely enjoyable and relaxing experience, all without any bugs (in my experience). While it might not appeal to everyone (it’s more of a peaceful, optimization-focused game than a high-paced, complex management one), it’s still a lot deeper than a simple puzzle builder. You’ll need a fair bit of strategy to grow your population while optimizing logistics and dealing with avalanches.
I feel I’ll get great value from this game, as fully completing a map takes quite a bit of time (I haven’t finished the first map after the tutorial in 5 hours). The replayability also seems excellent, as the game is highly non-linear, and each map (from what I’ve briefly tested) presents very different challenges. I’m genuinely excited to see the story mode and whatever else the developers add to the game :)
