Playthrough randomization
Each game is unique, in the sense that item locations are randomized for each playthrough and your objective may not be in the same location as it was in last game!
Your objective
Find your way across the land, collecting items that grant access to new areas. Locate all three pieces of royal adornments and reclaim your castle!
Aimed at young players
King Boo was developed with young players in mind. The controls are simple, challenge/stress is low and the visuals are colorful and appealing. An ideal starting point for future gamers!

Found the developer shamelessly plugging his own game on Reddit where someone had asked about good Steam games for toddlers. I decided to pick it up just for fun, and was immediately hooked.
I've been trying to get my wife into gaming for a long time, and she's always struggled with controls on games. She saw this one, and heard the fun music, and decided to give it a try. She played through the whole thing in one go.
14/10 would recommend.

Brilliant for young kids, my 2 and 4 year old (almost 3 and 5) love it. They play on my controller which is honestly probably harder for them than mouse and keyboard would be. My youngest uses the d-pad and loves running off the ledges. My oldest figured out the game fairly quick and the way it introduces them to new mechanics incrementally is brilliant. Way better than some other "young kid" games in terms of actual playability for someone of in that age group. I found this game after the creator commented on a reddit thread whilst I was searching for games young children could actually play. Honestly 10/10 for young kids, exactly what I had been searching for.

This has been the first game for both of my sons and they both love it.
It is about a ghost trying to get into their castle. In order to do so, items have to be collected to open doors. There are no enemies, there is no time limit, there are no complex mechanics and falling off the world does not cause any penalties. There even is a setting that prevents the ghost from falling (if you try hard, you can still do it though ... something my kids love doing while laughing cheerfully).
It is a completely relaxed experience and ideal for kids to learn to control a character, navigate through levels and solve simple puzzles. For us it was completely worth its prize tag.

Excellent first game that made my write my first review in 32 years of gaming. I was trying to find a good first game for my 6 year old. We tried multiple co-op platformers but they were too difficult to learn the controls. This game is perfect to learn simple controller basics and my daughter enjoyed it a lot. Hopefully after a few playthroughs we can play more advanced games together.
Highly recommend King Boo for great atmosphere and gameplay for someone playing for the first time.

Got this for my boy who just turned 4.
I was looking for something simple for his first game and found this posted in a Reddit thread.
Awesome game for the price and my son loves it.

I bought this game seeing some recommendations that this would be a good title for young kids picking up games for the first time. My son at the time was 3 and it worked very well as a bridge to games he enjoys now at at age 6 like Minecraft which were too advanced for him at the time. This game is perfect for kids in the preschool age to learn video game mechanics in a frustration free, relaxed pace game. It was the first game my son didn't hand me the controller to take over because it was too hard. That's the target audience for this game. I wish there were a few more levels or perhaps the creator can consider some "DLC levels" in the future.

We love King Boo! This is the first game that our four year old has really been able to play (and master) on her own - and she loves it! This is a fantastic introduction for kiddos to computer games - they even have the ability to toggle the walls so you can stop your kiddo from falling as they get used to the movement (or turn it off when they find falling funny). Highly recommend.
