Kofi Quest is a not-so-serious adventure that brings together mechanics from Action RPG and RTS games. You’ll control Kofi, a weak, lazy and unlucky videogame character that will be followed by a group of interesting (and pathetic) characters aiding him to live a great adventure.
Game features
- Videogame characters that know they’re videogame characters.
- Mechanics from RTS, RPG and graphic adventure.
- Explore Neighborwood and uncover loads of secrets.
- Real-time combat similar to Action RPG’s with troops control.
- Gear your troops up to achieve victory.
- Troop Captains with special skills.
- The story will immerse you in a comic adventure with tons of situations and characters.
- Voice acting!
- Cool soundtrack inpired by JRPG.
- Your sword’s broken and your best friend’s a booger, but you can ride a direwolf.

I've been following the development of this game for years. Since October 28, 2015 to be precise. My expectations have been growing over the years, but the game has lived up to it. I've played almost nonstop for 12 hours and I'm enjoying it like a child.
As I progress through the game, I'll develop this review, considering both strenghts and flaws, but I definitely recommend it

Seriously, this game need more attention. Because this game is chill and funny AF!
Kofi Quest: Alpha MOD is based on the cartoon series "Kofi" (2015), and that series is funny AF.
Basically everybody in this game know that they are a video game character, so they acting weird and funny sometime or all the time.
I think you should buy this game because:
- You gonna have a great laughing time.
- They breaks the 4th wall a lot.
- Elf kids are cute AF.
- The villains is actually not villain sometimes (or most the time), they just have a different goal.
- There is no tragic death in this game (even sometimes they act like it is but it isn't).
- This game is chill, relax and funny. The combat part is satisfy.
- Sometimes things looks mystery and magical but behind it is a complex logic systems that you will know later in this game and it really looks ridiculous (but it's works).
- The location of your camp is very special, I can say the most special location that I ever thought and there is no other game that have a camp location like this one.
- You don't know what's gonna coming next. Just remember that they already knew that they are a video game character, so the story driven is pretty different with a normal game.
- You can destroy almost anything except houses and mountains.
Tips:
- Cut all the grasses you see, they contains something that you don't even expected. And they gonna grow back when you re-enter the location. Do the same with rocks.
- You can enter almost all the house you see and destroy almost everything inside, I suggest you to destroy the pots and chest only because it's the one that contains something I see so far.
- Forget the logic and physic with this game, it doesn't works here.
- Talk with any NPC you see.
- Read the tutorials. Some hint doesn't show in your gameplay but in the Tutorials option instead.
Overall: 10/10
Also the main characters remind me of Finn and Jake in Adventure Time.

TLDR: If you are on the fence, I'd highly recommend giving the game a shot. It's unique, funny, and engaging.
I wasn't sure if I was going to care much for this game, but the 'price was right' to take a gamble on Kickstarter. Also want to point out that I normally gravitate towards multi-player games as I get bored in single player stuff. I have to say I'm VERY impressed with the game. I've full on cackled at some of the irony present in the game. I love how it plays very much like any other 'action RPG' you've played before, but yet the approach is very unique and super comical. I definitely foresee myself spending some time on this game for a bit when I feel like something simple.
Also loving the "quest" system, the maps (and having to interpret them), and just the general personality. Additionally I have yet to encounter any bugs, which is super unusual for an early access game.

This game is completely different to any game I have played before.
Even if it can be classified as a mix between action RPG and RTS games (roleplay and strategy), if you expect something similar to these, you could get dissapointed.
Instead, you should learn to embrace the chaos, as this game is a pure Chaos Management System, and it is really funny by the way!
After a somewhat slow beginning (be patient), your lazy and low-level anti-hero, Kofi, would be in charge of an army of rpg noobs, that are so weak that they need to gather to fulfill their missions. These minions will hurt themselves, but they will do their job at the end of the day, You just should keep summoning them with a "motivation" system. You gain points for every enemy you defeat, that you can use to summon again your soldiers.
The story would develop with many interestings turns, funny moments and a lot of references to RPG games, as the original youtube series the game is based on. are a parody to this kind of games.
I want to mention specially the design of the scenarios and characters. All of them are draw by hand, giving a very cartoonish look, and there is a lot of variety and no repetition at all. After 19 h of game I haven't become bored at any time (except maybe the first half hour in the beginning as I said previously)
A very polished indie game, full of little details and funny moments, and very different to any other game you could find nowadays. Try it out!

Kofi Quest is an amazing and humorous game, with mostly simple mechanics, nice graphics and a great story. If there was a rating system, this game would earn a 10/10 from me.
Kofi Quest has a few funny moments (like when Chai swings the UI around your mouse) and a few “Finally!” moments (like after you defeat a boss) that you’ll love. Winning against a boss, especially if it’s a hard one, is definitely worth the effort.
The mechanics are simple, with a maximum of 12 summoned by horn and each character having two abilities and another three if they’re a main character. You don’t need any experience to play Kofi Quest and you can pick up what does what quickly. There‘s even a pause mode to organise your team, and everything apart from bosses freeze during pause mode.
Without spoiling too much, Kofi, a weak and lazy warrior that spends his time playing video games, finds Chai,a monk apprentice who has lost a bottle containing an all powerful potion. They have to fight a boss or six to get the whole potion back, the last one a 1v1 between the boss and Kofi. There are many funny moments in the story too.
The cartoon style graphics are also very nice, simple but effective. Kofi seems eternally bored and size usually determines strength.
Trust me, between the amazing gameplay, creative story, laughs and graphics, you’ll be waiting for a sequel (like me). If you think this game is for you, then you should go straight off this review and click on the buy button. Well, what are you waiting for? I hope you enjoy the game! See you around the game (or platform)!

The game has nice graphics, decent voice acting, humorous dialog and an interesting meta story about computer game characters playing in an RPG computer game
However If you go in thinking the game is an RPG then you will be disappointed, its a game about characters who are part of an RPG computer game. Its an homage to RPGs; there is a lot of poking fun and nods to RPGs but its not an RPG itself (see break down below.)
Really the game is just an adventure game, sort of a point and click with some RTS lite thrown in. You unlock different types of character units as you progress the game and when the story allows you can deploy them at will. You can be a little bit tactical at times and In a particular part of the game you need to use magic units only but mostly it doesn't matter what you deploy for combat. You may also need certain units to work around different environment barriers/puzzles which reminded me a little bit of Lost Vikings.
Once you accept the game for what it is and go with the story it can be a lot of fun. There was a a couple of hangs which required restarts but luckily no loss of progress and the performance was good even with a lot happening on screen at times.
Overall Its a thumbs up from me but I still would recommend waiting for a sale.
A quest is simply the next act of the story, There is a handful of very silly side quests such as break a 100 rocks, these are just here for the meta humor.
Leveling is just part of the story, there is no XP system, instead after certain acts the game will announce your character is now stronger, regardless it had no real impact.
There is coins and items to purchase in shops but its all arguably unnecessary, I completed the game without purchasing anything. You may need to use consumables from time to time on character in combat, although most of the time your characters will just re-spawn (since again its meant to be a computer game) regardless you will acquire plenty of consumables as you progress the game without purchasing anything.
There is various items of gear that can assigned to your characters ( acquired through loot or purchases) but its all arguably unnecessary, I completed the game with the same equipment you get at the beginning.
Your main characters have skills but you can't change or level them, I barely used them apart from the skills needed to progress the story.
There are some dungeons but its all part of the story, they must be completed, they are not optional for farming XP or loot. As mentioned there is no XP and the loot is worthless.
