Jitsu Squad
Jitsu Squad is a 4 player co-op beat ‘em up with fast-paced cartoony action and wacky chaotic battles! It has the accessibility and classic brawler mechanics of games like Streets of Rage and Final Fight but with the speed and intensity of fighting games games such as Marvel vs. Capcom II, Dragonball FighterZ & Super Smash Bros.

So I just checked out Jitsu Squad on steam and let me just say this is an incredible demo they have put together for a truly special game.
If you like brawlers or couch co-op games or you have an interest in action controls game design this is a must.
Check out the artwork, which is fantastic, and is deeply integrated I to gameplay in a way I have never experienced before.

It might not look like I have much playtime when writing this, but I got this on Epic Games for free and played through it. Then picked it up here for $1 to set up remote play with my buddies.
If you are looking for a great and crazy combo brawler...Jitsu Squad is perfect. It is a lot like Fight N Rage combo madness, and super colorful. Plays great, looks great, and doesn't disappoint in the fun department.
Also good to have 4 players....so my buddies and I can all join in.
I enjoyed going through this on Epic and I still love it now.

Recommended, but I kinda like it but I kinda don't. I think it's a good beatemup but it's a bit too flashy and in your face for me. Graphics and music are very well done.
The combo system is good but there's SO many enemies per level it starts to get repetitive fast, at least for me. It feels like I'm playing something like a guilty gear fighting game except it's a beatemup. It weird. A but too much for me.
Other strange things like you can continue but only after you go back to the title screen but you only get one life. There's only one save slot. You can't change character mid game when you continue. There's all these moves you get along the way but zero progression system so there's no way to increase your base attack damage which hurts it a bit.

I think the game rules. Highly recommend.
Kick ass original soundtrack too. Very dragons dogma power theme/ asian cartoon
Amazing that this game sells for $10 (with massive discounts- got it for $1)
It has 10x the depth of Cosmic Invasion yet is relatively unheard of and won't get the rose tinted glazing that Marvel fans blindly spew. (less than 300 reviews wtf? )
Top tier beat em up. Comparable to Fight N Rage, Sor4, Shredder's Revenge, Battletoads etc.
I spent 7 hours just on the Story mode with the Kung Fu Black Groyper character.
There are 3 other characters all with completely different and deep skill sets, specials, weapons, and moves.
Everything is beautifully hand drawn and you can see the care taken in every detail, complete with expressions on the enemies / player in every frame. The tutorial is baked into the first stage, and explains as you go. The stages get more difficult. The backrounds are alive and detailed. Truly above and beyond what most beat em ups do.
Guess what story mode unlocks?
Tag Mode.
The entire gimmick of Marvel Cosmic Invasion having tag team fighting- Jitsu Squad completed in 2022. Having said that, the negative review is correct- it should not have been locked behind story mode- gating players from using all the characters seems like a way to pad the play time, people want to try them all out and admittedly would have played more often if I could have played as all the characters at any point. I kept putting it down bc I'd get burnt out with the Afro-Groyper.
So you get a really good classic style beat em up. And you also get the tag mode when you beat it once (not locked by difficulty, can beat it on easy) The tag mode is fun because you can play all 4 characters at once.
My only complaint is the slightly spongey enemies and all the juggling can be a bit excessive, especially when you're getting juggle stun locked- but I didn't have too many frustrating moments like that, and I could brute my way out of most situations. There is actual parrying and counters you MUST learn. If it's too hard, crank that difficulty down- no one cares.
I'm actually surprised the low reception considering how many degen furries there are gaming. Maybe because this one is just a fun cartoon beat em up with no ulterior motives. Didn't sexualize the animals. That's prob why.

Decently fun but feels it missing something and some ideas are very strange, overall I enjoy the game

This game is an hidden beat em all gem, it's like a crazier version of TMNT: very fast, very gore, very fun and packed with jokes and references. The moves are super unhinged and impactful, it s mostly immediate power fantasy satisfaction with focus on crowd control and constant mobility, there is a little bit of technicality to pull off delayed combos: slightly late timing on button press give different combos. Most afficonados of beat em all will find the game easy so I advise them to start at maximum difficulty right off the bat.
