C-c-c-combo Brrreaker!
This game is epic - I keep mashing a single button and my character starts doing all sorts of crazy combos on his own all while some guy in the background yells about how amazing I am.
Introducing easy combos was a stroke of genius especially considering how in the previous title on the console pulling off a full combo felt like a Herculean task. All the old favorites are back - the Icy Guy, the Fire Dude, the Mohawk-sporting native american and Orchid the girl. Oh and there’s a fighting dinosaur, a werewolf, Rash from Battletoads with his signature sunglasses and a skeleton warrior reminiscent of Golden Axe.
Perfect for chill gaming sessions with friends in front of the TV. Just make sure to grab some budget gamepads so you won’t fret over them getting wrecked during intense combo mashing. It's also free now with one free weekly rotating character and access to the SP and ranked.

A freaking miracle in a half that this game is getting any sort of update in over 10 years. And if you already own the game before the Anniversary Edition, EVERYTHING in the recent updates is free to you (skins, characters, additions...)
The game have amazing single player content if you don't want to sweat with Training, Story, Shadow Lord (rouge-like), you can download player's Shadow (similar to Tekken 8 Ghost) and practice until you are comfortable for online plays. The Steam version also has FULL CROSSPLAY with Xbox and Microsoft Store. So that mean you can fight with the giant pool of 34 millions Gamepass players, so if you see the game only have like 100 players at 24-hrs peak, don't fret as there is no shortage of opponent for you from the Microsoft side.
And did I also mentioned: ROLLBAAAAAAAACK NEEEEEEEEETCOOOOOOOOOOODE!!!!!

OVERVIEW: From my experience with fighting games, Killer Instinct was a name that stood out during chats with fellow players but about which memories slipped with the dust of time till I had the chance to redeem myself thanks to Iron Galaxy Studios.
I started my new journey with Aganos, a Golem with the mission to hunt an evil sorcerer or... from what I could tell, someone at least hard to reason with
Pros
-» Gameplay: It is quite thoughtful that you may learn core abilities just by pausing the game and checking the required instructions. With an arcade stick it felt like a very responsive title that made me curious about other characters playstyle possibilities
-» Soundtrack and sound effects: very inspired in both fronts
-» Graphics: they can be adjusted to fit both old and new PC's
-» Replayability: Very good (29 champions) and a dream if you enjoy equipment customization
-» Difficulty: Seemed fair playing as Aganos
Cons
-» I usually only buy games I am passionate about... this wasn's a c-c-combo breaker to that streak
SUMMARY:
8.3/10 gaming scale
Disclosure: After clearing the main campaign and as I comeback for new sessions or new updates arise by developers, I intend to keep revising this review

This is legitimately one of the most hype fighting games i've ever played. (And i've played almost all of em) But the community is very small and despite a great new update there's still not many players anymore.
If you buy the full game the CPU is a lot of fun to play against, there's plenty of fun challenging characters, but online matches are sparse, just keep that in mind.
Here's hoping for a KI2 one day.
Edit: Oh and the boss/guest characters are unbalanced AF lmao.

If you are new to fighting games, this is a good one to start with. Its got a decent single player mode with Shadow Lords, the combo system is one of the most simple in the genre by basically having you create a combo sandwich, it has the original combo escape mechanic that a large amount of fighting games now use (not the exact one but this was the original) The characters are all unique and offer many different playstyles to help new players to the genre figure out what kind of characters they may want to play in other fighters. If you are looking to enter the FGC, this is a great game to start with because it feels good to play this with the hype announcer. Don't let the negative reviews fool you, Killer Instinct is a very great fighting game to play with friends, and you can still find a few matches here and there online. Don't knock it til you try it.
