Into the Sinkhole
Demo version –> Easy mode (Strawberry mode)
“Into the Sinkhole” is platformer that requires you to head down towards the bottom of the Sinkhole.
Constantly challenge yourself!
The springboard platform will try to prevent you from going down.
With a single push, you could find yourself all the way back at the top.
Try to use a combination of jumps and dashes to avoid obstructive platforms, as it won’t be straightforward path.
What will you discover at the bottom of the Sinkhole?
Numerous artifacts have been discovered around the huge Sinkhole.
But since it’s very deep, it’s too dangerous for humans to go explore themselves.
As a result, the research team is sending AI-robot, ‘Laika’, into the Sinkhole.
So… what secrets will be hidden down there?
Easy mode (Strawberry mode) / Hard mode (Watermelon mode)
‘Strawberry mode’ is a relatively easy mode. You should choose this mode if you would like to focus on enjoying the story elements of the game.
‘Watermelon mode’ is the hardest level of difficulty. With just one mistake, you might even end up at the beginning again. If you have mastered platformers, this mode is for you.
Various types of platforms.
A safe platform that you can walk on, a moving platform, a platform that disappears and reappears, and a springboard platform that can send you up very high.

At first, I wanted to slam my keyboard and quit the game but just soon later, I found myself I was playing this game in my head thinking how to solve the maze. I was always confident with my controls, but the watermelon mode was way beyond my talent. If you are confident with your controls, you should definitely challenge yourself with this game. I strongly recoomend!

My life can be devided into two chapters. The former is before I play this game and the latter is me after playing this game. I was fine until the 500m, but later I was mumbling swear words every 5 secs. My brother thought I became insane then I showed him this game and then he started swearing as well. The thing is right, this game makes you swear but this is acc so addictive that you can't stop playing it. This game relies on your control more than Jump King so it has more freedom. The developers also updated the balance patch really quickly so I'm very happy about it too (Since I coulndn't go further than 700m for an hour)
Here are some tips. 1. If you press down arrow button you can look down. 2. You can use dash(Shift) consecutively but there is some cooled-time which is around 0.5 sec. 3. You can dash while you are in the air too and this is very useful 4. There are a lot of fake material. Some maze look like you have to jump but when you acc jump you hit the jumping platform and it bounces you up...(I hate the developers sm) 5. And finally... DO NOT STEP RED PLATFORM!

Into the Sinkhole
Journey To The Center Of The Earth?
Trust me when I say this game is very unique. It has an extremely simple concept but the way the developers implemented it is actually amazing. This game is actually very triggering to play since it is similar to games like Getting Over It and Jump King where the game is very difficult and a small mistake could throw you right back to the beginning. It was so difficult to keep myself calm while I played “Into the Sinkhole”. Just ensure you have a backup PC along with extra peripherals before booting up this game since you’ll probably rage a lot.
About This Game
Storyline
I was surprised when I came to know that this game actually has a storyline. Unfortunately, I didn’t pay much attention to the dialogues since they were a bit too dry and there were too many irrelevant and unnecessary conversations. But yeah, the core plot is as follows:
The humans discover a Sinkhole that seems to house several valuable artifacts. The only problem is that this hole is actually really deep and they don’t want to risk anyone’s life during exploration. In order to overcome this hurdle, the research team decides to send an AI- Robot named “Lalika” to uncover the many secrets buried deep in this Sinkhole.
Yeah, it is pretty basic but it does its job. The story is narrated in the form of a text conversation between the robot and other people. So, whenever there’s a new dialogue, you literally get a notification. This is a pretty interesting way to let the players in on the game’s plot.
Gameplay Mechanics
As mentioned earlier, the game has extremely simple mechanics. It literally has only 3 major player mechanics; Walking, jumping, and dashing. Pretty standard platformer traversal mechanics.
So, how is the game actually challenging? Well, since you are descending into a Sinkhole, you obviously travel downwards. You have to jump down from tile to tile. These tiles have one-way collisions. This characteristic is vital since there are other kinds of springboard platforms that launch you upwards when you come into contact with them. This literally pushes you back from the progress you made forcing you to make your way down to where you reached again. This is kinda annoying since even a small mistake can throw you up all the way to the starting point if you’re not careful enough. E v e r y S t e p M a t t e r s ! ! !
The springboard platforms are differentiated using different colors. Each color represents the bounce strength of that platform; meaning how high it can launch you into the air. These are not the only obstacles you face. You’ll also encounter moving platforms and disappearing platforms. The level design combines all these platform types to give you a challenge.
On the main menu page, you will see two game mode options namely Strawberry Mode and Watermelon Mode. If you didn’t read the game’s description on its Steam store page, then you would have no clue what they stand for. Basically, Strawberry Mode is the Easy mode made for players who want to actually try enjoying the game while paying attention to the story elements it offers. On the other hand, Watermelon Mode is the hard game mode tailored for gamers who are highly experienced in platform games and are up for an even more challenging experience. Man, the strawberry mode is a pain in the ass to play. The watermelon mode is worse.
Visuals & Audio
Ngl, the visuals aren’t that appealing. Lalika looks cute but the environment looks very weird. By weird, I mean they don’t fit in. Lalika and the platforms are very low poly but the environment uses almost-realistic textures. This gives the game a very awkward feel. They should’ve stuck with one art style, either low-poly only or that almost-realistic textures on solid objects. So yeah, I am not really a big fan of how the game looks. You can easily get to know that the game was made in Unity since it gives off the “Indie game made on Unity” vibes.
As for the soundtracks they use, you’re better off muting the game and vibing to songs on Spotify. If I am right, the game has only one Soundtrack that loops over and over again. Pardon me if I am wrong since I am pretty sure I heard the same music throughout my one-hour playthrough. They could’ve done a better job on both aspects of the game.
Pros
Extremely challenging gameplay.
Very unique concept.
The storyline is okay. Not too special.
Two difficulty modes; Strawberry and Watermelon.
Cons
The visuals and soundtracks used are pretty eh.
I am only putting this in cons since I suck at this game. It’s too difficult bro.
The game isn’t perfect. There’s a handful of bugs and glitches you might encounter. It’s also not really smooth.
Although the game doesn’t seem that demanding, I was getting a lot of frame drops for some reason. I guess the game isn’t well optimized.
Conclusion
As much as I sucked at this game, I actually enjoyed the little time I spent on it. I’ll probably play it again to kill time. We need more indie devs who come up with unique concepts. Although the gameplay aspect of the game is pretty decent, I didn’t like the visual and aural parts of it. They could’ve done a way better job. But yeah, the game is surely worth its price. It’s also not that expensive.

We’re worried about robots taking over the world while Lalika is here risking its life for our sake.
