Kingdom Two Crowns
In the award-winning Kingdom series, players took on the role of a monarch struggling to build their kingdom up from nothing. Hundreds of thousands of players across the world explored, recruited loyal subjects, and defended nightly against the persistent threat of the Greed – but they did so in isolation, and as with all things in Kingdom, nothing lasts… until now. Kingdom Two Crowns builds upon the challenging micro strategy experience with an evolution of the celebrated franchise. Introducing the brand-new campaign mode, monarchs must now work to build a kingdom that stands over time until finding a way to defeat the Greed for good. Recruit new unit types and develop advanced technologies to bolster your defenses. Explore fresh environments to discover new mounts and secrets hidden in the deep. Revisit and revitalize your kingdom in its entirety as you move onward through the campaign.

I adore this game, bugs and all. I mostly play it solo because my husband isn't as big of a fan of it as I am. The builder AI just got a revamp, and thank goodness, because those dudes are dumber than rocks. Literally must be, to hit a hammer on a tree and expect it to fall down. My mom was really excited for this game to come out and actively played New Lands often. We were so looking forward to Two crowns coming out because it meant she and I could play together. Sadly she didn't live to see the launch but I know she would have adored it just as much. They kept her favourite mount (the Stag) that she'd use and giggle mischievously as she lead unsuspecting deer to their demise. I enjoyed most of the dlcs, and the soundtracks are beautiful. The mounts are cool and all have their quirks. If you enjoy tower defense or 2D sidescrolling artstyle then this game is worth a play. Make sure to lead a few deer to their untimely end.

This game helped me go through grief, illness and boredom multiple times until I got better. Thank you game! (Also it's really fun, addictive and insanely gorgeous!)

I love this game. Couch co-op is a delight. Personal ranking:
1. Norselands
2. Shogun
3. Dead Lands
4. Call of Olympus
5. Base
Every single one of those is a great experience, fun to play, and very much worth your while. The core gameplay loop is extremely simple and largely all the same. It's just a great game to chill out with at the end of the day with your partner.
Only major complaint is that, despite solid effort searching on my part, I haven't been able to find anything that hits that base building / couch coop / simple mechanics / chill vibes interrupted by AH JESUS NO moments beat like this game, and so I kind of feel a bit lost as to what to play next with wifey.
Open to recos in the comments!

Good game to take your mind off of things, easy to understand and even if it gets a little repetitive, there's still always something to do. Fun to play with a friend or by yourself.
My #1 game for coping with mental breakdowns

Owned this game for a few years now, and I still love it and the expansions. Its become my comfort game in a way, the basics of the game can be easily memorised so you can go off of muscle memory.
Its gotten many QoL updates through the years and each expansion adds unique and different factions/gameplay.
Its not a high specs demanding game and its a easy 2 player co-op game to play with a friend.
A downside is, no manual save, it saves after each day, so if you made a big mistake, your kinda screwed, unless! you find the save file and make a manual copy and overwrite the one that had the mistake, save scumming? yes but it works.
The game has a tutorial but its not the best, but there's easy tutorials on YT and once you get the hang of it, its pretty good.
All and all, I highly recommend the game, the gameplay loop is somewhat repetitive and predictable, but that's not always a bad thing. I recommend learning the game on a lower difficulty, like easy, just to get the feel of it first as normal can be brutal later on.

It's incredible how such a simple game can be so fun. I thought I'd spend about 10 hours playing this game, however, it's almost been over 100 hours, and it's been a blast. Great game! I highly recommend it. But please, Devs, fix the end-game bugs (DLC)—I need my ship back, and the last achievements are not being unlocked.
