I can't believe how many people are posting negative reviews because you get a small roster on the free version. What did you expect? Most fighting games aren't even free at all. It's half the price of a normal game if you want the full game.
What is wrong with people...

C-c-c-combo Brrreaker!
This game is epic - I keep mashing a single button and my character starts doing all sorts of crazy combos on his own all while some guy in the background yells about how amazing I am.
Introducing easy combos was a stroke of genius especially considering how in the previous title on the console pulling off a full combo felt like a Herculean task. All the old favorites are back - the Icy Guy, the Fire Dude, the Mohawk-sporting native american and Orchid the girl. Oh and there’s a fighting dinosaur, a werewolf, Rash from Battletoads with his signature sunglasses and a skeleton warrior reminiscent of Golden Axe.
Perfect for chill gaming sessions with friends in front of the TV. Just make sure to grab some budget gamepads so you won’t fret over them getting wrecked during intense combo mashing. It's also free now with one free weekly rotating character and access to the SP and ranked.

A freaking miracle in a half that this game is getting any sort of update in over 10 years. And if you already own the game before the Anniversary Edition, EVERYTHING in the recent updates is free to you (skins, characters, additions...)
The game have amazing single player content if you don't want to sweat with Training, Story, Shadow Lord (rouge-like), you can download player's Shadow (similar to Tekken 8 Ghost) and practice until you are comfortable for online plays. The Steam version also has FULL CROSSPLAY with Xbox and Microsoft Store. So that mean you can fight with the giant pool of 34 millions Gamepass players, so if you see the game only have like 100 players at 24-hrs peak, don't fret as there is no shortage of opponent for you from the Microsoft side.
And did I also mentioned: ROLLBAAAAAAAACK NEEEEEEEEETCOOOOOOOOOOODE!!!!!

As old as it is, The first time i was introduced to this game was when it was featured on the Transformers movie with that hot chick, Megan fox (Before she got old). This fighting game features cool old characters, fluid combat, and easy-to-learn mechanics. As a game that was originally released on the Xbox console back in 2013, it has since been updated with more content and modes. However, it still lacks a compelling story mode and its not at a high level as compared to Mortal Kombat 11 or 1. However, It is a cult classic for fans of the genre and a fun game to play with friends.
