downgrades from jc3:
- no unliberation
- fewer destructible trees
- fewer/worse bridge destruction
- limited vehicle ammo (forces you to not endlessly use a single vehicle, which isnt that bad)
- bad looking water
upgrades from jc3:
- more content overall
- better, more engaging combat
- pve air to air combat (not the most in depth but its better than jc3s, which has none)
- more vehicle diversity
- way prettier graphics (besides the water)
- - explosions also look alot nicer
- multiple driving camera angles (hood cam is very fun)
- frontlines are quite a bit of fun, having such a high saturation of friendly and enemy forces to mess around with (however this feature is hindered by the inability to unliberate regions)
story dlc:
- danger rising: 8/10, pretty fun, introduces new enemies, vehicles and a new movement ability
- dare devils: 5/10, its alright, not the best
- los demonios: 7/10, the graphics, models and animations for the enemies are absolutely gorgeous, the gameplay itself tho tends to be a bit tedious
overall each game is fun in its own right, i find myself playing jc4 more often than jc3, mainly because of the better combat
for a first timer to the franchise i recommend jc3, however if youre tired of jc3 i recommend jc4

Not nearly as bad as mixed reviews make it seem
Downgrades from JC3:
-there are no bases or outposts that you can complete without leaving vehicle, you will always be forced to do some objectives on foot. Which is a downgrade for me because I loved doing helicopter assaults and bomber runs in JC3
-collision physics are definitely more glitchy. The way your helicopter recoils from hitting a drone or another helicopter, or the way ground vehicles stumble over debris and invisible road bumps can get a bit annoying
-texture quality up close seems worse. In engine cutscenes left me wondering what happened to the texture quality since JC3.
Upgrades:
+Biodiversity of the map. Map is separated into 4 very distinct biomes. They look great from afar. More diverse than Medici.
+We're back into more serious tone of the narrative. Characters are likeable and not exaggerated, story feels more personal despite not being set in MC's home.
+Thematically, Army of Chaos is significant improvement over rebels. They start off with 1 stronghold against Black Hand, establish frontlines, and as their numbers grow and you secure more footholds in other regions - those frontlines move and increase in numbers. There's also a cool dynamic in how you don't just gain squads by leveling up and lose them to move frontlines. When moving into a region reduces the number of frontlines - you free up the squads for other uses.
+Combat feels more balanced, varied and responsive. Balanced because with just 2 guns of any category and no any-ammo gunlockers everywhere - you scavenge for weapons and ammo more, like we were in JC2. Varied because most guns have alternative fire mode. Responsive because there is a satisfying sound effect for nailing headshots which doesn't leave you wondering whether you should double tap or move on to next target.
+Enemy has jets and actually uses them to counter your aerial vehicles. They no longer feel like just a set piece of airbases.
+Challenges are not nearly as crucial for unlocking all the tools, nor are they as time consuming. You get all the aerial moves you had to unlock with gears in JC3 by default, and generally about a 1/3 of all the challenges is needed to unlock all the non-crucial stuff. Do take time for 40 wingsuit challenges tho, these give you 3 charges of rockets to your jet wingsuit.
Overall, worthy addition to the franchise. Hope the mixed reception doesn't ruin the chances of the franchise continuing. Hopefully with less technical issues next time. I generally approve the direction of gameplay and narrative Avalanche took with JC4.

Beat the main story in about 10 hours. Sheldon said amigo zero times, Texas two times and doesn't wear a cowboy hat.

My favourite part is when Rico says Its Causin' time and causes all over

I really like this game, especially doing anything that aren't the quests.

Is it as good as Just Cause 3? Definitely not. Is it a bad game? It seems to be up to personnel taste but I enjoyed it plenty, and recommend it when it goes on sale
