This visual novel by InterOne Inc. and Dogenzaka Lab features a male protagonist John Smith(name can be changed) on a trip to Kyoto in modern day Japan. John had been switching jobs without settling into one, leading to his mother advising him to travel to Kyoto, see more of the world and decide what he wants for himself as an adult.
At Kyoto, John will be received by his grandfather's good friend Kenichiro Sakurai who is the manager of an inn Ukiyoen. Kenichiro will provide him with accomodation and an open offer to consider working at the inn if he would like to learn something during his trip to Kyoto.
John will also meet and get to know Akane Wakamiya, a waitress and errand girl working at a restaurant Asahiya owned by her father Daigo Wakamiya and Madoka Watanabe, a girl who recently moved to Kyoto and happened to pick up and return a wallet John dropped. While looking for a job, John will receive invitations from Akane and Madoka to go sightseeing together in Kyoto.
After spending a few hours to read and listen through both Akane and Madoka's routes and reach their good endings, I decided to give this game a score of 9/10 on the following factors:
Plot and character backgrounds
The plot is written as a romance visual novel with drama and has good and bad endings in each route with very few errors in the English text. As a visual novel with drama, it has interesting plot hooks where along each character route, John will notice both Akane and Madoka will also have problems they are reluctant to share immediately with John as he is a foreigner and he had only known them for only a few days. The short length of this visual novel makes this part difficult to be believable, it would have been nice to add more meeting and dialogue options at the common route or early part of each girl's route to make it more believable and interesting. The character backgrounds for all characters including supporting characters and antagonists could also be expanded further.
Artwork and CGs
The artwork is cute, colourful and attractive with blinking eyes and moving lips in every character sprite and CG in-game with equally attractive artwork in game cover, soundtrack album cover, Steam profile backgrounds and emoticons. The opening theme does well in introducing the cast of characters in this visual novel while the ending themes will feature an animated slideshow of different CGs depending on the ending obtained.
Voice acting and background music
The voice acting in this visual novel are generally good by conveying the tone and mood of each character well. Background music are generally pleasant and appropriate to match the different moments in the game with ショーダウン!/Show down! and 決着/Settlement that are played near the end of each girl's route as my favourite BGM. The theme song with vocals Pinwheel in the opening theme and Wind's Promise in the ending theme are the main highlight of this visual novel and help to make this visual novel special with a fast, catchy and lively beat in both songs to match the happy themes in this visual novel and they are both included as free WMV files with the game.
I got this game during Humble Store Birthday Sale back in November 2016 and the game is also sometimes discounted at up to 90% off at Steam store, therefore this game is recommended when at discount or bundle offer with soundtrack DLC for those looking for a short visual novel with great artwork and soundtracks.

Rating: Average
Price: Won key on Steamgifts. Can't buy this in my region but I'd suggest only grabbing if HEAVILY discounted (or free).
Very short VN based around narrative of two girls' interactions with the male protagonist (a foreigner visiting Japan for first time). Story was OK but I instantly took a dislike to the protagonist, he was definitely not the sharpest tool in the box, everything about Japanese culture had to be spelled out for him; like, it was painful. Mister "I know absolutely nothing about the place to which I have just travelled to on a rather large aeroplane at no small expense". I just wasn't drawn in to the drama of the story, since it was irritating from the very beginning.
Wish I could leave a neutral review, definitely not the worst, but also far from the best VN I have read.

Kyoto Colorful Day has 2 different Main Routes, meaning 2 different Girls, that you can play. Both of those are rather short and it wont take you longer then 2 hours to complete them both if you read relatively quick. Only because of this I only recommend this Game if you get it for a low Price. It also has a few technical Problems, as it is very slow and laggy at times and it takes like 5 seconds for me to open the Log. I also dont like the Sound Settings as there is a certain Point where the Audio just goes silent even though you arent on the smallest Position. Other then that I like the Art and Sprites they are both pretty good. The Story and Writing are also decent and I enjoyed it for the short Time that it took me to complete. It feels a little rushed though, since they really tried to fit the entire Story in this short VN, it would have been better if they would have taken their time a little more and written a bit of a more polished longer Story. Also there a just a small few Grammer Mistakes, but the Voice Acting is pretty nice.
Overall, it is a decent VN, but nothing new or like really exciting. Still if you get it for the 90% off like I did then you wont regret buying it.
Score: 6.4/10

I really like this game.
The characters are cute, the music is perfect and the story transmit a lot of knowledgement about Japan and the culture there.
It makes me feel relaxed.

Fairly short and a decent read, price depending. I ended up with KCD in a bundle leftovers trade, for around $2 it's worth taking a peek at. The main character is...a bit of a dolt (being nice here lol). Madoka has the best route if you like some bizarre backstory and can handle endings with solid impact.
Solid character art and a decent OST are only slightly impacted by weird scene loading times and the odd audio cutout. Big bonus points for Japanese voice work done with the correct regional dialect.
An average route with each girl will take about two hours, the whole game can be completed in under five with some save scumming. No achievements, but this does have nice profile backgrounds if you're into that sort of thing.

Story was great but unfulfilling

This is a short visual novel. Most of its appeal might be in that it uses the Kyoto-dialect rather than the Tokyo dialect most well-known in Japanese. The two heroines have interesting tales, and if you do the right things, you may even end up living happily ever-after with one.
Both are also being threatened by people on the wrong side of the law. One has issues with land-speculators. The other... she's being stalked by an admirer.
You can complete this game quickly enough, and if you like collecting the Trading Cards, they appear to be rather easy to complete sets.
