Hordes of Hunger
MORE FROM HYPERSTRANGE:
West is a stealth FPS inspired by the genre classics such as the Thief series (whose fans will be happy to hear the voice of Stephen Russell, the actor voicing the master-thief Garrett, returning here as the protagonist), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, or – from the contemporary catalog – Hunt: Showdown. The gameplay rewards the careful approach: scouting the area, stalking your enemies, and striking from the shadows. Can you figure out a way to clear a fort full of ghouls and monsters without raising an alarm?
the Game
The great war between the kingdom and the outland tribes brought no victory, but only poverty, famine and death. A banquet of sorrow that called forth the calamity known only as the Beast. A cosmic terror that flooded the world and devoured it. Those still breathing inside the living nightmare are preyed upon by horrors birthed from the deepest recess of their minds.
To stay still in this world is to invite death, at every moment you will be besieged by monsters craving your flesh, blood and bone. You must take the fight to them and cut through the hordes with instruments of war and if need be – magic. At all times you must be on your toes and be mindful of your surroundings – chokepoints, high ground and useful tools. Your enemies number in legions, so each advantage you can get is the one that might save your life.
The only respite you will find is in the graveyard grounds where the few living souls still cling to life. Here the Blind Man and the Old Woman, the Prisoner, and many others will share their burden and stories with you, yet you can’t escape the feeling that with each story they’re whispering truths into lies.

Really fun game but please for the love of god stop the character saying "Hmm, I need to hit these ones harder" every time I hit the shield guys with a light attack.

Review by Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam.
Is this game a masterpiece? No, but it is not the usual Vampire Survivors clone as well. You play Mirah, a mighty warrior with a large sword. Start a run, and enemies will attack you from all sides. Decimate them with light attack/heavy attack/dodge, kill enough and you can upgrade your character. Choose between three upgrades, and transform your warrior into an unstoppable fighting machine if you live long enough. The game plays in 3D, and there are even moments to rest - when you have cleared enough enemies, you have a bit of peace until you move on and the carnage continues.
The story progresses when you defeat a boss. You can upgrade your character permanently between the runs with feathers you find. You will also learn more and more about the land and meet people that have not gone crazy. You unlock new travel destinations and new weapons. Gamepad is supported and works fine.
Conclusion:
Hack and slash roguelite in 3D. Kill hundreds of monsters and upgrade your character - simple but somehow satisfying. Free the cursed land or die trying.

Really enjoying it so far, fun hack and slash action combined with roguelike progression in a very interesting world, with a really solid soundtrack, cool environments and good voice acting.

I'm not really big on these roguelite type games, but this game was a pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed it, and would highly recommend this game for anyone who likes a fantasy-style arena-slasher.
Even though this game is still only in Early-Access, it is already a success in my eyes and I can't wait to see what the devs have in store for the future.

Fun game, not enough variety for now but core loop is nice.

If you have a great video card and monitor the game faults to a very high resolution and only shows the top left 40% of the screen. Change settings to a lower resolution and restart game to see full screen.
Do't use the auto camera angle option as it will just annoy the crap out of you if you use joystick.
Otherwise the game looks awesome and plays well.

The combat is still a bit rough around the edges, but it works pretty well.
My major concerns are the lategame progression, and overall lack of content/variety
Also, why are weapon crafting materials so rare to find?
This can be a really good Survivorlike, as it has uniqueness that other titles can only envy, but it really needs more stuff to keep the player hooked, and a better difficulty curve.
